Teacher Paul, she was indeed thirteen at the time of recording. It is reported that she did not know this song until three days before the concert.. It is the best performance of this song that I have ever heard.

Amira and her 5 seconds of effortless high E-flat, the marker of a true coloratura soprano.
Everything about Amira tells you elite. It’s way too easy for her and always so beautifully done.

She is very, very special!!
Amira has at least three outstanding vocal qualities: incredible breath control and capacity, a result of her highly successful cross-country running career (Dutch champion); perfect pitch - she hits every note 'on the button'; and almost uniquely, her vibrato starts above, rather than below, the note - I've never heard ANY other singer who naturally does this. (She also has a very strong and attractive contralto voice, not often mentioned.) All this would be remarkable in a mature performer but in a lady of her age it is simply phenomenal. Amira not only sings and acts but is so intense she *inhabits* the role she's singing - I've only ever seen Callas do this and it's what makes their performances so emotive.
Enjoy her music, because you're unlikely ever to see her like again.

She was 9 years old when she participated (and won) Holland’s Got Talent. She blew Everybody away with her audition of the opera-Song ‘O Mio Babbino Caro’. I’ve followed her since and she is just really amazing! She has her own charity-foundation (i think she was 10 when she started it), to build playgrounds in South-Africa (where she now lives)

Amazing reaction, man! It's 2017. She was 13. She was awarded as "Best Mediterranean Opera Star 2019", in Italy. Half of her income goes to her charitable foundation, which builds playgrounds in poor schools in South Africa, as well as helps poor families with food during the pandemic. And she has been doing this since she was 10 years old. This is the first and the last time you look casually at her entering on stage. Keep up the great work!

Klopt ! Omdat minderjarigen niet in Nederland mogen optreden. En omdat haar moeder Zuid Afrikaanse is , zijn ze naar Zuid Afrika gegaan. Daar mag ze wel optreden. Toch wel lachen...zo loopt de Nederlandse schatkist een paar tientjes per jaar mis 😂😂😂.

I saw this before she has the most amazing voice I have never heard such an angelic voice every time I hear her brings tears to my eyes. I first saw her on Andre Ruer in Venice she was 9 years old. Absolutely amazing. If anyone gets a chance to see her in concert please go ahead and see her.

She was visiting her friend Alma Deutscher, and they recorded a couple of versions of the STEPSISTERS DUET from Alma’s CINDERELLA together.
No, she was 13 , the video was released a year after the concert. You should listen to her sing Nella Fantasia at the November 2016 Afrikaans is Groot concert at the age of 12 but you better have a box of tissues at hand you will need them.

Thank you for this great reaction! I love it when a knowledgeable reactor is amazed by Amira's voice and ability at such a young age. I would like to hear you also react to her singing Nella Fantasia and Gabriella's Song (which she sings in Swedish), and also her O Sole Mio duet with Patrizio Buanne (the first one when she was 13, I think). All are done in South Africa in this or similarly impressive venues.
And if you can find the time it is worth reading some of the interviews she has done (some in English and some with English subtitles), as they tend to show her humility and her giving heart!
She was discovered by Andre Ruie in Australia and she appeared in Venice at 9 years old.

@Jo Kuiper In fact, it's Afrikaans, one of the many languages spoken in South Africa. And yes, it means "Classics are great".

I see that you are going to react to Amira singing with Andre Rieu's orchestra on 8/9/21. I have my reminder set to catch that. However, I would recommend you start at the beginning--when Amira appeared on Holland's Got Talent at age NINE singing O Mio Babbino Caro and blew the judges away. Firstly, let me say I'm an Atheist musician. I have had no connection with religion whatsoever since I was in my high school band(we set a state school record of ten straight years All Superior in Concert Sight Reading and Marching). What got me with Amira are the same things I heard with Anna Graceman, Lucy Thomas, Jackie Evancho, Emanne Beasha, Faith Tucker and others; a beautiful voice and vibrato at such a young age.
What great times we live in with all these great young singers, many more than we've ever had!!
