I've been a paid member of Thousand Trails since 1997. It cost over $15,000 back then. With annual dues of nearly $1,000 I'm now considering selling the membership.I have enjoyed it immensely.
I had no idea it was so expensive! That explains how they can do "free camping" but at $1k/year, if there are actually available sites that might not be terrible at all!
Nice tour of the Thousand Oaks. We've stayed at several in Florida. Nothing to complain about except the rates. 😊 Ft. Myers Beach RV Resort is an Encore affiliate where we stay each year for the holidays. It's affordable and close to Sanibel Island, my happy place. Highly recommend! And that lakefront site is gorgeous. Lenny the Bus would look sweet there with that view! Maybe someday we'll live in our RV on some lake property. 😁
We looked into these rates, it seems a bit complicated to get ahold of exact what it would be yearly, plus nightly, any extra fees and then it doesn't look quite as simple as just booking on a whim whenever we want to stay! Florida though... 🤘😎 And how lovely would that be? Always having somewhere beautiful to park, leave whenever you please...
Of course Avions are better- in every way lol. Anyway, strange I only spotted one Airstream? Seems like on the coast there have been MANY MANY AS this year. That bus was cool, didn't know they had slideouts (although I really don't want those myself). Would those slideouts have been a conversion add-on? Pretty walk, nice park, great no apparent RV age restriction (Tin Can Tourists has a map of those kinds of parks). I am wondering what to carry to trim branches that doesn't take up much room. I am not really a ladder person. Had major wind, thunder and lightning last night (which was Sunday night) here, did you get that too? Went on forever and blinding flashes. Cozy in the Avion though. Wishing for summer weather again lol.
So I've heard. 😂 Dear Fleetwood, bring Avions back!! Yep, only one Airstream. I've noticed less and less of them being used as full time units. I think removing the furry walls really changed things for full timing in them because of the condensation, but that's just our experience with our two rigs and folks we've talked to. It's definitely easier fully hooked up though, I'm sure. Those slides were an option when Blue Bird was building those beauties! They did a great job with those, but they took too long to build from what I read. Incredible rigs though. I love the Tin Can Tourist site! We got a little set from Costco a while back, I'll try to get that in a video at some point when I find out where we put them. We didn't have a storm until this morning, though no thunder and lightning though! I bet that was cozy!!
Still not a fan of mass camp sites. I have been to them as a kid and it just felt... crowded. I like off grid camping just somewhere off in the woods, but I realize that is not easy or even possible in many places. P.S. I still dont know what all the sandbags were for in La Conner?
Ah, you missed the comment! It's the flooding from the river. There was flooding last year that I think they weren't prepared for, they wanted to get ahead of it this year!
While he may still have an issue with an injector still (18+ years old, seems reasonable to expect) it was actually the exhaust giving is theost grief. He couldn't breathe! I worked hard at separating the exhaust pipe from the huge muffler and he's like a new bus. I'm wondering if that also caused some overheating troubles too since the gasses couldn't escape after burning.

I think a pre def diesel model would be the best buy for the right price if you just weekend warrior or even maybe a full timer
Absolutely. No sense spending $800K for a diesel to use it three times a year!
Nice water views. The trees are nice, but I don't like to "camp" in dense forests. It's too dark. We left early from Ft. Steven's because of that.

Did you figure out what was wrong with lenny just wondering??
