THIS. I was planning on getting a couple GSC patrols to start the army, but was going to have to go outside my budget because of the impending doom of knowing the box was changing. So now unless I can get the boxes from 3rd party, I just won’t even be starting the army unless they miraculously give us a comparable box.
@@tellumyort have you looked at the Troll Trader in the UK? If you are in the US, shipping may be as low as $11. Spending around $100 is where you start saving some money. You may need to strip some paint off a few models, but that place has helped me stay in the hobby when things got really expensive.
Its worked before, and it lined their pockets even better! They only care for their shareholders, customers are an entitled thing they believe they have nowadays... and you're their bitches not real customers.

Don't be silly, The middle finger will be printed on cheap paper using a printer from the 90s that barely prints. Anything more than that might actually start to resemble a deal.

If GW continues to raise their prices every year in about 5 years the price of a 3d printer will be about the same as a box set for 40K, which roughly means you can make a one time purchase of a 3d printer and proxy literally every army in the game for the same price as buying one of each mini in the full range of Admech models.

@@Swampsong117 as printers become easier to produce and more readily accessible the price will drop. 5-7ish years ago you had to spend $1000 to get a printer good enough to print minis now you can get them for around the 300-400 dollar range.
Not to mention many public spaces are also making 3d printers available. Every state library where I live has a 3d printer you pay for the resin and 10¢ a printed file for upkeep costs to the library.

But even when inflation is almost nonexistent they raise prices on par with the worst of inflation in recent years, they do that every single year - all while every other miniature company on the planets' prices stay the same. For example, since roughly 4-th edition 40k, he prices of started boxes has gone up by... 200%, do you think that there ha been 200% percent inflation since that time?

GSC Combat Patrol gonna drop by like 230pts and be either a disjointed pile of kits that don't sell well or push a particular playstyle. It will be objectively worse no matter what they do because it cannot be better than it already is and there's no way they wont throttle the value now they've got the chance.
As always, I'll happily accept being wrong, but its GW we're talking about.
I mean: they would have to keep the current contents or add stuff to IMPROVE the savings, which is just not going to happen. I think in general people tend to ignore that both GSC and SoB were the EXCEPTION with their CP offerings, absolutely not the rule.

@@aeow8859 The best bet for affordable GSC is likely going to be the £140 box assuming they get one. Which will have about 12 in print globally so there's gonna be a very small number of people who can appreciate those savings.
Artificial rarity and FOMO exploitation, lets gooo (ain't no way such a massive company that constantly runs out of stock is always managing to accidentally understock limited print products as much as they do).
@@aeow8859 Oh for sure! You could have gone a LOT worse than buying three or four Combat Patrols and calling it at that. Or two and just a few more units individually - though you would feel the heat with those.
My current GSC army consists of: "Deathwatch Overkill", the GSC Boarding Patrol and the current Combat Patrol. That's somewhere above 1500 points IIRC, did not cost me an arm and a leg and has a cool variety of stuff. I am looking forward to convert some Brood Brothers.
I would never have gotten this army without getting those boxes at some form of discount (partly 'bay, partly FLGS). Buying all of that at MSRP and as individual unit boxes/blisters though? No way!
The SoB box was good and bad at the same time. Having bought two of the original SoB box, and then a Combat Patrol. Both the original box and the combat patrol were identical except for the inclusion of a Rhino. They were also all monopose kits with no wargear options. So great for one box, terrible with more. Fortunately easy to modify if you get regular kits.
This is the way. I got a few normal SOB battle sister boxes. Pricy but versatile and with some snippers you can easily customize the monopose girls. Especially that sister superior.
Multiple Combat Patrols were still worth it, you just have to get the wargear from regular boxes.

@@NianfurI feel the same, but it'll be a shame to see the monopose stuff to disappear completely. Some of those poses are pretty good. I bet our new kit will just be last year's boarding patrol + maybe a rhino.
RIP. The new generation will never know the joy of collecting GSC without having to take a mortgage.
I'd noticed the other day that the sisters boxset had vanished over night. Was on the fence with using 3rd party models for them but I might as well now!
You can probably still find one in local game stores or online.
Or you know, wait for the next one. Or bought it when it was available, for several years. And third party. Never buy from gw directly.

Amazon has a good supply of GSC. I know it’s not the FLGS but get it where you can.
A lot of those listed on there and eBay are other people's FLGS (at least in the US)
I just picked mine up from Amazon. I've been sitting on it for a while, but it's probably the best GSC deal we're likely to get

As a GSC enthusiast, it's a damn good thing I never order from GW directly. Amazon and Ebay have saved me an obnoxious amount of pain, and it seems that's the optimal way to avoid whatever the fuck John Workshop is doing to our boxes.
I literally bought like 5 or 6 combat patrol boxes because I knew at some point it was going to get the axe. The box was just too good.

That really is such a GW way of addressing value concerns about combat patrols. If it's too good of a value, get rid of it, because we can't dare sell a good box, then all the other boxes look worse.

@daweimer71 Eventually, any sufficiently large company will become focused entirely on the generation of capital. The purpose of a company is not to create products that work, or are good, but for them to sell so they can get profit-- being good or even functional is just a happy side effect.
The main problem with this is a lack of leadership culture-- the "all take and no give". Leadership of companies is not selected for by those who are passionate about what the company does, but for who can appease shareholders the most, and who can look out for their own personal incentives the most. If there's an incentive to give oneself a $500,000 bonus or 1,000 employees a $500 bonus, guess what they're going to do?
90% of a company's success comes from the people who produce the labor - i.e. the ones in the trenches. Without sculptors, designers, manufacturers, etc., these C-suite executives would be executives of nothing. I'm sure there's some studies about how or why this phenomena happens, but it often reminds me of how people will make fun of fast food workers despite wanting to get fast food; these people are essential to the end goal but are treated as disposable and interchangeable.

3D Printer sales must be going insane
People seem to think 3d printing is big, and it really isn't. It makes a miniscule percentage
Not really for sisters or GSC, their models are pretty spindly and the quality of the GW plastic for them is pretty fantastic (they're basically all new models from recent range updates). For vehicles and bits, sure, but I'd hate to have to deal with resin for like 60 sisters or a billion neophytes.
@@chrisj9628 idk what you mean but there is an actual wide range of sister models for 3d printers and there are a bunch of awesome ones underneath them.
also a lot which seem like the original, you might just have to search longer. if you start to deal with resin you wont stop at 60 sisters and a billion neophytes. you will go on and print everything.
im drowning in gray models currently. since i printed 6000 points of necrons, about 4000 points of space marines and a bunch of tau models.
probably ill start with votann next. maybe ill just sell my admech and print a bunch of the stationforge models. and dont even get me started on tyranids.
+ dealing with resin really is no big deal. physic trash has to be hardened so you can just throw it in the normal trash, wear gloves and take the water/ipa to some chemical deposit. - open windows while printing. no problem at all.
Considering the fierce competition between 3d printer brands as well. They are falling each other to make better printers at cheaper prices. Yeah it's actually going great! Everybody wins, well... except GW, but GW has been trying hard to lose for awhile so I guess they are happy? (:
@@jacket2848 actually makes up a pretty decent percentage nowadays, ESPECIALLY compared to where it was 5 years ago.
It’s like when you hear people say ‘well, this technology (for example, AI) isn’t even that widespread yet, and it’s not even that good’.
That technology was learning to crawl for ten years- now it’s figured it out, and it immediately skipped walking and started sprinting.
3D printing, and the range and skill of community designers, has developed scarily quickly in only a decade.
I don’t think GW’s ‘dead today!!1!1’…. But give them 15 years of these business practices, while printers become more and more convenient and skill-less to use, and they’re in a sinking ship through no one’s fault but their own.

Super easy, barely an inconvenience
If they make the sisters combat patrol box non monopose, I would actually like that. Right now, that box is good for one or two purchases and you still get a weird amount of models. Imagine they are crazy enough to put retributors in the new combat patrol box... Retributors, 10 sisters, a cannoness or palatine and an immolator, would already feel like a reasonably good box, just throw one more thing in there and you're golden.
I started collecting Sisters this edition, and honestly I’m glad we’re getting a new combat patrol. Truth is that beyond buying one single CP it’s basically a valueless box, because the squads don’t combine. You would have to buy 4 boxes for a full squad of arcos and 3 for a full set of repentia, plus the lack of sister, canoness, seraphim, and penitent options really hurts. It’s not so bad if you’re not worried about WYSIWYG, but honestly the numbers alone make it pretty bad past one copy.
If that spider guy is in Necromunda, I’m betting it has to do with Van Saar.

Picked up 4 GSC Combat Patrol boxes a month or two ago, so glad I did
IDEAL GSC Combat Patrol: 5x Acolytes, 10-20x Neophytes, 5x Atalan Jackals, 1x Achilles Ridgerunner & one HQ.
I kind of hope they drop Crusaders, Death Cult Assassins, Preachers, and Missionaries.
With the combat patrol goong away, they can also get rid of the wonky squad sizes caused by the limited model counts in the box.
Even if the army gets worse from the change, i'd not miss those hideous models.
Well there's a lot of great proxy versions of all those.

Removing units entirely is never a good thing, and the Ecclesiarchy side of the army is an important part of them. Squad sizes should be able to be chose on a per model basis anyway.

It’s not looking good for new players but if you already own those boxes and the new boxes don’t have a lot of redundancy with them, it’s a good way to add to your army.
The article did a lot of the enslaver beach ball/ballon referencing which lines up with asthorath mercy of angels book where there the antagonist
I JUST bought the Sisters Box precisely b/c I saw this coming. That having been said, the new Tau Combat Patrol seems ok, I hope they are getting better at it.
Sisters box looks awesome as a project, if not for actual play. Floater looks very small looking at how thick the flight stand is. I guess Neurogaunt variant, for not 40k?
Worth mentioning that this might make the Combat Patrol Magazine subscription (which I believe is going to have the old boxes) more valuable.

I don't think they really come out until August or so.
Yes I was thinking just this when they started changing up the Combat patrols. The announcement/limited run back in January was supposedly them gauging interest. Be interesting to see if anything is changed for the main release in August (?). They did proudly show off quite detailed images of what you'll get.
They are treating their business model more like the MtG kind that keeps you cycling in and out of product and genuinely worried about missing releases of models you like. And if Amazon is selling them, your FLGS is getting cut out. All of that, and they still *loathe* you.

The good news at least is the old GSC combat patrol will be appearing in the new Combat Patrol magazine from Hachette. Although I'll just be getting the rockgrinder and additional Atalan Jackals issues for Necromunda vehicles.

Im willing to bet the GSC CP will be themed around speed. So far GW has made it obvious they are going with units that werent in the previous CP as well as units that may not be seeling as well.

Just bought Sisters last week for it’s nice range of models. Only weakness is customization options for each model. There even are three pairs of exactly the same model. On the other hand it’s nice to build if you really only want them to be used for Combat Patrol. In contrast Chaos Space marine Combat Patrol was a nightmare to build to the Combat patrol loadout with the included instruction. But they have lots of variations and extra bits.
For some reason the model reminded me of the descriptions for the early chaos realm entities that existed during the war in heaven(Before the retcons where the deamons were pretty much how they are now, even slaaneshi deamons) if I remember correctly they were sort of like primordial chaos entities that sometimes broke through to the real world and would suck out souls on contact or something?
Whilst I'm really excited for plastic mechanicum in HH I really hope they show more plastic Solar Auxilia as well. There's loads they still need to do it that army
I hope the new boxes won't be as bad as others, since both armies are very expensive to own. I could live with a motorized genestealer box: Jackals, Jackal Alphus, Ridgerunner and 10 standart troops. But what we propably get is an infantry only bad one.
As for sisters... they will throw in the kits that don't sell well, so we will get Sacresants, a Dogmata, popably Novices and a Rhino.
I am now so glad i got both of these sets. I went and bought the genestealer box as soon as i saw your video where you first mentioned it may be removed upon the codex launch.

Well that sucks. Overnight the GSC combat patrols are all $175-250. I had two in my cart at $136 waiting to get paid tomorrow.
Glad I bought two GSC combat patrols back many months ago, but it's a shame other life expenses stopped me from getting at least one more, and now I'm likely to get a box full of air from GW as the next one.
I _hate_ the combat patrol canoness but I love the unique battle sisters.
They did this to correspond with their price hike coming in June. I'm so happy I'm getting in to 3D printing. Gw need to be humbled.
The Sisters Combat Patrol still has the issue with the original monopose release minis without any weapon options. I hope that GW finally gets rid of them as they served their purpose. So i am not that sad that this box is gone now. I expect the next Sisters CbPt to finally have the full multi part miniatures.
Evidently the new GSC one will be the Broodcoven, 20x Neophytes, and 10x Genestealers. Maybe another character.
At least the GSC CP will be part of the CP magazine so there's still a chance to get those minis for cheap.
I feel like this probably means that Sisters and GSC are both only getting like one character release each and a quick release of of both codexes in early/mid June. AoS Fourth edition is probably releasing late June/early July, so if they squeeze Sisters and GSC (and probably Kill Team: Termination) in there it'll bridge the gap.
Also, just one man's guess but I'm thinking the new GSC box might be bikes heavy. Maybe a of Acolytes, two units of Bikes, a Ridgerunner, an Alphus and a Reductus Saboteur.

The sisters combat patrol was weird because of how they designed the sprue - everything is mixed up. This means one of 2 things as far as i'm concerned. They will just drop the rhino or there is going to be a complete sprue redesign. If they redo the sprue, they could do anything and its likely to be a poor value product.

I'm not sure it's an Enslaver, they're way bigger and more scrotal and don't have the crab vibe that this does. I think it's a different floaty round thing!
Every so often I consider getting the SoB Combat Patrol but I don't like the lack of model customization and the weird unit sizes for arco-flagellants and repentia. If the new one has some actual customizable sisters, keeps the rhino and a character, and maybe throws in some Paragon Warsuits, then I'd consider it a strong contender for a christmas purchase.

I'm wondering if they're going to release codexes in pairs this edition, sisters vs GSC would be an interesting combo box. GK vs daemons would be a pretty obvious pairing.

I don't play the game but I've always heard from everyone without exception, that GSC CP is the single most critical box set for its corresponding faction, far more so than any other. Since the start of 9th ed CP purge, I've always wondered when GSC will be axed. Well, let's see what the new one will look like. Hopefully it's at least better than the crap ass ultramarine CP box...
If the Sister of Battle box has a jump pack canoness in it, it'll have to also have at least one box of seraphim/zepharim, maybe 2. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
10th Edition Combat Patrol history would suggest that having an HQ alongside a unit it can actually join is unlikely.

My prediction for the new Sisters Combat Patrol: 10 Battle Sisters, 5 Sacresants, 5 Retributors, Jump Pack Canoness.
No centrepiece unit, standard troops, the least popular melee unit, a heavy weapons team that basically requires a transport to function, and a leader that can't join anything. Exactly what I expect of a 10th edition Combat Patrol.
I mean, I really like all the models you mentioned (specially the Sacresants), but it is true that the removal of transports in all boxes is quite harsh, particularly for an army with such fragile infantry.

My first thought when seeing the brain bug was necromunda, as it looks like a spider, though it has 10 legs and tentacles. The center eye makes me think of medusae from drukari. So in conclusion Hive secundus cephalopod spector.
I don't play genestealers but I'm keeping a close eye on how they handle their combat patrol. I play grey knights so there is a lot of equivalence
I think what GW is doing, is making the Combst Patrols worse in preparation for the price rise on models, so that they keep the combat patrols the same price but their discount will go back to what it is currently after the price hike.
Damn, I really wanted to buy at least one more of the GSC patrol before it went away. Wasn't expecting it to be so soon. Fingers crossed the Hachette magazine makes its way to Canada at a reasonable price.
...or I'll be 3D printing the rest of my GSC army. I do already have the STLs to do it.
Feel like I started and finished my GSC army just in time. Had shadow throne, the old start collecting box and 3 combat patrols as the core foundation. I feel for new players wanting to start GSC, I doubt a new version is going to improve on what we've had the past few years, but that doesn't mean its going to be flat out bad. See what GW comes out with before you start complaining.
As a DG player, I feel like maybe us & 1kSons are the only ones who genuinely aren't going to shed a tear over our current CP's finally biting the dust...
Death Guard's current CP was literally 100% illegal out of the box when it dropped in 9th, and 1kSons is easy to confuse for an AoS set that got put into the wrong packaging!
Gonna be extra special to see how GW can now make those sets even worse! ;-)

Death Guard isn't going to get a new box unless they drop a regular squad box to 5, and then they'll get 2 of those in the box.
As for Deathwatch, I think they're on the way out as a whole army.

1kSons desperately *NEED* a big wave release. 1 new model in 7 years is a fething insult.
But right now it feels like odds are there's nothing new for 1kSons this edition, and their "new" CP will be 20 Tzaan's, a Tzaan Shaman and a Mutilith Beast.
Deathwatch would be awesome to see them get rolled into the upcoming Agents codex, then release 2-3 new upscaled kits that can cover a 'traditional' DW unit, a melee specialist & a support specialist Kill Teams.
All I can say is, 11th edition seriously *deserves* to be the edition of Grey Knights, Dark Eldar & Chaos, Chaos, Chaos! (...give us big waves with minimum 3-4+ kits for DG, 1kSons, WE's, Daemons, Knights and bring in Lost and the Damned/Dark Mech, plus those long-rumored new Bikers for CSM's & Legion upgrade kits)
I am hoping for a new campaign book for Necromunda, but a faction or starter box would be good, too.

Such bad news. This gsc box was the only way for me to start this army, I buyd 3 of them to build my army. Hope it will be as good as the current box for new players
I'm morbidly curious as to how bad the new cult patrol box will be.
Also furiously fighting fomo because I KNOW how much of a value the gsc box is. My teeny gsc forces will have to do without though, good thing I like conversions!
The head crab is neat, seems like a solid addition to any sci-fi collection.
Not to be a GW apologist, but the new Custodes combat patrol is easily on par with the prior one. And can actually be bought more than once - which the old one couldnt.
So there is hope!
I have not seen the upcoming price increase in June discussed in relation to GSC/SoB CP boxes yet.
With most of their range going up, as well as CPs getting a hike as well, there is NOW WAY the new boxes are a better deal than what we had until now. There might be a good saving in terms of percentages - higher individual prices really help with this of course - but take the current CP contents at todays $ value (or your local currency of choice) and compare them to what is in the next box after the "price adjustments"... it will be DEPRESSING.
My assumption is that both GSC and SoB will get a CP like AdMech: looks nice on the cover, and probably a cool project for building and painting some lovely miniatures... just don't ask how many points this is on the table.
If that is Enslavers for 40k.... I'll definitely be tempted to get into them.

sisters Combat Patrol is gonna be a jump character leading, some battle sisters, arco flags and a retributor squad
I'd guess the new model on the left is some goblin banner or similar, but honestly no clue
I'm happy the Sisters Box is getting switched out, it's just not a good set. yes, it has a good discount, but you never gonna play min unit size f across and repent and since they are only sold in 10 man squads the ones in the combat patrol are pretty much useless. And the sisters/seraphim being monopole is pretty bat too

I thought the sisters one was not a great one the figures were released in the imperium magazine and the genestealer one is coming in the new combat patrol, magazine along with a unit of jackals
every time i feel like im getting closer to being able to play my first game of WH40k GW makes moves that makes me feel like ill never get there
GW taking away the genestealer cults combat patrol creates another faction that is basically unaffordable, right up there with sisters and Admech. I would say “wait until the new combat patrol is revealed” but we know full well it’s going to be worse than the current one as that has (mostly) been the trend this edition.

Do people think that the floating brain thing that could be an enslaver or one of the other really "alien" races that exist in the fluff might be a new faction? My the redacted codex is what this is? It would be pretty sweet to get more Xenos armies.

The new genestealer cults combat patrol isnthe same box exceot no vehicle, for 115€. Sweden got a 15% price increase so 135€

When are the krave gonna get added into 40k? Still the coolest threat in the setting imo
