Thank you so much for fantastic job on my special piece of furniture bought back lots of lovely memories when my husband used to to his graphics on it thanks again for the amazing work you have made me very happy and would like to thank you personally ..Silvia loller (Carl loller mum )
Hi Sylvia. Thanks you so much for personally getting in touch. I really enjoyed doing this special piece of furniture for you and I know how special it is to you at this difficult time. Pleases accept my sincere condolences to you for the loss of your husband. I’m so pleased you like what I’ve done to the table and that it’s brought back some lovely memories for you and the family. Take care. David 😀😀x
It strikes me that he has given you something nearly priceless. Sorry for your loss, Mrs. Ioller. Glad you have this beautiful piece of history to warm your heart.
So sorry for your loss Mrs Loller, such a beautiful thing to have our memories both physically to touch the table and mentally remembering your loved one sitting at it and working. Sending love and condolences to you and your family x
David - I can’t thank you enough for the marvellous restoration of my Nans and Fathers bridge table. The video is lovely. I can’t wait to hear what my Mother and two sisters make of the video and the restored piece too. I will pass on their comments to you. Once again, huge thanks and we love your work!
Hi Carl. You are very welcome and it was a pleasure to work on it. I know this piece means a great deal to you and the family and I’m so pleased it will take pride of place in your home. Just got the chair to do for you now once I get back from my holiday. I look forward to seeing you soon and please let me know what your Mum and Sisters think of the video. Take care. David 😀👍
My condolences for the loss of your father. I hope you get comfort and joy from both the restored bridge table and the video to remember it with too xxx
Gorgeous design to begin with. I love the curves and lines of this old piece, but that it does double duty and opens up is a bonus. Your respect of vintage furniture and love/skill of bringing things back to life is evident. It IS a sad story but your client has to be thrilled that this part of the story continues with happy memories. Lovely.
This table turned out gorgeous! I know your customer is so happy with your work and that you brought his father's table back to life. What a treasured family heirloom.
Just beautiful!! Looked dried out and sad before. Now it is ready for many decades more of use and enjoyment. I am sure it will be a source of memories and comfort to the owner. You really did the piece proud.
So so beautiful 😍 a wonderful, thoughtful restoration. From cleaning the felt instead of replacing to ensuring the plugs were back on the table in some form keeping it intact. I could sit and watch your restore this in full quite happily ..... With a fair few Daisy interludes inbetween of course 😂
Hi Kim, that’s a lovely comment, thank you. My customer and his family loved the finished table and it brought back a lot of lovely memories for them. 😀😀
David, once again you have done a wonderful job and restored this old table to a like new condition. Your Daisy almost has human expressions on her face. She is a precious girl. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Anita, thank you so much. Daisy is like a little human in furry body, she has so many facial expressions it’s like she can communicate with me 😀😀😀🐶🐶
How beautiful! Oh my goodness, you are a master at work. I am so happy that I found your channel, I really appreciate and enjoy watching you create these masterpieces, thank you for sharing your time and talent. Take care, stay safe. Oh, I almost forgot, thank you for sharing precious Daisy also!
Another triumph! This table is now quite, quite lovely and will give double pleasure to your client. When he looks at the table he will see a beautiful piece of furniture and remember his father. I so admire the way that you take an honest pride in your work. BRITISH craftsmanship of the very best.
I love how you meticulously save these old pieces of history, it’s an absolute joy to see them saved from landfills. I hope these pieces that you pour your heart into are saved for generations to come.
👍Top work fella. Always good to do ‘proper’ restoration. Over the past few years I’ve seen a steady increase in the amount of requests for painting and revamping. Nothing wrong with it, and of cause, some items would end up in the skip if we didn’t, however restoration in the true sense is where I get the most satisfaction. I do have a question that I ask fellow restorers and that is, have you ever had someone bring you an antique piece insisting you paint it and you advise them against it but they are adamant so you point blank refuse. 🤔. Oh, I have only ever had one answer to this question😉
Thanks Dan. I’ll be honest in that I just love working with old furniture and hopefully saving it from being skipped like you say. I don’t really prefer one or the other but some pieces just ‘need’ to be restored rather than restyled with paint etc. I have had the odd instance where a customer wanted me to paint but I persuaded them that it wouldn’t be the right way to go and they’ve trusted my judgement. I haven’t had to point blank refuse anyone yet but If it was a ‘proper’ antique then I definitely wouldn’t paint it, so if they insisted I’d be ok telling them it’s not for me. I’ve actually got an antique Bobbin chair in my stock that I’m still trying to find some background on. I certainly won’t be painting it and i’m thinking of trying the Howard’s restor a finish on it and maybe reupholstering the seat. 😀😀👍
@@MayfieldRestorations I have had to persuade people not to paint on a few occasions. To be fair, most people do not realise their item is an antique or of decent enough quality to restore or preserve. It’s funny how when a piece isn’t of particular sentimental value and you tell them it’s worth more left alone rather than painted they soon go off the idea 💷😉
I loved the background story. I'm sad for the passing of the father, but he sees this finished piece and I believe he is quite pleased. This was so satisfying, the before and after were such a difference. I love the 2-tone colors, especially with the satin finish. The beautiful old grain in the oak stands out perfectly with the finish. This is a unique, well built piece, I'm so glad we got to observe the restoration of this truly gorgeous piece of furniture.
You did a wonderful job revamping this much loved table. It holds such a special place in the hearts of the family. You took such care to keep it as original as possible and I know how happy that makes the family. WELL DONE!😁
Hi Jennifer. It was sad news when my customer told me when he dropped off the table. He’s done his Dad (and Nan) proud to get it restored and it will take pride of place in his home now. 😀😀
Thank you for revealing the emotions that are attached to furniture, especially case goods like this. Every piece has had a family and a history. I hope your client writes his out and keeps with the piece for always so that the future you gave this table will travel with it and warm the hearts of those in its’ future. I have several things that nearing their two hundredth birthday, I want someone to know the joy, pride and love that the pieces have known. These lovely pieces of furniture soldier on and it is our responsibility to keep their function and history alive.
This has been a sad day on UA-cam. The beautiful wife of another UA-camr I follow passed away unexpectedly, and then your client's father. I am so glad you got this table looking so spectacularly beautiful! That and a minute with Daisy cheered me up immensely! Thank you. By the way, mixing baking soda and vinegar, when done in balanced amounts, results in carbon dioxide- the bubbles released - and water. I don't know why people recommend mixing them when you don't need the pressure as you would if you used it for a drain opener. I hope you are having a lovely day and thanks again!
Hi Molly, that’s really sad to hear… I’m so pleased that my work and my little Daisy cheered you up a bit. On the bicarbonate I’m pretty sure I didn’t do it properly and too be honest I think you’re right, I don’t think I’ll be using that method again 🤣🤣👍😀
Beautiful restoration. I appreciate fine fabrics and textiles. I’m glad you cleaned and preserved the original felt lining because it is likely thick pure wool felt, which isn’t as readily available in most retail stores. The synthetic felt purchased today would never have withstood the rigorous scrubbing.
What a beautiful piece, and beautifully restored. I was amazed at how good the felt inside the drawers looked with a clean-up. When you tell the story behind the piece, it adds something special to the post. Thanks for sharing your work with us.
