I also get a 'one off' knock from rear when transferring from one road surface to another. I run 36psi rear 255/35 and 34psi front 225/40. Wondering on other drivers pressures (?)

The speaker system. The cheapest way i found was to replace the front and back with Kicker 4" coaxial speakers. Will add more clarity and treble without the bass going high and low. I then unplugged the underseat sub which arents subs, theyre a speaker in a box that sound distorted. I bought a cheap amplified underseat sub and wired it up under passenger seat. Sounds alot better and cost roughly £120 all in.
I have 2015 330d gt and have a knock in the back too when driving over a pothole or a bigger bump. Really annoying and can't find what it is, suspension was checked and all good
I just got one of those chinese head units with a 10 inch screen for mine, was only £300 you can fit it yourself. Miles better than the OEM piece of shit it came with. I have 19s, never had anything else, never had a problem with comfort.
I've seen a video about the handbrake cable clip breaking above the prop shaft where it attaches to the fuel tank, worth having a look for the rattle/knock noise 👍
I'm on the 19s and they actually seem ok, but then I did recently switch from an E90, albeit with non-run-flats (which I'll deffo consider in future, but I'll try living with them for a while first). I agree the standard speakers are just about adequate and not really suited to music lovers.
I see what you mean probably but there is still quite a visible difference even with black wheels ..just have to be extra careful if I go for 19s quite a price difference to
@@BMWFAMuk dunno if there's a way for you to try them 19s with run flats but I'm all for ditching them and going conventional. Much more choice of tyre too. I ran my E90 for 5 years on standard Eagle F1s and just carried tyre weld an an inflator in the boot. Got one puncture in that time and was an hour from home (motorway too) on a Sunday so just used my rescue service to get home and got the tyre done next day.
Defo gunna look into it normal tyres are cheaper to ..going to look at that wheelbase they have loads of choice think you can try them on there to ..19s will look a lot smarter 👍
Good summary; had my 2018 330d MS now for 4 years and it’s the best all rounder I’ve owned. Economy is insane for the power (42 around town and 55 on the mway) so potential for a 600mi range. I’m running 18s which are ok with Goodyear F1 RFs and the price difference isn’t worth to switch to Non-RFTs. Mine has the ProNav and is touch screen so found the screen size a good compromise but I agree, the sound system isn’t great. I’ve had the EGR cooler replaced twice FOC by BMW, the cruise module is playing up (CC intermittent failure messages on idrive) and one of the screen washer jets has lost its tine spray cartridge so pretty minor issues tbh. It’s going in today for new front pads and I get some vibration under heavy braking which is being looked at so this is the first non maintenance item in 4 years. Overall, this is a great car, comfortable and more than fast enough to give most cars a run for their money. Can’t see me chopping in the near future as the alternatives are just too expensive. I paid £22k in May ‘19 for a Feb ‘18 with high spec I.e. mem seats, heated SW, ProNav, folding rear seats and black out glass. I’d definitely try and get one with ProNav as the audio can be upgraded quite easily, mem seats are nice but not essential but I would do without a heated SW now.

Have seen a lot about dpf/egr issues, do you think i’d be likely to run into any dpf issues considering i’d have at least 2-3 long motorway journeys a month? Usual city commute would be about 10 miles but on the mway it’d be 120 miles round trip. Many thanks!
Hi mate thanks for watching..as for the dpf when your doing them motorway trips just open it up a bit and you should be good …when purchasing the car make sure egr and egr cooler have been replaced under the latest recall and you should be all good to go 👍😎

What type of MPG are you getting if your doing doing journeys? And do these cars have any timing chain issues like the 2L. I'm looking at getting one but need it to last over 150k miles as I do approx 20k a year. Nice car 👌
Thanks buddy ..I’m doing 300 miles a week mainly motorway byepass and town driving and I’m getting 51 . 2 mpg the cars mapped but that’s amazing for a three litre ..this is in eco mode so be a lot less in sport or comfort mode ..as for the timing chains it is mainly on the 20ds but it has been known to happen on 30d and 35ds however a gent who subscribes says a bmw specialist he knows said a guy who’s maintaining his 330d every 7 k is on 170 k no issues with timing chains at all ..I’ve just done an 8 k service that could be the key 👍
The 3l ones are also affected, but due to the smoothness of inline 6 the chains has a longer lifetime. Around here the recommended mileage to change chains (and everything related) is around 200k KMs for the 2l ones and 250k KMs for the 3l ones.
That knocking noise at the back of the car is possible tail light loose , try to shake it and let me know please. It is fokin honest review pal, I'll go and get 640D with 20" instead😅 Tha😂
There the bad points after a year In my opinion it was a compromise between price and mileage if I was going for another bmw I would spec it differently now …my opinion
Tacky? Think about every time you clean them with a big wheel brush.. doesn’t that do it for you? Cause it does me & im female.. The wheels are banging. Again not your style. I get that. would you rather a pair or rotaforms? Maybe some BBS? Wolf race? Z performance? Bentley wheels? Some nice multi spokes that are a JOKE to wash.. gotta get in there with a tooth brush. Happy new year btw. 🎉😊
I always like the look. White on blacks. I find German paint are a hard paint compared to the likes of Tesla and Japanese cars there for it’s harder to chip. Lighter colour cars the likes of your white and silver hides defects on the paint really well compared to darker colours. Black cars you can spot defects a mile away eg scratches, swirls, etchings etc

Hi mate yeah you do read some bad stuff about re maps however I’ve always found go to a good company that offers a warranty for there work and you shouldn’t have a problem I’m on my second map now and they have been fantastic mpg and performance..I’m torn between wheels I do a lot of miles so need comfort but I’m a sucker for looks 😂and it’s the jump in price for tires ..oh I just use my phone for a sat nav 😬as for spoilers we were discussing this the other day I want a full csl spoiler but unsure if it will ruin the contours of the car so maybe a small lip spoiler 👍
@@BMWFAMuk I've seen a few quite a few F30 and F31 that look a bit tacky and yes the car is nice looking without the kit, cheers
I'm torn between 320 or 330d, Right now I have a 118d. Either one will be better. I'm doing 5k a year in mileage. Any suggestions? I know much more power with the 330d
Hi mate ..as you say you will notice the difference as coming from a 118d ..how much difference is the question go for the 20d you will notice the power increase..but the 30d will be night and day and it’s got the smooth six cylinder..I’d defo go for the 30d mate great all rounders performance and economy 😎👍
330d
330d all day long. I’ve driven both but now own the 6cyl. They’re smooth and effortlessly powerful.
Not a single issue that wasn't because of the spec 😅 should have looked for a little longer and found one with nicer optional extras
True mate that’s why it’s gone now 👍
Got a black 2013. 310 Remap straight away. Transfered my 19s from e92 330d (put the 18s on that), refurb wheels dark metal, tints, splitter, rear lip. About 2 years ago. Thinking bout dpf delete or turbo hose kit to spice up again... Not sure
I also get a 'one off' knock from rear when transferring from one road surface to another. I run 36psi rear 255/35 and 34psi front 225/40. Wondering on other drivers pressures (?)
Hi mate so be interested to see what the wheels from the e92 look like on it ..I know mines 310 to be honest I’m quite happy with the performance at the mo but seeing a few builds online is starting to give me ideas 👍
@@onesoldsoul my friend this really does my head it happens at the weirdest times ☹️
@@BMWFAMuk just took some pics but don't know how to upload to this chat 😢
@@onesoldsoul sadly you can’t upload pics to UA-cam chats I know it’s annoying..a lot of people message us through facebook or instagram if you have them 😎👍
The speaker system.
Hi mate sounds good did you fit that all yourself it sounds like a cheaper option than trying to retro fit the harman kardan 👍😎
I have 2015 330d gt and have a knock in the back too when driving over a pothole or a bigger bump. Really annoying and can't find what it is, suspension was checked and all good
Hi mate I know …I’ve just learnt to live with it now 😞
I just got one of those chinese head units with a 10 inch screen for mine, was only £300 you can fit it yourself. Miles better than the OEM piece of shit it came with.
I have 19s, never had anything else, never had a problem with comfort.
I've seen a video about the handbrake cable clip breaking above the prop shaft where it attaches to the fuel tank, worth having a look for the rattle/knock noise 👍
Thanks mate ile defo have a look into that 👍👍👍😎
@330dfam replying to an old comment but I currently have that exact issue, just haven't put it on a ramp to fix yet.
It’s annoying not sure if mine is the handbrake 🤷♂️
I'm on the 19s and they actually seem ok, but then I did recently switch from an E90, albeit with non-run-flats (which I'll deffo consider in future, but I'll try living with them for a while first). I agree the standard speakers are just about adequate and not really suited to music lovers.
Hi mate got to admit I’m edging towards 19s just like my big balloon tyre’s saved me from a kerb a few weeks ago just don’t look as good 😌
@@BMWFAMuk would the difference be less pronounced with the black ones?
(at least until the tyres get shitty)
Hi mate funny how we all like an individual spec and how stuff niggles us I will get the screen done at some point but I don’t really need it ..sound like you have a decent car ..do you plan to keep or move on in the near future ?😎👍
@@BMWFAMuk yep, the only option I really miss is the better stereo. Just from discs/pads done so will keep for another couple of years.
@@adrianwhitehead1950 yeah worth keeping at the min mate still not sure on the new shape ..I’m the same with the stereo …ps how much did the discs and pads set you back ?😎👍
@@BMWFAMuk it was £550 at a main dealer as I asked them to check the suspension.
@@adrianwhitehead1950 that’s not to bad I paid 500 for front discs pads and rear pads 😬
How much did you get for your 330d?
I’m looking to sell my 318d lci b47 engine 60k and idk if I can get 9k for it, it has decent options
Hi mate traded it in cheap got six of tire kickers and wanted the car I’ve got now markets mental traded mine in for 7.5 not good at all
@@BMWFAMuk dealers are always scammers with documents, that’s mental. I’ve bought mine last year with 10.8k and after few months I’ve tried to swap with 420d but the same dealer gave me only 8k for it, the reason “trade value is different”
I’m still trying to swap mine with 4 series

What screen are you upgrading to? It's my beef with the car too
Hi mate to honest I was looking at the bmw professional ones that are a bit bigger than ours they are around 200 upwards on eBay was also considering Apple car play
My home town also great video very interesting
Hey buddy cool 👌…cheers 👍
Thanks ive subscribed great videos thinking about getting the 330d .
Thanks mate there great motors and questions just ask ile try to get back to you 👍
Thanks I will definitely be looking into it but need to finish off my batboat first .
@colscopters cool sounds interesting mate 👍💪
Love the videos thinking of getting a 330d but most come with high mileage this puts me off a little any advice
Hi mate thanks for watching..I wouldn’t be to afraid of high mileage just check the history is up to date and kept to regular oil changes 7 to 10 k also worth checking mot history to see what it’s failed on then you know what’s been replaced ..what mileage have you been looking at ?
@@BMWFAMuk they have all been around 70,80 mk priced 15 to 18k one had 100,000 on the clock
I’d defo consider one with 70 to 80 k on the clock mate as long as there is full service history..100k the price would have to be right..the price of the 3L diesels has gone crazy in the last year or two 😩
Brilliant car. Reliable. Don’t worry about mileage as long as it has service history
@@jeffzafiropoulos577 hi mate totally agree 😎👍
I’m having a problem with my bmw f31, between 30-50kmh when I release my foot from gas somthing hit’s underneath bmw is xdrive I changed oil but nothing thanks

@@BMWFAMuk about last week i did car check but the mechanic didn’t find nothing
@@shpenndi2 did he take the car for a test drive ? Does it happen every time at them speeds
Did he look at prop shaft bearings? Don’t think it’s common, but depends on driving style, and how much gas u give it then let off?
@@BMWFAMukit happens evrytime sometimes hits more sometimes less
In two years, have you ever scraped the bottom of the car on the road?
EG when pressing on - at up to the speed limit - on country B roads.
to be honest the roads are quite flat round here however i do take care over speed bumps , i think if i lowered the car it would defo have issues as the front end gets quite close to kerbs as is .wonder if the last owner has lowered yours ?
Hi mate loved the video! Very extensive info :). Just wanted a bit of advice, i’m looking to get a f30 330d as well, this one is msport+ pack and is at 80k miles and 1 owner since new. Have seen a lot about dpf/egr issues, do you think i’d be likely to run into any dpf issues considering i’d have at least 2-3 long motorway journeys a month? Usual city commute would be about 10 miles but on the mway it’d be 120 miles round trip. Many thanks!
Hi mate thanks for watching..as for the dpf when your doing them motorway trips just open it up a bit and you should be good …when purchasing the car make sure egr and egr cooler have been replaced under the latest recall and you should be all good to go 👍😎
@@BMWFAMuk Thanks for the reply :) Going to view the one im looking at next week saturday and Im well excited. Car does come with FSH, is there anything I should look out for when viewing/test driving? Appreciate the response 😁
No problem buddy I’d mainly check service history which it has full so that’s good I’d also type the reg in check mot history see what it’s failed on ..check the wheels and tires make sure the rims arnt heavily scuffed and the tires have plenty of life ..not cheap ..also check discs and pads look healthy..and just generally check the body work make sure no rust …f series arnt to bad for this ..and check it’s not had any poor paint jobs ..take it for a drive make sure it drives straight pulls well and stops well ..oh and make sure they haven’t warmed it up before you come you want to hear that cold start no rattles or knock 👍
@@BMWFAMuk Wow that's a lot of info! i'll be sure to check everything mentioned. This is really giving me peace of mind so thank you :) Looking forward to joining the 330d club (hopefully) very soon 😎
@@lbzpsnps3 sorry for the long winded reply these are great cars not perfect we love them …that’s just the general stuff I’d look for ..good look you will defo love the f series 👍👍
Nice one. I've also heard that regular services / oil changes seems to be the key in keeping any issues at bay.
Good look in your search buddy 👍
The 3l ones are also affected, but due to the smoothness of inline 6 the chains has a longer lifetime. Around here the recommended mileage to change chains (and everything related) is around 200k KMs for the 2l ones and 250k KMs for the 3l ones.
Hi mate sounds about right that sad some of the 2L don’t make it anywhere near 200k☹️
That knocking noise at the back of the car is possible tail light loose , try to shake it and let me know please. It is fokin honest review pal, I'll go and get 640D with 20" instead😅 Tha😂
😂😂😂😂 I will mate I think it’s something underneath or the hand break but I will give it a Wack when I pick it up 😎👍
Bimmer code can turn off start stop with obd off eBay 👌
I know buddy Tom who’s on the channel has purchased it so will get round to it one day😂
So every single thing you mentioned is drivers fault not the car he actually chose 😂
There the bad points after a year In my opinion it was a compromise between price and mileage if I was going for another bmw I would spec it differently now …my opinion
The paint apparently easy to chip white tends to be crap colour, the wheels are tacky looking
Thanks for your feedback
@@BMWFAMuk Apparently some people don't have a clue about paint 😜
Shush megamind
I always like the look. White on blacks. I find German paint are a hard paint compared to the likes of Tesla and Japanese cars there for it’s harder to chip.
Lighter colour cars the likes of your white and silver hides defects on the paint really well compared to darker colours. Black cars you can spot defects a mile away eg scratches, swirls, etchings etc
I turned mine off
I’ve done it on the new motor 😂
2 minute job to disable auto start stop with bimmercode
Hi mate we have bimmercode it’s on the to do list haha so much to do to these motors the list is growing 😂
