What I absolutely can not understand is the fact that the blueprints for the Visorak were actually made by the Great Beings, and then programmed into the Makuta's consciousness. Haven't they learned anything from the Baterra?
Seeing as there were less than 50 Baterra but thousands of deadly and mind altering Visorak and Bohrok I'd say that's a NO. The Bohrok were based on the Baterra and described as bug-like and there was early concept art of the Bahrag queens as spiders (and the official combiner spider) so maybe one of the 30 Great Beings was really into bugs and spiders and had a hand in those creations. Don't forget the Great Beings also gave the Makuta the capability to create Rahkshi, which are just two worms/larvae with one transforming into outer armer within a pillar (cocoon) after getting exposed to Protodermis. The Makuta also know how to create Matoran and have no known Failsafe like Toa do with Marendar. My guess is that the Great Beings in their self-delusions of grandeur made the Makuta their personal over powered sapient stand-ins.
I would argue that there are some things we're aware of in public than we did that were arguably worse than whatbthe Great Beings did. Ex. using human stem cells to create organoids which are capable of spontaneously generating external sensory cells (eyes) and trying to use them to create biocomputers, except they don't do well without their own blood supply so they're being grafted onto the brains of rats in order to tap into their circulatory system, and then finding some evidence that the organoids are capable of exercising some level of control over the rats' functions. At least the Great Beings tried to come up with solutions, think ahead and create contigencies; they just couldn't prepare for everything given The Shattering was incoming and they had many internal disagreements as we saw through Velika's actions and how he gave all the residents sapience. They were very human in a way and thus I don't see them as idiots as most of the community does. I got this perspective from a very insightful friend who has a degree in a form of engineering applicable to the Great Beings.
Something i want to mention is that the visorak are clearly sentient like they understand the concept of slavery and fear and have there own language yet no one in the story acknowledged this nor did any of the writers did
Indeed they did have their own language. The writers must have acknowledged it somewhere though, surely? Perhaps somewhere in the 'Bionicle: Adventures' series during the 2005 arc?
I feel like the Kingdom story acknowledges this very slightly, noting that after the death of Mata Nui, all sentient species(beside the Makuta) created the Kingdom on the island of Mata Nui, listing off the Matoran, Skakdi, Vortix, and Visorak
I made a shadow Visorak this week and fell in love again with these creatures, this video is like a cherry on top ^^ Looking forward to the video with the 7th breed of them
