Camping And Fishing For Native Adirondack Brook Trout!

- Опубліковано 31 тра 2021
- My girlfriend and I haul our canoe and gear into the woods to hit a lake known for big native Adirondack Brook Trout. We had to trek through the rain and endure some cold weather and biting insects, but it was well worth it. We found an awesome spot to set up our tent and spend 3 nights. By the time we went home we had probably caught 16 really nice sized Brookies and kept 3 to eat. If you want to see more videos like this make sure to like and subscribe to my channel!
Kielbasa and perogies, must be from the mohawk valley!
Thanks for video (just popped up)
I just realized I hadn’t watched a whole bunch of your videos! Well, here I goooooooo 😆
Wonderful video! Thanks for sharing it!
Thanks for watching!
6:33 love those spots and perfect fins. Good fishin! Gotta get out in the rain for that action.
nice brook trout, loved catching them in western maryland they were natives,
Nice fish, so pretty!
that is the biggest brook trout I've ever seen. Almost looks like a laker
Oh! I know where you are! Just as soon as I saw that campsite. Took my son and nephew back there about 20 years ago, we pulled in a 17 foot Coleman canoe on portage wheels. Well, I pulled it in🤣🤣 That’s quite the walk in too!
That’s also a great place for snowshoeing or cross country skiing.
Looks like Stephanie was the Grand Champion Angler on this camping trip, WAY TO GO Steph!
This place really is a bit of a hidden gem! So many hikers and not many other anglers made for some great fishing. The campsite here in the video is my favorite as well. There are a couple larger ones, but this one feels a bit off the path and secluded. Thanks so much for taking the time to check out our trips!
@@DaxWoodsWanderer what water is this I must know ?
Awesome videos man watched them all in the shop !! Hope to have more time this year to get out !!
Keep it rolling !!
Have a great holiday season
Thank you so much, I am glad you enjoyed them! Maybe we will cross paths out there sometime. Have a great holiday as well.
@@DaxWoodsWanderer yeah keep me posted this spring
I do the week trips as well at least once a month .. lol
A Break from civilization to go fishing and enjoy nature is the cure !
Much respect to you for not revealing your fishing spots. Even though I’d like to know. Tight lines bro 🎣
very nice,,
Everyone wants to know where. I want to know what lure (or bait?) you were using. Beautiful, huge brookies!
We use a flasher called a Lake Clear Wabbler tied about 8 inches above a baitholder hook with a worm on it. Thanks for watching!
You guys might wanna check the log books around some lean-to's you'll see some very colorful entries. #AdirondackBuschPeople Nice brookies pard!
I always love reading the lean-to logs, like you said its always some interesting stuff. Sometimes even some useful fishing info! Thanks for watching!
Fact maybe we could meet up and go for adventures. I'd say I'm above average fisherman and would like to be part of this action lol.
Never seen such large brookies in the ADKs!
We said the same thing! Out of about 16 fish we only caught 2 "normal" sized Brookies. I guess this place just had all the right conditions to let them grow.

@@DaxWoodsWanderer name/location please ? Really want to fly fish this
@@connorberry1432 I cannot give you the exact location, but I can give you some advice. The DEC has a tool called the Info Locator, using that and their Wilderness Area pages you can easily find some good lakes and ponds that will produce just like this one. They usually require a short hike, but are always worth it. If you need more help contact me directly on Instagram and I will try to point you in the right direction.
@@DaxWoodsWanderer Great video, I was looking at the DEC pages you recommended and am having some trouble locating these good lakes and ponds. This lake is beautiful!! Exactly the type of place I want to take my young boys. Any other recommendations on how to locate this specific lake or others?
I'd love to go camping at that spot. Looks great. You said old forge so I'm wondering if this is actually part of the moose river plains? Those brook trout are huge and should be protected so I respect not saying where this is but any hints would be great. Ever tried round pond off the moose river road?
I have fished Round Pond before, but we did not have any luck. It was very early in the Spring through and I do not believe any stocking had been done yet. If you want to get out there together just get ahold of me on Instagram or FB and we can try to set up a trip! Thanks for checking out my video!
@@DaxWoodsWanderer agreed it's a beautiful spot with a nice camping area but the last time I caught any fish there was 6 yrs agao. I think it was overfished and therefore since not being stocked it slowly was depleted. However it feels like Jurassic park back there. If you drop a kayak in and travel through that pond to the connecting pond I beleive called mud pond you may have better luck. I was able to get back there but unfortunately only brought top water gear. This pond from what I could see is very deep si I may have done better using a spinner or a slip bobber and worm.
Enjoy your videos.
I live just off moose river rd near round pond!
Small world!
How do you like the Sports Pal Canoe ?
Oh its great! Maybe not the fastest, but it gets the job done!
how far from Old forge is this lake?
Looks beautiful, what lake?
Unfortunately, I cannot give you the location of this specific spot, but there are plenty like it all over the Adirondacks. If you use the DEC Info Locator and other resources available you can find somewhere exactly like this. If you have any questions or need any help shoot me a message on Instagram and I will gladly help you out! Thanks for watching!
Why can't you give the location? It's a public place... I've been there many times myself.. I'm confused..
what lake@@tayloralexis1504
Respectfully I wanna ask where u at, but respectfully as a trout hunter I’m obv bout to start looking rn
Your best bet for finding places is definitely the DEC Info Locator and their Forest Preserve Unit Descriptions. That is how I found this spot!
@@DaxWoodsWanderer I def rock w the dec listings but this year was so dry that a lot of cricks dried up. I like to head to the ausable more than any place. I’ve only been fishing for about a year tho. Def saw some 20” bows and some monster browns but I just like the hunt and kill (... to hopefully feed my gf a nice dinner). Love this vid tho! 🤌🏽
what lake is that?
Well, like you name implies, it is actually top secret. This place has a lot of factors already working against it and I would just hate to put the name out there and put any more pressure on these already pressured Trout. I really appreciate you watching, and if you need any help finding a place like this of your own please reach out to me here or on Instagram or Facebook and I can talk you through how scout and plan out trips like this.
You can not keep a snagged fish!!!!
Shame on you
I am well aware of the laws around snagging fish, can you please point out where in the video that happened?
Gut hooked doesn't mean snagged, only trout hammered bait so hard it swallowed it too deep to safely remove hook. Perfectly legal and delicious meal. Nicely done.
You definitely shouldn't throw a fish back that is going to die. snagged or not
If you snag a fish it will die.
Huh? Snagged foul hooked trout dont die if you know how to release. Great video, the days we're always looking hoping for. 🍺
