As a college communications instructor, I thought this video was excellent. I appreciated the distinction you made about logos: what do I want people to know in order to accomplish ___.? We often forget about our END goal. Love it!!! This video was gold!! 👏🏼

This sounds more like it’s geared towards selling something. If I’m trying to articulate my own thoughts, why would I care how the audience feels? When I start worrying about that, then they’re no longer my thoughts as I’m curating my words based on what I think you’ll want to hear.

    • @rtc3363
      @rtc3363 Рік тому +1

@@bobbyv3 you’re right, communicating an idea is akin to “selling” it to someone else in order for them to understand what you’re talking about. How to say it is equally if not more important than what to say.

    1. What do I want people to do? (Once they've heard our idea)
    2. What do I want people to know about me? (ethos-ethical appeal)
    3. What do I want people to know about the topic?(Logos - logical appeal)
    4. What do I want people to feel?(Pathos- emotional appeal)

Thought to just state the 4 questions here:
Ethos (trust) - what do I what people to do (end goal), what do I want people to know about me
Logos (logic) - what do i want people to know about the topic
Pathos (emotion) - what do I want people to feel
This is definitely something I’ve been struggling with for years and I always thought there’s something wrong with me 😅 from your video, I know learn that it’s about applying the right tool (framework) and to work on it until it’s like my second nature!
I’m new (immediately subscribed!) to your channel and I really hope to see improvement in structuring my thoughts and speech. Can’t wait for that to happen. Thanks so much Vicky for doing this for the benefit of all of us

Ever since I was graduating from my BA I've become more insecure about my speaking abilities, and even feel like I've become more stupid, and have lost a lot of my vocabulary. Now I'm about to graduate with an MA and my insecurity is at an all time high. This, while dreaming of starting my own podcast.... The irony.... I love thinking, talking, and listening to people talk about ideas. The only place in which I feel confident is in my own journal/diary, but I'm so eager to get out of that comfort zone!
This video helped to soothe my anxieties quite a lot, thank you!

Definitely need to write my ideas down and also say them out loud... which sometimes annoys my boyfriend lol so writing is probably better. I also love this video of Steve Jobs and definitely took away some new points from your video.

hahahha I've had my fair share of "Stop talking to yourself" when I'm planning my client sessions and sometimes UA-cam videos! Writing is the more peaceful option 😂

I love this video! If our thoughts arent clear, it would be difficult to speak about it. I find writing things to make them clearer.

    For your Benefit: My notes
    0) Write it down. Freeup mental bandwidth. U need a structure.
    1) What do we want ppl to do, once they hear our idea?
(Know how it impacts others, & what u want others to do?)
    2) What do I want my audience to know about me?
(The goal I want ppl to do is an action, What can they k abt me, in order to be more open & receptive to this idea?)
(Eg. Ppl are interested in the "revolutionary", not we spent 50yrs in th...)
    3) What do I WANT ppl to know? (logos)
(Not what do I know, & regurgitate everyth u know, & it's a dribble of info that doesn't connect tgt)
    4) What do I WANT ppl to feel? (pathos)
(They might uds the facts & figures, but dk how to feel abt it, bcos they haven't made the connection between these facts, & what does that mean to me. Does this help me survive & thrive?)
(Listing a few things that demonstrates the point, connecting it to the emotional aspect of how easy it is, how special it is, etc)

1: hone everything down to 1minute to fit onto youtubeshorts
2: come up with 3 simple rules - this is the content of the video
3: title/subjectmatter - at the end of the video, the enduser/viewer is satisfied that the product delivers as promised/advertised.
