I served under COL Goins from 2005-2009 and deployed to Iraq with him for 15 months. I have never had a commander who cared more about his Soldiers and I've never seen anyone hurt so much as he did when we lost our comrades. I can still picture in my mind COL Goins in tears as we loaded the bodies of fallen Soldiers onto helicopters to send them on their final ride home and so filled with grief that he couldn't even speak to address his battalion. I will always have the utmost respect and admiration for that man.
He was my XO in Korea in 1988/89. 1Lt Goins way back then.

I love how the father embraces his son homecoming. he holds his hands like he is a baby. I love it.
yes so true..wish all fathers were like this to their sons and children
Right!!
I love how the father instantly knew right when the lady said we have a surprise for you
Master Eman yep, fake as it comes. Like all really TV BS
+BEER MONSTER doesn't change the fact that they are all serving our country.
Well if you look at his eyes you can see he notices his son start to walk in.
@@wickedeststeve you must be fun at parties
If you watch, even before she says that, he looks over her shoulder and his jaw drops: his son must have just walked in.
That's a good looking American military family. ..

May they stay safe.

God Bless people like this
Beautiful reaction from the Colonel. Real men aren't afraid to show love.
damn right! agreed 1000%
As an adult, his parents are still holding his hands.
A good marriage is made up of the little stuff.
I tell you what. This family brought a tear to my eye.
Katrinka San Francisco Bay Area that’s weird
Dang he is pretty high ranking too. Happy to see this
They are appreciated because they are saving in American army. But their black hasn't changed. My question is who is America defending? Oil, gas, gold or what?
@@lovalarolland6316 what did you even say lol speak English
@@lovalarolland6316 The rich and powerful global 1% that owns and control the Oil, Gas Gold and people.
There's a lot of black men and women in high ranks, it's just never said through the news!
Lovala Rolland military members serve...only to serve. We go where told; do what told; do so to legal/moral standards. We serve when politicians fail their mission. Regardless personal/political opinions. You are welcome...even if you don’t wish it.
Colonel Goins has a poise and demeanor about him that is very manly. He seems like he knows what matters in life. I could easily believe he has seen a lot, stands up strong in battle, yet remains compassionate; probably particular for his fallen comrades. I do not know why I think that just by observing him and his body language, but he displays certain qualities that I would like to have. He displays qualities I wish all men had.
I agree! My husband served under him during the deployment that he just came home from in this video. Colonel Goins teared up during on of the deployment ceremonies. He truly cares for his soldiers, those he has lost, and their families.
Marianke Phillips I can attest to that. I served under him when he was with 1-12 CAV at fort hood. Best officer I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
That's the sweetest thing to hear someone say about our military, haven't heard anything like it in a long time. God bless
mallarysangel All who serve deserve merit and recognition for their service, and no offense is intended towards anyone...having said that... The Colonel, is an airborne infantry soldier...not a personnel clerk. Colonel, Sergeant, Captain, Corporal...doesn't matter...an Airborne Infantry Soldier, by the very nature of what they do and how they do it...jump out of an airplane into the heat of battle...will exhibit a certain demeanor that's characterized by another "colonel" (aka Jack Nicholson/A Few Good Men)...We use words like "honor", "code", "loyalty". We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. That's what you will usually see in an Airborne Infantry Soldier. GOD BLESS! ......Army Vet ('Nam)
Yeah your totally right something about him in that short clip says his moral compass is bang on target not to mention he's a beast physically the size of his damn hands Wow.
Wow, what a wonderfully well spoken woman. She is articulate, thoughtful, intelligent, and I think this might be a reality show I might consider watching. What a beautiful woman.
Joe Joseph Are you surprised?
@@fellaent I'll give it to you, it did sound a bit condescending. It also sounded( as I read it out loud) as if the fact that she's a black woman influenced his opinion of her. But why does it surprise you that there are those that think that way?🤔🤔🤔🤔. Looking for a fight? I'm glad he was smart enough not to give you one. It couldn't be me. 😉😉😉😊😊😊😒😒😒

This used to be our former Brigade Commander. Amazing couple! I had the honor of meeting her. And I admire the love he has for all the soldiers and their families that serve under him! He truly cared!
I love how his dad just wants to look him up and down. That's a proud fricken pappa.
This Lady should run for *public office* --- she would win _hands down_
West Point. Well done mom and dad. From a Navy Spouse.. 26 years..
beautiful family, God bless you
I hate when people say god bless you why not god bless all the ones going through the same thing :)
+Mega Savior because the conversation is specific to the person troll.
whenever i meet a soldier or meet a veteran i immediately shake his hand and thank them
Honestly who in the hell do u think u are? If you were in the us military and we sent u overseas you would shit your pants and cry to your mommy for your little safe space.
sigmiami , that's a pretty full on statement , why do you say that with such malice ?
Never had a father who cared for me like this but I know I love my son more than life itself, great video....
I‘m so sorry, to hear that. I wish you and your family only the best in life. Cheers and greetings from Germany, my friend.
Cameron has his mom's smile & his dad's quiet nature.^^
Big strong military man with 4 tours of duty and still sheds a tear when he see's his son . They are truly human AND hero's .
Oh dammit...I'm just bawling. Thank you to the father for your service and thank you to the son for his dedication to our nation. My biggest admiration is for the wife and mom for her sacrifices. My mom was a military mother. When my dad was in Vietnam she as home with FOUR TEENAGERS. Dad and mom did thirty years in the military. Yes they BOTH SERVED, her at home and dad where his orders took him. So proud of them both.
Good looking dad!! The love he has for his son is undeniable
Behind every strong man, is an even stronger woman. Semper Fi.
one two because they go to bed at night not knowing if their husbands or children is ever going to see them again, they are the people who sacrifice as much as the men and woman who serve do. It's an absolute disgrace that you called them such horrific things. They leave their families to give the freedom to the other families of the people of their country. You have never been in their situation so who are you to judge them, have you ever put on that uniform and got shot at day in and day out, have you ever went to bed not knowing if your husband/wife is going to return. No, so don't judge them.
that's the kind of show that needs to be on tv.
The way loving way his father address his son it’s so precious. This is just a beautiful family🥰
The way his Dad was consoling his son's hand explains it all
The reaction on the father's face is priceless.
Absolutely! His face lit up when the reporter first mentioned his son at 2:22. You can tell they really love each other.
Thank you for your service Colonel. God bless you, your son, and family!
Thank you is not enough. Thank you for your service.
Your name comrade, I am confused blyatt!! Jokes aside, wish you well.
There used to be a saying in the UK military, the husband signs on and the wife does the time. Likewise, another was the husband earns the rank and the wife wears it. During my service I found both to be true.
+Justin Case
Don't forget the rampant cheating and adultery/infidelity that goes on by military wives when their husbands are deployed, sickening.
+Exterm inatus
I find that it often goes both ways as well.
SvenSinsSista Agreed
So true,
Justin, well stated!!!
The moment a military father reunites with his military son or daughter, I can imagine everything just halts in the father's mind, and I imagine the feeling is a mixture of overwhelming love and pride among other things. An explosion of power, of strength, of family.
Omg I know that man. Wow. Thank You to EVERY soldier and fallen soldier around the world for your service.
Ali Abbas umm ok? o.O
What a strong and beautiful family. Thanks to all the men and women in uniform and their families for their sacrifices.
To the Goins Family, Thank you for your service from the bottom of my heart!
These are proud parents...I have watched this countless times for something to feel good about, and I cry (good tears!) every time...
That's three PATRIOTS, right there.

The woman who is going to win that young mans heart, is one lucky bird... 🥰. The beautiful bond he clearly has with his parents, makes him the ideal man. Such a beautiful and loving family. I love that he is holding his dads hand, that is a real man!!!

I am so proud of this family!!!
Gorgeous, lovely family.
I LOVE how the parents held his hands through out the interviewe. ❤❤
What a great family, and what a great person the wife is for starting that support group for fellow military wives.
This was my life for almost 18 years... until my husband made the ultimate sacrifice!! I serve at the VA to this day, and it's an honor and a privilege to be in that role!!
You can just tell how proud the Col. is, as well as the mother. Awesome.
Im service as a coast guard in my country & im proud of it.
Man coast guard pog
I dream that words similar to those will be said by my son,
I want him to be happy no matter what he does,
but to be so proud to follow in my foot steps, and call me his idol...
How much better of a father can you be than that?
That man has done right, and it's not easy.
definitely he raised him right. This generation needs more people like this family to be respectful and set positive goals in life
My eyes! How did the rain get into them! Love how the dad reacted, that was priceless! Our military soldiers and their families do and sacrifice so much, its good them being recognized for everything they do.
Motivational Stuff! I served in the Marine Corps and Love these Stories. Our Military is Strong. Semper Fi!
such a great inspirational family..they raised their son right as well you can tell he is very well mannered and to want to be like his dad is so sweet
This is what American Pride and Sacrifice is-----The ultimate vision of Truth and Honor---many thank you's and lots of praise to this great American Family....
I'd charge the gates of hell with Major Goins. NO FEAR!
When the son said he wanted to be just like his father the look on his father's face is hilarious and priceless.
The amount of pride those two parents have for their son just pushes through the camera I'm very happy for them.
there son is very handsome !
Yes! He most certainly is. And he's goal oriented.
God damn it, how do the onions keep getting me!
2:44 , that single moment shows how much he actually loves his son.
THANK YOU to everyone who is/has serve our country!
When he said "I wanna follow in my Fathers footsteps" the dads look was hilarious. I love these videos! :) Thank you to those who serve or served ❤
Beautiful military family. I love this surprise. Thank you for your service. 📖🌹😇💒💝🤩😍
that reaction by the father was absolutely priceless
The way the father looks at his son at 3:47. You know how proud he is of his junior. Beautiful family.
a father not afraid to hold his grown sons hand. Awesome family.
thank you so much for your service !!!
Whichever country you are from,we all should respect every country's Armed forces
BEAUTIFUL MOMENTS !!! Thanks for all that your family does for our country ! God Bless ! Joyce from Huntsville ,AL.
Oh my God, you're an angel! trust, and go with your heart! With love from a fellow Australian!
Why would anyone dislike this???
that son is one fine brother
Thank all three of you for serving our country! I would be proud to serve with either of these men!
Awesome stuff. Thank you Goins family for your generations of service to our country.
Heartwarming ❤️

jeez if this guy completes his service and goes into politics the campaign video if he ever runs for president is pretty much tailor made already
Pat Tanackered are people as legendary as him allowed to run for office, because there wouldn’t even be a race. He would be at the finish line way before any of his opponents started their campaign.
@@crypticchameleon4339 I wish that was true, but climate in our country today, brings me pause for any real hope for America anymore.
I have lost count of how many times that I have watched this but the tears " of joy " still flow for this family.

Omg I love these videos, I need a tissue

I applaud them all for what the do. Thank you so much.
Thank you for your service! We love you guys! God Bless
There is no higher honor, no better job then serving our country! Though I am disabled I was not about to let 150 years of service stop with me and I'll not be the last one in our family to serve, despite my disability I serve with Civil Air Patrol the all volunteer force of our U.S. Air Force where I work in personnel and communications, it is a dream job and one I'm 110% committed to! When duty calls I answer regardless of the personal cost!
Jake,
good for you. I like your positive attitude, perhaps, that will rub off in case you meet soldiers depressed regarding a disability who have lost some hope. I hope I said that right. Anyway, God bless you baby....

@@gidgethrobowski3860 Gidget, just an FYI I stopped utilizing my nickname of Jake and now use my given name of James. Since I typed that comment I now have 2 cousins serving, one is active duty Air Force currently stationed in Texas and the other is active duty Army and deployed overseas. I thank you for your appreciation, however, the real heroes are the ones who go overseas, I'm very modest and humble about my role to help our country!

HOOAH!
Wow- this was 8 years ago! I pray that their all well- God bless you all and thank you for your service!! 🤗💜🌹
Thank you for sharing and for the service of your family
I respect Army wives and all spouses of military personnel, but for them to compare the hardship they endure to military personnel deployed in a war zone is delusional. They're not the ones sleeping in dirt, getting shot at, and wondering if the next step they take will be onto an IED. Again it takes strength to be there for the kids and support their spouse, but all the moto stuff like the Marine wives "I have the toughest job in the corps" is ridiculous. Anyways, nice family moment, hope all our military personnel stay safe.
I agree with you, it irks me to no end when they say stuff like that.
We can argue and debate all this---but when it comes down to it---all involve sacrifice---some do a whole lot more than others---but everyone should be as one and help each other and respect one another----period...
Is that seriously one of their mottos? If it is that's ridiculous.
You talking to me ??
I Gullett no, I was talking about the motto that they supposedly use
They should do Army Husbands too. I feel like that would be more interesting.
1LT Goins was my XO in Korea a long long time ago. Glad to see he has been very successful and his family looks very happy. He was probably like 24 or 25 then. LOL.
God bless your family. Thank you for your service. My late father was stationed at Ft Richardson, Alaska. I still live here about 10 minutes away. the families go thru a lot when their soldiers are deployed. I come from a long line of military family members who have and are serving our great country.
