- We need to talk about Lost Records: Bloom and Rage - Life is Strange news. Developer DONTNOD, who just announced Lost Records: Bloom and Rage, have just announced that their new game is delayed. I'm here to give my thoughts on this, as well as exploring whether Max and Chloe's new game has had an impact on Lost Records.

I dont want to get my tinfoil hat on but why do i get the feeling that square enix intentionally decided to put the life is strange release date near the same time as lost records as a way to compete with lost records knowing that life is strange is obviously a more popular name.
I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case, maybe as their form of retaliation against Dontnod for breaking away. However it could very well be a coincidence, especially if the development cycle was coming to an end.
Tbh that was my gut feeling. Obviously we can’t know, but Square Enix has done plenty of greedy things as a company.
Either they decided to release it close to Lost Records to try and be petty, or this date was decided a while ago. Who knows
To be fair, it really is just a common time to release games.
Personally I think Dontnod themselves where waiting for a LIS release date first before going more specific The given release date was 2024 not a specific date.
im honestly more hyped for lost records. double exposure seems cool dont get me wrong, I just wanna see a brand new thing, new people, new plot lines, new world
yeah I’m kind of over Max and Chloe (not in a bad way, I think i just see their story as done) thats why I always liked the idea of LIS being an anthology series, and I liked how LIS2 was very different.
Honestly i kinda figured something would happen when Double Exposure got revealed for October 29th. I’m completely okay with waiting a little bit longer for Bloom & Rage, gives both games time to breathe, which is especially good for Bloom & Rage
i think they’re right in saying the wait will be worth it!
I personally don't mind game delays for any reason, however much it may suck. I truly hope that Lost Records gets the attention it deserves whether that's positive or negative. Dontnod has proven that they're capable of producing high quality games and I sincerely hope they've hit the nail on the head with this title, allowing them the ability to produce more one of games in an industry inundated with too many series
I wouldn't put it past Square Enix and Deck Nine to end up having to delay Double Exposure, thus making the delay of Lost Records pointless.
Square Enid maybe but Deck Nine and Dontnod are very friendly with each other, the community just made up beef between them

I was pretty relieved when I read about the delay, because even if all fans bought both, the discussion around Double Exposure would likely overshadow the discussion around Lost Records. And fans likely _wouldn’t_ buy both, at least not at once, because having competition that releases so close to each other also means that most fans simply won’t have the money to purchase both of them. So I think it was a very wise decision to delay the game until early 2025!
I am excited for both games, but more for Lost Records - mainly because I liked Don’t Nod’s LIS games more than Deck Nine’s, both still enjoyed all of them :)
I think Lost Records will probably be good. I’ve been cautiously optimistic for it as I am with most things. I’ve been playing since LIS 1 and I think that BTS and True Colors are pretty bad honestly. BTS is okay, but I truly thing True Colors is one of the worst games I’ve ever played (obviously in my own opinion as I see many people enjoying it). I think that Life is Strange 2 ended up being better than the first in nearly every way though.
With that being said, I expect Double Exposure to be just as bad as True Colors, but I’d reckon it’s worse probably since they’re going to be using Max again.

Honestly considering the last choice based game Dontnod made was Twin Mirror and it made True Colors (which I thought was mid but I didn't hate it) seems like a masterpiece in comparison I'm genuinely worried

Honestly, I'm glad they made this decision, since I don't think delaying the game will hurt the games success, and releasing it so closely to the new Life is Strange games would be really risky. Not only that, seeing how most probably this new Life is Strange game will disappoint fans (I mean, if LiS 2 left them disappointed as a "sequel", I don't know if Deck Nine will do better than DontNod, because people want Max AND Chloe, and Double Exposure is not giving that), it is possible that if Lost Records comes after will get a better reception within the fanbase, because they are getting what they really wanted.
I'm really excited for Lost Records, since I have loved LiS 2 and didn't enjoy how it was so underrated, that made Dontnod not releasing anymore games like this for a while, and if Lost Records is the beginning of a new era, where we can get more games like LiS and LiS 2, then I am really excited!
agreed, LIS2 is literally my favorite game of all time and i was sad how Michel Koch stopped directing new games for a while but i feel very optimistic about this, all I’ve wanted was a game like LIS1 and LIS2
If there’s one thing I learned about delays. Is that it doesn’t really matter how much or many times a movie or game gets delayed. It could still suck in the Final Cut. Cough cough Skull and Bones
I recently stumbled upon one of the first trailers for the original Life is strange. It's been 7 years, and even tough I still vividly remember everything, that trailer gave me a hefy dosis of nostalgia and the need to play LiS again.
The I went to the trailer for Double Exposure, and I felt.... nothing.
Sure, I was like "yay Max!" but the difference in emotion I got from watching both trailers was enormous.
And then I stumbled on this video, and honestly, just from watching your video I would put Lost Records in the middle between the two just based on vibes alone.
I don't think I'm gonna play Double Exposure....
I think they are making the right decision. And not making a secret of the reasons is also a very good move. I'm looking forward to both games, and I guess it doesn't hurt a little longer. Mayve it also gives Dontnod a little more time and space to make this game the success it hopefully deserves!

Same here, Life is Strange is great but that doesn't mean we can't have another games in the genre, this just leaves a bitter taste towards LIS ip since I was hyped for lost records, but if what they did wasn't intentional to sabotage another game of this genre then its all good, but you never know with these giant companies doing anything they can to secure more money. Just sucks for players that games take competing with each other this far, just let players decide what game they like, truth is most likely both will be just as enjoyable, we been getting scraps in this genre and delays especially for these kind of reasons suck.
I think it's probably the right choice, but it's still a bummer as someone who is very excited for Lost Records and against Double Exposure's very existence. 😭
I do think it was a good decision because a big game coming from a big coming will inevitably overtake the marketing and world of mouth Bloom and Rage would have. And if Double Exposure turns out to be a flop and Bloom and Rage ain’t Don’t Nods game will stand out in the players minds.
Overall, I am excited for both games but more for Bloom and Rage. After seeing some gameplay for Double Exposure I am a bit worried and want to keep my expectations realistic.
I think it was the smart move for Lost Records to be pushed back, I'm definitely more excited about that game than whatever DeckNIne has got going on
i mostly consider DeckNines games to be fan fiction anyways since they weren’t made by Michel Koch. LIS1 and LIS2 are the only ones I really care about, i still played Before the Storm and True Colors and i thought they were good but I didn’t really take them seriously

I think this is a genius move from Don't Nod, I 100% fully support this.
honestly it was a pretty smart choice, because if lis:de SUCKS and leaves fans wanting for more, it'll build more hype towards this game, and if it's good and it attracts a bunch of people who maybe are new to this genre of videogame, LR can be what they check out after finishing the game
Considering the two truly great LiS titles have been made by DONTNOD, being LiS 1 and 2 (honorary mentions for Tell Me Why and Vampyr), I am way more hyped for whatever they are cooking. They are clearly far more invested in pushing the genre forward whilst retaining the vibe. True Colors was good (I loved Ryan and Steph, and the ending is really beautiful) and Before The Storm was a lovely reason to revisit Arcadia Bay (phenomenal soundtrack, loved episode 1 and the second half of episode 2 from the play right on to the finish was amazing, but the plot gets incredibly tangential in episode 3), but neither of those games have the truly HOLY SHIT moments and unforgettable central dynamic and characters of Lis 1 and 2.
i feel like lost records needs more attention/marketing anyway, competing with lis or not. The new lis might even have a positive impact on the interest in lost records. I for one have only heard about lost records because of the new lis and people comparing the two.
With this news I still have a bad feeling for the wolf among us 2 from telltale as well

I never wanted more Max from Life is Strange they continue to waste the opportunity of giving us a game about the life Step had on tour with her ex Izzy. Id much rather have Lost Records. Just knowing i wont be getting their song See you in Hell has already hurt my heart.
I noticed about new LIS game 3 weeks after announcement, even though I was a huge fan up until true colors game... just from the trailer you know it's off with LIS, the expositional dialogue, on the nose narrative, change of powers, fanservice with nostalgia... yeah no thanks, I know already they gonna ruin it.
Every developer delays games for whatever reason. This is nothing new!

Omg, don't nod is the developer of LIS again? Maybe I'm unlike most people, but I loved Vampyr too. I will wait no matter what.
