Okay, so this is my premature Captain Spirit, Life is Strange 2 Theory. I'm sure there is a lot that will be wrong here as I'm making a ton of assumptions, but for now, based on what we know, I thought it'd be fun to speculate a possibility about the new coming series based on what we know so far.
Sorry guys, I know this isn't my usual type of content. Trying something new here.
I hope all of you are already familiar with Life is Strange. Otherwise, you might be ruining a very fun ride.
Captian Spirit is a standalone episode set in the Life is Strange Universe and is coming out this June 24th for free. I hope you're looking forward to it as much as I am!

@@haydengarcia1064 Of course the ending to the first game is determinant and what you see as a cameo in Life is Strange 2. I even have many off the record theories on Max and Chloe's relationships with Life is Strange 2 characters (with Sean and Daniel, I think Max would be quicker than Chloe to believe that they're innocent, but someone like David Madsen would speak ill of them at first and believe the false information given on them until being fully convinced otherwised)

Am I wrong, when you go to the bookcase in captain spirit game and you start seeing his mom's books one of the books is from Mr. Jefferson and apparently his mom has something to do with him?
Mr. Jefersson was a very famous photographer around the time Chris's mom was learning art at the University, So most likely just a coincidence, But still a very cool detail on DONTOD's side.
I like that the Butts 'N Boobs magazine you find in Nathan Prescotts room when looking for his phone is the same issue of Butts 'N Boobs magzine you find in Chris's fathers closet. Especially since it's 3 years after LIS1. So his dad must have really liked that magazine.
He was super famous, you can find a lot of Mr. Jefferson's books in Lis1 too
It's possible Jefferson was teaching there with his mom and dad as students ? He was older than both his parents as he was 38 in LIS in 2013 and the parents studied at Blackwell in their teens till 2006
In addition, Chris and Chloe have a lot in common. Chloe was rescued by Max and Chris by the neighbor boy. Both are on pirates - Chloe's T-shirt with the cat as a pirate and Chris his teddy bear. Both Chris and Chloe like to draw. Chloe draw himself and Max as superheroes.
Both were teased at school by a better-off student.

On a different note, DONTOD said multiple times that The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is going to be a setup for Life is Strange 2, They also said that the story of Chloe and Max is over and that Life is Strange 2 will have nothing to do with either them or Arcadia Bay, Which leads me to a pretty obvious conclusion that whatever Life is Strange 2 is going to be, You're gonna most likely be playing as Captain Spirit again, Likely as an adult.
Well technically max and chloes story is still going because theyre releasing a comic based on the save chloe option
I'm not sure how the original LiS is going to be linked to this beyond being in the same area but I like the theory that you will play one of the neighbours kids and that Chris doesn't have powers it was actually one of the neighbours that saved him - reasoning being that they said we will see Chis in LiS2 likely at that point and maybe other times too and also they saw him "save himself" but didn't act surprised or anything as if maybe it was them that did the saving ;)
I'm glad it'll be the older boy (if it is), while I enjoyed Captain Spirit as a character building game if the whole game was as a younger protagonist I felt like something would have been lost because the full impact of whats going on wouldn't fully be realised by the character, while as a player you would get it, personally, I feel it wouldn't transfer as well because of the disconnect between the characters understanding of the more mature themes and the players understanding.
LordMuttonChops - Roi That’s the thing they lied because Michel said in an E3 press conference that some of ur choices from the first game will impact the life is strange 2. It may be small choices and things in the game such as documents in papers.

I just expected more from before the storm and ended up being disappointed. They should’ve explained more how Rachel and Frank got together how their relationship evolved and how Mr. Jefferson lured Rachel, I honestly wanted to like Rachel, but somehow she just made a fool out of Chloe for being with Frank
Thats what happens when a developer outsources to make money on a name sake. Dontnod had zero to do with before the storm...and the acting, writing and progression showed that they were not involved...it was a cash grab...and they are making 2 more. I hope dontnod helps them this time..if not i wont be buying it
I hated before the storm it was extremely pointless and Rachel’s character was so annoying I honestly wonder why Chloe like her but I did like the person who voiced Chloe. I hate how they couldn’t have even showed who was the one who actually killed Rachel

what if the car that hit chloe, hit chris's mom instead and killed her?
It would make sense... Instead of Chloes Dad dieing he was replaced with Chris' mom
So after playing the game I figure that maybe Chloe killed Chris' mom.
Theory goes like this:
Chloe hits a pedestrian with her car. ( Chris' mom)
She drives away in panic and crashes the car, putting her in the condition we see her in at Episode 3/4.
I think if this is correct maybe the car accident that paralyzed chloe killed his mother

Max's parents didn't die in a car crash, the sexuality players picked for Max isn't canon to her character (I didn't make her date or kiss anyone because there were more important things to worry about + Chloe is a toxic person (not hating)), Before the Storm wasn't developed by Dontnod so Chloe doesn't count, and why are you assuming Chris has anything to do with lgbtq? So going off of all that, I'd say Dontnod don't actually have that obsession

So the area in which Arcadia Bay is based around, is only about an hour and forty five minutes from actual beavercreek Oregon. The beaver creek shown looks eerily similar too that of the real Beavercreek. I only know this because I live about 12 minutes from the real Beavercreek. I am pretty sure 1 hour and 45 minutes still counts as relatively close too “Arcadia bay”. When something big happens a long the coast we barely hear about it. I mean there are huge earthquakes all the time and sure an entire town doesn’t get destroyed but it’s still not out of the realm of possibility that Arcadia Bay being fucked up wouldn’t have a much “devastating” impact on the people of Beavercreek.

The game director for Life is Strange Season 1 and LIfe is Strange 2 did say your ending choice in LIS Season 1 will impact LIS 2. He made it seem like it won't be a very strong link so prolly just a newspaper or TV news piece that talks about either about Chloe dying in Arcadia Bay and a teacher getting arrested if you choose that ending, or about Arcadia Bay being destroyed by a mysterious tornado if you saved Chloe
If you really want to know more. check out the read more as what I will be saying there is big news for Life is Strange 2 and if you want to go in fully blind, then don't look.
Dataminers have dug into Captain Spirit and found the main character of the game is likely going to be the older boy we see at the end of Captain Spirit. With Chris being involved as a side character and the other kid at the end, being the little brother and a major character in Life is Strange 2. But the part I found most surprising, is that there are character model data for Chloe and Max as well as Warren. That wouldn't be there if they haven't made the models for these characters and I don't see why they would spent the time and resources if not to use them. I think if you save Chloe, we will see them at some point in Life is Strange 2. Warren prolly comes in if you did his romance route and then saved Arcadia Bay over Chloe. I think it's gonna be very minor and they likely won't have much to do with the story, if at all. I could see it being a public place like a gas station or something and it's treated like strangers just passing each other by as they wouldn't prolly interact with the characters of LIS2 since they have no reason and the characters of LIS2 wouldn't have a reason to talk to them directly unless in the course of the story, the MC finds out about Max's rewind but that seems very unlikely. It could all just be a red herring to get people thinking we will see them again, but with what the game director has said about how LIS Season 1 will have impacts on LIS 2 then I think we will prolly get some small nod and will prolly see them. For me, It would prolly be Chloe with Max as I saved Chloe and I did their romance route (Pricefield for life lol) so hopefully they would be shown as clearly being a couple, maybe a kiss of some kind since we don't get one in the Save Bae ending lol

Personally, I'd love it if we saw Max come in to do a rewind on a mistake the MC makes. Thing is I have the impression no matter what ending you chose Max wont be using her powers again...

I think I disagree with you there. Remember the final episode of LiS, Max has a conversation with another version of herself. This other version of Max says how many versions of her there are because of her own meddling. I don't remember the exact words used, but to me it was the first major hint that Chloe having to die was a choice to make. (I know that makes me slow XD)
I like the theory but their is one major flaw in it. Their isn't any real mystery on what happens with Chirs's mother because and the final scene with Chris's father, in his drunken rage, he said "And if it wasn't for you she would have never taken the car that day" and judging by the reaction from Chris, he's blaming Chris for her death and that is was likely a car crash/accident like with Chloe's father. I do enjoy the theory of connecting it with Chaos Theory tho!

Emily Erickson was his mother who went to Blackwell academy. it says it in the obituary. died December 16th 2014 i belive it said by a hit and run driver. so she either survived the tornado or went on to live a happy few years.
Honest opinion: so many people wish for characters from LIS1 to be back, or for the new ones to be linked with them. I don't agree with the whole " i want max to be back and i want 2 play w her again!!". They would be dragging it too much imo. I already didn't like the last ep of "before the storm" cause some things didn't add up, it felt like they were in a hurry. I love how there is going to be a new cast (confirmed) cause as much as the first LiS is in my heart, i would love to see some new characters and fall in love with their personalities, cause i'm sure that they will make us love them as much as we did with the first ones :) Of course the sequel is never as good as the first one (in most cases) but i'm looking forward to it. I really encourage the whole idea of putting Chloe/Max/Rachel to rest, since the story is over, instead of asking for this new season to be once again, about them. Some easter eggs would be lovely though.
Now, aside from this theory, about the protagonist being male or female, to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if they went with a guy this time out to prevent direct comparisons with Max & Chloe. Thematically, DONTNOD goes places no other developers would dare to go, and I think that kind of diversity and exploration of controversial issues from a male perspective would be so amazing, especially if the protagonist was male and queer. We just never ever get that perspective in games. Male protagonists in games tend to be two dimensional heterosexual killing machines, and it'd be so great to have DONTNOD break that trend and explore the psyche of an unconventional queer male protagonist in their own magical way.
Did you take a look on the s2 trailer? It's a stitched up backback, and the logo usually plays a huge part on the whole LiS story. Now, if we look back at the intro of LiS1, the polaroid symbolizes little details. Polaroid photos usually remind us of the past and mostly memories that we hold close to our hearts, and indeed, that was a big part of season 1.
This intro focuses on patches and stitching things to the worn-out backpack, so the theme "holding onto the past that has to be forgotten" seems to be there too.. who knows. Maybe it's a story that the lesson we are going to take from it is ONCE AGAIN "moving on"? that would be quite disappointing, but again, it's only a bunch of theories. We'll see.
I agree about the whole Before The Storm thing. I get how they wanted to let us see Chloe's character, but I really wish I knew nothing about Rachel.
One thing that really sparks up debates on the LiS fandom is a sequel to the saving-Chloe choice. But continuing after LiS1 makes no sense either because they either make 2 games or they canonize one ending and that will piss off a part of the community. If they continue with Bae, I'd be kinda disappointed that I chose Bay and got emotionally destroyed when I could've just scapegoated with Bae. It doesn't really make any sense at ALL since Max and Chloe's character arcs have been completed, so there is basically nothing to make a good LIS game of there anymore. Max and Chloe's adventures post-LIS would be cute and nice (and probably heartwrenching) but also really boring because in S1, Max and Chloe have reached epiphany and basically have nothing to overcome internally. Rachel and Chloe's story we got in BtS and its ending montage.
To be honest, I think DONTNOD should introduce a new set of characters and a new setting, but keep the general vibe and the spirit of LIS. I am certain they can recreate the magic of the original, but I think the only way to do that would be with a new storyline.

Coreychristo No, new characters could be as good as Max, Chloe, Rachel etc. I trust that DONTNOD would do a great job of making me feel invested, as long as they focus on storytelling and the emotional impact. Since they didn't fail us with LiS1 (although they did imo with BtS), we gotta give them a chance for something new :)

1000% agree with your comment about NPCs sexuality. There is this mania of having to control and label every single character in gaming gender wise because they absolutely need to know to what group they have a part. Because if it's a straight protagonist then it's bad. If it's gay or bi then no worries, everything is fine. I'm so fed up with this bullshit. But most importantly i'm fed up with this mania of wanting to know characters genders. What's the point? Play the damn game regardless of character gender. Also if a character doesn't get in a romance with any other NPCs how would you be able to tell if the character is gay bi or straight? You can't, so why you ask what gender is "X" character?

The timeline with a disabled Chloe? That still had mysterious things happening like the dead whales, so I'm sure it would have led to the killer storm. So I highly doubt this.
That brings up another point. What about this says there are different timelines and that they still exist after she changed what led to that one to go to another one?
It always read to me as one single thing, but when she deviated the timeline became unstable leading to the storm.
I rambled there and got away from what I wanted to say in that once a thing was changed everything was changed and the other route didn't exist anymore.
They should make 2 versions like batman season 2 tell tale game did.. One with Bay ending and one with Bae ending

Well, LiS 2 evaluates the choices you made in both LiS 1 and Captain Spirit, and some redditors did some digging and found, depending on your choices, Max and Chloe or Max and Warren could appear in LiS 2.

Christian Divine is a writer from US so it is not possible that he would make a mistake with the date, so the date is September 10. Also the only way that they have to avoid to make any of the both ending on LiS cannon is to not say anything, I believe that their intention is to go as far as possible from the events occurred on LiS. Anyway, your theory would be very cool and a good solution for their problem with the both endings.

Here’s my theory, Daniel is the storm in Life is Strange 1. I think The more Max messes with the timeline is the more it effects Daniel to the point where all his emotions show at a fatal moment, and Life is Strange 2 is a prequel to the first.
that's not the case actually cause in the beginning of LiS2 you get to choose if u sacrificed Arcadia Bay and if u chose to sacrfice the town Brody, Sean and Daniel stops at a cliff and looks at the destoyed Arcadia Bay

To confirm it I watched on mobile aswell and it was louder than your voice at times
The idea is really cool, however, I have one argument.
We already know that even if we create a new timeline, that storm was still headed towards Arcadia Bay. We know this from the alternate timeline that was created where Max wins the contest. Chloe calls Max and tells her that the storm was coming. So, we dont know for sure, but the storm could very well still come to Arcadia Bay and wipe out the town in any other timeline because it's a timeline off track from the real one.
Yeah I actually had that same thought about if in that timeline you decide to kill her or not.
Nonetheless, it's a really cool Easter Egg they put in there. Im sure it was a nod (haha nod) to LiS 1.
Yeah it's implied that the storm comes in all timelines unless Max goes back and let Chloe die as was intended. And if she did that then the ending where she saved the town has to be canon. It's really complicated and i hope we get a explanation when season 2 is released.

Is that the date the epsiode was released? Because the timeline of the game takes place over one week. In at the end of the first episode when she has her storm dream again she picks up the news paper and reads "october 5th" which she says is that friday. And in the other timeline all the other weather side effects still were on going. Dead birds, whales, and if you look closely after she starts using her powers you can see small flashes of lightning in the sky which become more frequent the later into the episodes. So most likely in the other timeline a tornado still wipes out arcadia bay. The storm was only stopped by her going back and never using her power in the first place.

When you find the pictures of your dead mom .... and Chris starts fucking tearing up, I fucking **UGLY CRIED** and was sad the rest of the video.... and when the drunk piece of shit said it was his fault I lost it. I can’t believe one simple “demo” of the game made me feel so much emotion I can’t wait to play LIS2. 😊

Just finished playing the game. The story is pretty good. I'm not gonna lie it felt a bit rough. If you look closely at what's actually happening with Chris you can actually see how he is going to end up. My theory is that his dad will become more and more violent, and Chris will become some kind of a rebel (stealing that cigarette from his dad might actually mean Chris will be smoking in the future). In the last scene where Chris and his dad have an argument (more like his dad being an asshole), if I understood correctly and maybe I didn't, we can see his dad saying that mom died because of Chris. Well, not literally, but Chris might be involved somehow. I talk non sense but anyway, you did an amazing video. I Subscribed :)

Wouldn’t having either scenario, the town being destroyed or not, canonize whether you decided to help Chloe kill her self or not in that alternate timeline? We know that the tornado is on the way, even in the alternate timeline, based on the fact that Chloe mentions the snow and eclipse. If Chloe doesn’t die, the tornado would destroy the town. If Chloe does die, then so does the tornado. But I’m not sure because maybe Chloe will die soon after you don’t kill her in bed since her respiratory system is failing. Maybe the tornado would still come because William would be alive when he shouldn’t have. Great, now I’ve just confused myself.

I really like to theorize about how Dontnod might continue with this series. However this one seems very far fetched considering it's merely based on a allegedly falsely displayed date.

There is an even bigger implication, if you're right: If you're right, then the 'Arcadia Bay or Chloe' decision gate never happened. Chloe died several days before when (either with or without Max's help) she ended her own life, unable to endure living as a quadriplegic any longer (which raises the interesting possibility that Chloe HAD to die around that time, for one reason for another).
Anyway, the Max in the world where William Price lived isn't a nice person either, she's more like Victoria than anyone else. So, if Chris is going to meet up with Max Caulfield, she may actually be the antagonist of LiS2.
Something that just occurred to Me, you know when Chris called ms.reynolds and on the phone was someone doing a darth Vader impression, I think the neighbor (the little boy, Daniel I think he's name is) has those levitate powers, and what does darth Vader have? Like what powers? He uses the force and controls things, just something that came to mind

As far as I heard your choice at the End of Life is strange 1 DOES matter. Whatever your ending was, it will play out in Life is strange 2. Like when you destroyed Arcadia bay, that will be a fact in the second game, if you killed chloe, that will also be a fact in the second game. Like with the Dragon Age or Mass Effect Games, where your save games from the previous games direct the story of the next game.

I played the demo. The mom didn't die of a condition, she died in a hit and run, you find out from a newspaper clipping you find in the boy's father's tool shed. Just a thought...Spoiler Alert, Chloe's dad died in a car accident. When you go back in time and try to save him for Chloe, Chloe ends up in a car accident, causing her paralysis, which led to her asking Max to kill her and finish the job. Just a side note, Chloe's father's accident may or may not have anything to do with it since he died in the accident, and the boy's mother's accident was a hit and run. Either way, you have a date and two sets of parents dealing with car accidents.
It could be that you should be looking at the connection between the boy and Max. Both have these powers that effect fate, time and space.
I played the Demo, so I guess that's where I got that he has powers....the ending of that Demo (Roughly 20 minutes long of game play). I am not wanting to spoil anything, so anyone who doesn't want to know, might not want to read this. But in the Demo, Chris has powers through his imagination...with one exception, at the end when he falls from his tree house when running away from his father. It ends with him looking at his hands after he appears to stop his fall in mid air with a neighbor's kid watching on. So this leads me to believe there is a supernatural element in it.

While I have to disaggree that the date is highlighted simply because ALL the scenes you see in the trailer are present in the actual game, I really like your way of putting the things together and make a theory. Pretty solid one too!
The scene where it highlights the dates is simply one of the LiS "sit down and relax" scenes where the focus normally shifts from objects in the back to objects in the front.
Also dates are very important in such theorys and time travel things but I'm not that bored to compare every single date in both american and europian writing ways with everything that may or may not happened in the game.
Also what we definitly know, maybe you missed it: We have a backpack and can customize it with patches and keychains in LiS 2. The "is" in "Life is Strange 2" is a patch instead of beeing a polaroid in LiS. Also the preorder bonuses are the most definite clue for that.
I think we gonna play "Cpt Spirit" in LiS2 since we literally see the "why" and "how" his forces awakened.
We see that Mantroid is created by street signs in the final battle between him/it and Chris, but these road signs in particular represent the road that Chris' Mom died on, this is proven when looking at the newpaper that reported on her death, so Mantroid is actually depicting death through Chris' eyes, the reason his Mom isn't with him anymore, that is why Chris wants to defeat him so much.

Doesn't Captain Spirit take place in the same universe as Life is Strange 2? And Life is strange 2 takes place in the same universe as Life is Strange 1, 3 years after Arcadia Bay was destroyed. Wouldn't that imply that life is strange 2 is in an alternate universe as well, and if so then why is Arcadia Bay destroyed?

Interesting theory, but the weird events were happening in LiS episode 4's alternate timeline, so that version of Arcadia Bay was probably destroyed too. Also, Chris's mom was killed in a hit and run. I *think, but can't remember* that's how alternate Chloe ended up paralyzed. That might be the link they were going for: hit and run. Anyone remember the details of Chloe's accident?

After playing Captain Spirit maybe what ever Max did cause certain events to occur in Captain Spirit. Spoilers coming up from Captain Spirit, maybe Emily wasn’t supposed to die in that car crash and Max’s intervention is what caused it. We know messing with time has consequences as we can see at the end of episode 3 in the original game, but we only see the consequences from Max’s point of view. What about the rest of the world she may have made stuff happen that weren’t supposed to happen, like Emily’s death it’s possible her death is a result of Max screwing with time.
VidEvage I think it would be cool if we see hint of this in Life is Strange 2. Like a blue butterfly off in the distance, a skeching of a butterfly or whatever to hint that Max created this world, or at least caused certain events to occur like Emily’s death and maybe some other events. Like maybe we go to investigate the stretch of road where Emily died and a butterfly is sitting on the street sign, and maybe it shows up at some other events too.

This is a pretty interesting theory. If Life is Strange 2 is set in the timeline that Max returns to after saving William, Max could actually be the villian of this new game.
If you went through Max's phone after saving William, she talks to Nathan about going to the Dark Room and taking photos, implying that she is Jefferson's pupil just like Nathan was in the original timeline. Max was also pretty nasty to Alyssa, which is very out of character.
Its cool to think about, but some of the coding leaks we got from Reddit imply that Chloe is going to have a substantial role in this game, which would be hard to make happen if she was paralyzed from the neck down.
