sexual health and education is so poor, and the main argument i see is that men shouldnt have to see it or parents should teach their kids...but parents don't know either, and men should know anyway just for the sake of common sense.
Take into consideration that everyone's menstrual flow is different. What is shown, is the average amount of blood loss. Not everyone expels that exact amount of blood each month. Menstrual flow constantly varies, it varies person to person, plus menstrual blood contains blood and tissue lining from the uterus.
Girls need to be educated about periods at school We were doing sex Ed and I could see from my time planner that we had a lesson and a half dedicated to the menstrual cycle However, my male teacher decided to skip over this bit and not mention it at all. Also, it would have just been mostly the actual science of it, I reckon, girls need dedicated time where a teacher talks things through, goes through pms, what you use to absorb the blood, how often you should change your pad/tampon, how you use a pad/tampon etc. Please tell me if I missed anything out.
That's really sad. Since the early 90s, the school district I attended began sex education in 5th grade. The school delegated male and female teachers to male and female students for sex education classes. For the comfort level of the students. Reproduction for each gender was discussed in both classrooms. This sort of thing really should be a requirement.
Sexual education is pretty good in the uk for the menstrual cycle. A decent amount of the hormonal theory is mandatory in the biology GCSE syllabus. I feel that people just don't listen or forget (I definitely have forgot plenty of my GCSEs.
The fact that most girls get the volume of blood incorrect and the fact I have to double up and change more frequently suggests what is known medically about the volume lost is incorrect and probably explains what I suffered with anemia for years unless supplemented with iron. Although it doesn’t surprise me since most medical research on the human body has been done on the male body up to recent years. They are only beginning to try to understand why some illness effects men and not women and visa versa. Get a woman with endometriosis passed off for years by Drs as “normal “ while seeking medical help to finally discover after 7 yrs on average of suffering she had an incurable painful condition that’s iso advanced she possibly will never be able to conceive naturally. . I think the research needs a complete overhaul.
I have a menstrual cup and it has measurements and I loose WAY more than the shot glass.. like 5x that, and I’m perfectly healthy so its not some kind of issue causing me to loose this much
The 2nd person doesn't even know what the process is called. "Perioded"?!! Say it with me "Menstruated"! Doesn't even know about the 28day cycle! And you've gotta wonder why babies are having babies! Good grief! Thickness is the new Awesome!
DonReality The 28 day cycle isn’t true for all women I know, just saying. When you’ve had a period A WEEK after having your last one, you’d understand why it’s not exactly true.
The contraceptive pill makes the body think it's already pregnant & you just get a withdrawal bleed. It's explained in the information in the packet. But the doctors should tell you as well.
I guess it could be compared to when you soak up a drop of water with a piece of tissue. It spreads over the surface rather than sitting on top and it gets soaked up. Just my viewpoint on it xD.
"Your ovaries kill themselves" Lol bless her heart!
Feels like it tho lol

I thought the UK's sexual education would have been pretty good, considering how my secondary school never seemed to shut up about it...
No way, I use a mensural cup and it’s about a shot glass a day!
Kathryn.rosee all of the liquid that comes out of you isn't blood, it's mixture of different fluids. Google it.

I've researched periods and women's health a lot myself and I was surprised that some period-having women could know so little about it all.
Ask teenagers this though cos we know it off by heart at this point haha

No it's not good enough
Well it wasn't that good when I was studying my GCSEs in around 2008
No wonder so many women have unexpected pregnancies 🤦🏼♀️
alexis, may their Mums should explained everything to them
Andreia Reminiec a lot of the time their mums don’t even know what goes on in their own bodies

Some women lost more than the little cup, it's closer from the wine glass
L. kujweski You dont lose a lot of blood. The little amount of blood is mixed with mucus and other fluids.

DonReality I have mines every 3 weeks about...the 28 day cycle is way more uncommon than you think especially for heavy flowers.

That has always confused me. How come more shows up on the pad or tampon than what is actually lost?

Also it’s not just blood that is lost during a period, it’s tissue as well which adds to the volume of what’s lost.
My god that is so much less than I thought
What city is this??
