've been in the market for a more dual sport bike to go along my 2021 Tenere 700 for trickier terrain or off road parks and stumbled upon a deal I couldn't pass up. There's more damage than expected but nothing that's not fixable/replaceable. I'm hoping to be able to make some videos of the work I do on them the next several weeks.

In all honesty do you think you could have lived without the 450rl & just the 300l. I don't think I could have passed that deal either for both. I do a lot of slow technical trails and that super high compression=lots of stalling at slow speeds with the 450 and the maintenance intervals is also what drew me away.

I’ll be able to say more I’ve really ridden them i just rode the parking lot when I bought them 🤣 but I was going between the 2 looking at them on paper and my needs since I have a tenere 700. 450 is ideal besides oil change intervals but I like the idea of the 300 for low maintenance and fuel economy and carefree of throwing on miles. I’ll make update videos in the next few weeks of what I think with them stock then hopefully get new ECU’s for both.

@@Jeredsmith looking forward to those videos bro. 550 performance ECU with full Yoshi & intake mod was the first performance upgrade I did. Gives it a little more punch down low. You could also delete the pair valve and charcoal canister to make it look a lot cleaner. I got the G2 throttle Tamar not because it felt jerky mainly just to have a smoother throttle. Luckily that 550 flash will get rid of the check engine lights for that.

I am actively enjoying tight hard enduro trails on my 450 alongside the fellas on the KTM 500s. They're better suited to it, but the bike loves it. With a stipulation, though. You *need* an ECU, and you *want* a flywheel weight. No reason to have any difficulties keeping the bike running. If your bike is stalling or flaming out, you need to work on your clutch skills.

@@Liam40 The 450 is far more capable, it's a race bike. I suck so I couldn't take advantage of it. I'm 5,9 & the 300 is already tall for me. I ain't no Graham Jarvis lol, really just learning at Buffalo Mountain OHV. Unfortunately I don't have anybody to ride with. I tried to get my buddy to get a dual sport but he bought some stupid adventure bike.

Great score! I have a 450L and love it. I don't do slow technical riding, which this bike is terrible on, so it's perfect for me for all other riding including long trips. I've been thinking about getting a 300L/Rally for the same reason you mentioned, superb gas mileage. Good luck with these, eager to see what you do to them.

I own a 22 450RL and really enjoy it. I was just browsing on FB marketplace and came across a guy selling a 21 300L for $1,800. Bike looks to be in rough shape with the forks twisted and blinkers broken off and other damage that is visible. Almost seemed like it was a scam.

What do you have done to your 450 so far? I took the 300l rally around the block after washing it and definitely don’t have to worry about getting thrown off 😂 but I’ll going to treat it like a trail 125 where I’ll just ride around out miles on it and trail ride every so often and get good mpg at the same time. I’d say get the 300l if you don’t mind the work and want something to beat on

@@Jeredsmith I’ve done a few mods to my 450. Vortex and Yoshimura pipe. Emissions delete kit from San Diego powerhouse with the coolant bypass. 12oclock labs tail tidy. Polisport clutch and ignition covers for a 450R. Those crappy plastic covers with the foam caused a few of my bolts to rust since they held in moisture. I got a seat concepts seat along with supermoto mirrors. AXP/Moose full coverage skid plate with linkage guard. Acerbis frame covers for a 450R and Acerbis X Factory hand guards. I wired the kickstand switch wires together so I don’t have to worry about that wire breaking and leaving me stranded. Baja designs squadron light. I got a set of D606s I’m gonna put on since my stock tires are just about done. Going to put rim locks on as well when putting those tires on. I removed the air box lid and removed that metal screen on the air filter housing for better air flow. Zeta case saver. Might have some other things I’ve forgotten. But yes I’m thinking of getting a lower maintenance dual sport to ride around town and do some light exploring on. I would like a KLX230 if I can find one for a great deal.

@@Jeredsmith I’ve heard great things about the new Taco moto SX1 ECU. Apparently it’s even better than the vortex. I’m definitely keeping my eye out for a KLX300 as well. It’ll be whatever I come across first.
