I noticed that.this was past their heyday and all bands go through this but there should have been more people than that.must not have been promoted very well.
I was born in 1966...when Get The Knack came out i was totally in love with Genesis, Electric Light Orchestra and Steely Dan......The Knack were like a bomb in my musical life...i've loved them soooo much and after more than 40 years i still do, i started playing bass to "play like Prescott" :) obviously i'll never make it to reach his level, but everytime i play Good girls don't, Africa...My Sharona....well, i have goosebumps even now while writing. Thank you Bruce, Doug, Prescott and Berton...i'll always feel you're my older brothers...ciao!
The talent cannot be obscured. And im a metal fan!!!!!! When i could listen to kiss, scorpions, priest, knack, Blondie, and disco!!!! When music was so divine!
@SignifyinCracka I know and I agree 100%!! Don't even get me started on Taylor Swift, grrrr I agree 100% on what an incredibly tight band the Knack were. Real powerhouse players and great stage presence. I was too young to have seen them live when they were at their peak. As with everything the RRHOF is probably all political and who you know. Jimmy Griffin (Bread) was a dear friend so of course I would have loved to see Bread inducted when he was alive. But I figured, they were known for their ballads even though Jimmy wrote and sang some really good rock tunes. I see what has been inducted since he passed in '05 and I just shake my head and get upset!!!
@SignifyinCracka I agree and I would sign!!! You made me laugh though. I'm in Boston. I think of what I consider Rock and Roll, and it's not what passes as rock now. To me great rock songs are Hey Hey My My by Neil Young. Of course the rock anthems, Satisfaction, Won't Get Fooled Again, Smells Like Teen Spirit, and of course My Sharona. These are timeless songs that just plain rock and every generation can relate and enjoy them. One time when I was in a pub in England watching a friend playing in a cover band. The people in the room were my age or younger. From my experience Brits watching live music at pubs, have drinks, socialize, and listen but aren't really loud. The band started playing My Sharona and I heard woops of glee and people all jumped up and started dancing. That's rock and roll!!!
@SignifyinCracka I saw this for the first time today, it's great!!! A friend shared the My Corona video with me a few weeks ago and this came up as a suggestion to watch so I clicked on. Fantastic, I'd put them up against any band.
@SignifyinCracka YES!!!! Oh My how could I forget to include Great Balls of Fire, all of Little Richard's music, Rock and Roll by Zep, and how abot Johnny B. Good by the amazing Chuck Berry!
Thank you! What a great video. So rare to see the material from this period. A lot of the late 80's stuff they were working on never made it to a release (which is a good thing in many cases). The material they eventually came up with for Serious Fun was much better.
Holy shit... thank you so much! This is amazing. I had heard they performed On the Beach in the late 80s but never thought I would get to hear it myself. And Les Girls! holy hell man. This is so great.
I saw the Knack live around this time! They played this set list at Bogarts in Long Beach, CA. Pat Torpey had taken over for Bruce Gary on drums by this point. A great show....pre Serious Fun
As a huge huge Knack fan this show is “different”, ....not the familiar songs being played, Doug with the long hair obviously trying to get away from their original look of skinny ties and white dress shirts...what a treat though hearing On The Beach, a throw in on the Round Trip CD release that I really really liked, this version is strong on stage and makes me wonder why it wasn’t originally on Round Trip on its late 1981 release....
I don't remember the year, but I saw a show I think was billed as Doug Feiger (not The Knack). They were playing at an old run-down showcase club in San Diego called "The Spirit" club, where all us local bands played. I expected to see something along the lines of the Knack as far as the material, and when I saw Doug come out with long hair and spiked leather I was pretty shocked. I do not recall liking it. I loved the pure guitar sound of the first 2 albums. I remember hearing that flanger on Doug's guitar and thinking "What is this???" Anyway, they were a great, ultra-tight band, regardless.
Great footage.Really good to see Bruce Gary with them because up until this point he and Doug were falling out, sadly this reconciliation wasn't to last.Am also glad Bruce didn't succumb to the God awful 80's fashions,he looks pretty much the same as he did ten years before, cool!
Their look is different but the musicianship is still great. Doug with the long hair gives me a Geddy Lee/Kevin Cronin vibe, and Berton had apparently been lifting weights regularly. Much bulkier than a decade earlier. I always thought Prescott and Bruce made one of the better percussion units around. Long live the Knack.
It's a great song that never got beyond the demo. It's called "On the Beach" not to be confused with their other song called "Man on the Beach". Here's a link to the demo... ua-cam.com/video/7kncrbu_Mdw/v-deo.html
Worth the visit for the only Bruce Gary drum solo I've ever seen. Wish it would've been a couple minutes longer. Everything else... well, nice try guys.
Fieger's stage moves for the song playing at the 14 minute mark are so gross. Way too old to be playing at being Axl Rose. Even Axl stopped that stuff. Didn't he?
I can’t believe they’re playing to a pub crowd , like 20 people on the floor dancing? This is the knack, they deserved so much more..... sad

I saw Huey Lewis and the News at a corporate gig in the mid 90s with about 100 people there.

Love it, Pete. Thanks for posting!!! I sure miss these guys.
Yeah, Mike - I agree! I miss them too, and the old Knack group days !
Thanks for this show. The Knack were a great band and they don't get their due. They should be in the rock hall of fame.
@SignifyinCracka To me the RRHOF is BS now. I stopped paying attention.

Met Doug in grade school. Enjoyed seeing this for the first time. Thank you.

thanks for this video unknown in France dommage the knack is great.
Doug's vocals here sounds exceptional!

Does anybody know who the guy is on keyboards and occasionally guitar in the left?
I am told his name is Irv Kramer
Is this a testament to how you throw away a career?
They were like the Beatles of the late 70s and 80s
Frustrated what a great song.
Certainly a weird period for them with the longer hair and questionable fashion choices by Doug. But, still laying it down thick!
Worth the visit for the only Bruce Gary drum solo I've ever seen.
