Thanks Tracy, and I agree Daughter of a Shepherd yarn is really lovely! We ended up getting over a foot of snow in NM and I’m so grateful to have these warm goodies (and more yarn to keep me busy!). Happy knitting!

Thanks for sharing the steeking lessons. I have not steeked myself yet but very interested in trying as I would rather knit a cardigan in the round. I appreciate the detail you went into it here and also always LOVE the pics of the different breeds of sheep! And...the photos at the end. Love. Jamie and Clare would be proud. :-)

Thank you for this wonderful podcast! I am currently knitting the Austfjord Cardigan, too, and am astonished on how fast it is knitting up! I am using hungarian karcag merino wool in a natural / undyed colourway, which contains a lot of lanolin. I am super exited on how the finished cardigan will look like! Greetings from Germany, Luisa

Ooooh Luisa- I bet your Austfjord is going to look amazing in the undyed wool, and so glad to hear you are having fun with it. I don't understand why more people have made it yet- it's such a great pattern! Have fun, and thanks for the note!

Wonderful, wonderful episode, enjoyed every minute! To see some beautiful stories of farming with a flock of Zwartable sheep, you might enjoy Zwartable Farm Susanna here on UA-cam (hope I have the name right 🤔) I'm going to check out that sweater pattern as I need to replace a nearly worn out v neck cardigan and didn't want to knit in pieces, thank you for sharing the details.
The horror of the events in Ukraine and disgust at the kind of things being put in place in our own country, it's just insane isn't it? I hope that your travels as you head east are good ones, look forward to your next episode!

Ooooh….I’m so glad you might give this design a try! It really flew off the needles. I liked the balloon sleeve, and could see making another one with a more traditional sleeve fit as well. Glad to know about the Zwartble Farm channel- will check it out! They are striking.

I bought the Daughter of a Shepherd yarn at Jill's as well! I do love it, but not so much the sweater I knit. It may get frogged so I can reuse it. Just found your channel and will admit to binging through them as I live just west of Kingston! Moved here last year.

Kathy!!! I am so delayed in responding to comments and am just returning to the channel after many months. I'm sorry to have missed you over the summer when I was in Kingston. Have you been to the new yarn store (Yarn Farm) in the Rondout? Maybe we will meet at a social knitting there some time and can share Daughter of a Shepherd sweater ideas! Thanks for watching and commenting, and I hope we can connect at some point.

I knit and cut my first steeked garment recently. It’s a worsted weight woolen spun yarn, so I didn’t enforce the steek in any way. I don’t like the bulk of the folded over portion (it was color work in three colors, so very thick) so I am planning to needle felt right next to the picked up bands and then I will cut away all the excess fabric.
The only thing I was worried about was not knowing if I would like the fit before I cut the steeks.

Same on the fit question for me too Elizabeth- hope the needle felting creates a fabric you love!
