I think so. There was a 50p label on the box, so I think there was some attempt to sell them individually, but I ended up paying £5 for the whole box. Very much doubt any of them have been played in decades 😅. Thanks 😀 👍

Yes, always good fun. I have the rest of this box to go through, and a couple of smaller boxes I also picked up at car boots last year. Most of the time I find none, but occasionally, I find so many it is actually a struggle carrying it back to car! 😅. Thanks 😀 👍

@@mrrgstuff Neither am I. But for the sake of posterity, "Three quarters of a pence" (¾d) was always expressed as 'Three farthings'. Some of those 1/3d (One and three) Broadcast or Eclipse bargain records were made by top line bands and singers under different names, probably for contractual reasons. It's worth checking online lists and catalogues for rare Al Bowlly's or Vera Lynn's.

Can mould on 78s be deslt with or are they simply beyond repair?
I've 78s for many years bur got my first winedup gramophone the other week. A Columbia no. 202.
I alao purchaaed a Unison record not long after.

I think mould on 78s can be dealt with. It doesn't seem to eat into the record (unlike wax phonograph cylinders) and can be cleaned off. After cleaning, playing the record on a windup machine also helps to clean muck out of the grooves.
I've started cleaning the dirtier ones now, and one did have some gunk on it, which did seem to have eaten into the record, but I don't think it was mould. Sleeves are trickier to clean. A little white mildew is easy enough to wipe off, but black mould damaged ones probably should be discarded. The other potential tricky area are labels. Some are paper and/or have paper stamps attached, however none of the ones I have come across have been too bad, though the broken mouldy record I showed in the video I am quite glad just to have thrown away. Your milage will vary though, and these videos are not intended to be tutorials, more just telling the story of what I did. Thanks 😀 👍

Indeed. Some of them were really nasty, but I did try to clean up or throw out the very worst. Will have to go through the ones left in the box and see how bad they really are. Thanks 😀 👍
