    I had the exact same bike back in 2005-06. And I also had a 2001 SV650S before I got the 919. Seeing your video really makes me miss my old 919. She was a sweet bike and it's too bad more people in the US could not see it for what it was...a great all around bike. Instead, it just died a slow death here sitting on showroom floors. All the 2010 bikes look overstyled. I just want a motorcycle to look like a motorcycle. RIP 919...

    i want a 919 so bad, i have an old cb700SC nighthawk now, and am getting ready to move up,, i love the way this 919 looks

    I bought a 2007 CB900F 919 for my first bike and I love it. Very quick bike and comfortable riding position. I ride it on highway a lot so I installed a National Cycle F-16 touring wind screen and it helps direct wind off my chest. I still feel it on my helmet but it’s great for hwy commuting now blasting the wind higher.

    eh, my nighthawk is nothing special, its pretty beat up cosmetically, but it runs perfect and drives terrific, its my first love (IE bike)
    i simply love how it is more comfortable than 1/2 the touring bikes and can still keep pace with some sport bikes,, really a great machine

    @nonameinfl I didn't even know the 919 existed until a little over two years ago, when I saw one advertised in a local paper. Out of curiosity, I checked it out on the internet, and was immediately struck by its spartan good looks. I found this one a couple weeks later. As you said ... a motorcycle that looks like a motorcycle. I'm still enjoying it a lot, and will probably keep it for a long time. Thanks for the comment :)

    I don't know how common they are down your way, but you should be able to find a clean used one for relatively cheap. That's what I did (mine's an '03 that had 1500 miles on it. Got it for $4500 US) It's a great bike!

    Nice bike! Welcome to the club ;-), hope to see you over on Wristtwisters. Oh, and move those sliders, those are engine mounted and will break your engine casing in a fall, move them to the frame, there are threads about this on wristtwisters.

    look at her resting :D well seems a bigger version of my ex cbx.. its a beautiful bike the hornet 900...
    definitely I-4 and L-twin are different... this one you got more high range power, whereas the sv you got more mid range power...well idk the exact term...
    oh yeah i 100% agrees with you, hondas are more comfortable (seatwise) than suz... but well i'd have tried yoshis, devils or akrapovic on hondas... but it seems the leo is fine too :D

    We have the same taste in motorcycles. I had a 1986 CB700SC for about 14 years. It was a great bike, but I finally decided to go modern, and bought an '06 SV650 (naked). I enjoyed that one as well, but then I discovered the 919, and had to have one. Like you, I loved the look of the thing, and it turned out to be a pretty awesome ride as well. Hope you find a good one, and post some videos of it !

    Nice video! I just bought a 919. It was a factory leftover, still in the crate, and marked down 20%. Can't remember when I've had so much fun! So far I'm just riding it around town but hope to get it out on the open road very soon. Is it comfortable on long rides?

    I actually like the sound ok the way it is, but I'll pull the baffles one of these days to see what it sounds like.

    I wound up selling mine, but if I ever go back to a street machine, I'll probably look for another 919. Great bike for sure!

    Hi DPRider, I love this bike very much too.. I was sold for its looks but i am sure it will ride just well. I am looking to buy a 2007 model brand new from the dealer.. but i need some advice from you. 1) how easy is the availability of spare parts. I heard they could be difficult to get now that this bike is no longer in production 2) also, what would be the cost of the spare parts. I know its difficult to say but trying to get a feel of how much cheaper or costlier compared to a yamaha (FZ1)

    I'm in the same boat. I have an SV and I'm trying to pick up one of these. I really like the looks, and power advantage. The SV handles great, but I just think the 919 is a little bit better all rounder.

    @g00gl3it I wasn't too keen on that slider design when I installed them, but (wrongly) figured they were better than nothing. About a year and a half ago I saw some pictures of the nasty damage they can cause, and I sourced out and installed the through-frame version. I hopefully won't put them to the test, but they have to be a better solution than the case mounted ones. Thanks for watching!

    Nice bike man. I currently own a 600 hornet, but I really want a 900 as my next bike. It looks beautiful.

  • @dprider02
    @dprider02  13 років тому

    @ThaBR33D Good question. If the bike has been ridden sensibly, and maintained properly, it's probably ok. That said, I've never bought a bike with more than 5000 or so miles on it, and have always sold them with less than 25000 on the clock. Therefore, I don't really have any experience with the higher mileage machines. Personally, I'd be inclined to keep on looking. For another grand or so, you should be able to find a nice low mileage 919. If you can remain patient, that is!

  • @dprider02
    @dprider02  12 років тому

    Thanks for watching! Yeah, the 919 is a great machine.

  • @dprider02
    @dprider02  12 років тому

    I liked my SV ok, but the 919 is WAY more comfortable, handles just as well (even though it is a bit heavier), and is a pretty good looker as well. If you're patient, you should be able to pick up a nice lowish mileage one for 3 or 4 grand. I highly recommend it!

    @gmoore9449 Thanks, and congrats on your new 919. It's a great bike. I'm really not much of a long distance rider, but I've done a number of 6 to 7 hour days on the thing, and have found it to be quite comfy. Have fun :)

    @Greenmarine6 I'd have to say that I'm not very brand oriented, but I've always had good luck with my Hondas, and the 919 is my favorite street bike ever!

    Do you feel significant more power with the 919 than the SV? I have an SV and am thinking of upgrading to either the SV1000S or 919 Hornet.

  • @dprider02
    @dprider02  15 років тому

    The looks of this bike are what first got me interested in it ... then I started reading the reviews. Not much not to like!
    The Leo Vince cans could be a tad louder, but I like their sound ok, and they don't annoy the general public. The stock mufflers were WAY too quiet for my liking.

    Live Video seems to have finally died. Very sad. I'll probably continue to re-post some of my old vids here, with an occasional new one thrown in, but I'll definitely be missing the camaraderie we enjoyed over at Live Video.
