Some of my best weathering jobs were models that I was "covering up" some bad paint or glue marks. Don't worty about it - it looks nice. BTW, I've long been a critic of AMT truck model kits. Everything you said is true. If I wasn't already bald I'd pull my hair out.😂
Cool project. I grabbed this too, the rugged appearance of this truck is really cool. I have not tried an AMT Kenworth yet. I thought the same thing about the chain, it looks like a necklace.
@3:47 If it's not perfectly straight (I think you mean square...all the right angles are right angles) that's more to do with the construction of the kit than the kit itself. I don't use modelling/cutting mats, they often tend to be slightly distorted, just the tools to ensure everything is nice and square. The assembled chassis of any model requires a little twisting to elimate any discrepancies in alignment before the glue finally sets. However, I used to build ERTL kits many years ago and found them to be more accurate than AMT. Component parts were better moulded too. After building many 1/24 Italeri kits I'm now considering purchasing a few 1/25 AMT kits because there's much more of a selection to choose from. The Alaskan Hauler with the Lowboy trailer and Cat dozer is something I'd like to have as part of my collection, although the California Hauler instead is something I'm not quite decided on? The Alaskan does looks more purposeful and rugged for the job. Decisions, decisions. Despite the errors with the MACK, it still looks a nice build.
Thank you. I picked up the California Hauler but havent built it yet. These AMT kits can be challenging but in the end the results are usually quite nice.
I never really thought about it before. I have done so many that I dont even look at the instructions anymore. But the instructions do show how to do it pretty well.

It very much looks like a hobby jewelers chain. I think the one I have picked out should look much better.
I just came across your channel and subscribed! Your trucks are awesome! 😎👍

Glad you made another video. I'd like to see the finished build.
Thank you... Its on the way
