In this painting video, I show you the Tips and Tricks for BEGINNERS When Repairing Torn or Damged Drywall From Removing Mirror!
I am using a High Quality Utility Knife, Stanley InstantChange Knife. I show you How to Score the DryWall around the Perimeter of the Damaged or Torn area. I then use my 1.5 inch flexible Purdy Taping Knife to lift the damaged drywall area away and to create a sound surface. I then apply The Roman Pro999/RX-35 to the area to seal in the Torn brown paper. This is an Important step before applying the Joint Compound or Mud because it seals the surface and prevents the water from the joint compound from getting into and bubbling up those damaged areas. I then apply a few coats of a Setting Type Joint Compound or Hot Mud to those areas, and then Sand smooth! I am using A Hyde 6 inch and 4 inchTaping Knife. I am also using a Marshalltown 12 inch Trowel.

Can i follow the same thing on a wall that have many layers of paint before a mirror is as glued and removed.

I remember one of your older videos (been watching a long time!) where you mentioned cutting away the loose drywall paper, which I do. I skim coat over it. I suppose I've been lucky. I will seal it going forward. We appreciate you , Russ. I personally have learned so much.
Yes, it’s very important to seal the paper in after removing any loose or bubbling torn paper! Happy to hear that you are learning new things!
Great video, I was wondering if I could use this product in a complete wall, I tried multiple ways to remove old wallpaper, I ended up sanding down the walls because they had a lot of the fuzzy part of the wallpaper still attached to it and sanded too much in some spots, just want to be safe that all the drywall will be sealed since it's a bathroom.

Yes you do. The more you put on the better it'll seal. Two coats is perfect.

Do you have to put joint compound? My young daughter did a number on her walls and pulled the paint down to the brown (almost the whole wall!) I did sand with 80 grit and removed any excess that was peeling/lifting.

@@RussOlinatzPaintShow if I just put 2 coats of the pro 999 rx 35 and then primer, without mudding, would it create a problem later on down the line?
No it just won’t look smooth!
