    My 2014 with 47k miles. Overheating message.
    Dealer wants $4,800 to replace the pump and block.
    Nope.
    If I bypass the relay to turn on the pump, the pump twitches and stops.
    So I suppose it could be a bad compressor, or maybe the temp sensor.
    I have a refurb pump and block on order from RMT for $400, plus core.

      It's a poorly designed system in my opinion. Conversion to conventional coils is the only long term fix.

      @@PhillipBailey the system is great. The truck rides like a Cadillac when it works. It's lack of maintenance that sucks. Of course, how are you supposed to know you need to do maintenance if you aren't sitting right next to the pax rear tire at ALL times to hear when the fuckin' compressor runs excessively because you have a leak, not to level. I guess the solution is to replace bags every 3-4 years and run a vacuum on the system before refilling with nitrogen after replacement.
      Can you tell that I'm pissed that my '14 is riding on the jounces right now with no blown fuses?
      Did your customer have any other dash messages? Mine popped up with "service trailer brake", "service air suspension", "service electric brake system" and I have a traction control light, all of which popped up on morning startup a couple days ago when the OAT was low teens overnight. I was sure it was going to be a blown 40A fuse, but no. And no other blown fuses. I think my issue might be a ground considering all of the systems that failed at the same time, but I can't find anywhere that shows where the ground for any, or all, of those systems are.

    Hi I have a 2014 Dodge ram 1500 Hemi and the air suspension goes down overnight and comes up when starting. But I just find out now it goes down every time when I turn off the truck and comes up when I I turn on. So I am not sure what is it do you have any idea?

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  4 місяці тому +1

      Likely a leak in the system. Listen carefully after shutting it off for a hissing noise. Soapy water might help as well. Likely one of the air bags is leaking.

    • @vmxg8052
      @vmxg8052 6 днів тому

      Does it go down at the front or back or all the way around? Back is usually the air bags. Turn off the function that lowers the suspension on the highway as the air bags on the rear usually start leaking at the lowest setting as they get older but won't leak at regular height. If the front is down, soap check the 90 degree connector on the top of the air shock. If they all go down, it is probably the air valve that sits beside the compressor.

      If ride height is normal my guess would be shocks. I believe the rear has conventional shocks. Air suspension requires good shock absorber action otherwise it will bounce like crazy. Just my opinion . HTH

    Air ride is a great suspension but come on Ram it ain't that hard I have had semi tractors and trailers with air ride and well over 1 million miles and original air bags and compressors and guess what airbags less than 200$ and compressors 600$. The makers of these pickups know that most people don't have any experience with air suspensions so they build a poorly designed unit and charge more than it cost for heavy duty applications shame on them.

    Have been plagued by issues s my 2014 Ram 1500 4 corner air system. 3 trios to 2 different local dealers , typical just replacing expensive modules and motor. Still not working properly. Can’t tell if they are just clueless or raping me. Truck has only 60k miles on it. They offered to get me in a new truck, just about spit out my drink. “ you can’t even figure out how to fix my current truck after 3 services and you want me to buy a new one?!” Lmao

      @PhillipBailey  3 роки тому

      If you live in a cold climate I'm afraid this is going to continue. The local dealer here won't order any trucks with the air suspension system and even recommends deleting the entire system for conventional coil springs and shocks. There is a company in the US that sells a kit to convert it.

    • @accouswk

      @@PhillipBailey that makes sense in that climate for sure based on what I’ve seen. It’s a joke that those are the only complaints on file . I spoke with corporate and they pretend that there is no real issue with this system. I will probably delete the system - I have seen the US company Strutmasters or something like that. I just wish someone would comment of that is a legit option.

    Hey Phil, i have a 2017 Rebel with air ride. It has given me nothing but trouble, and i'm now out of warranty. A quick way to 'fool' the system to enable level control, when it refuses to do so, is to select fill from reservoir, short term fill, and select any corner. If it passes that, it will allow level control once you go back and clear the codes.

    The secret to success with these systems is to make sure that they remain sealed. In other words, keep an eye (or ear) out for leaks. There are a few places that commonly develop leaks, such as the 90 degree joint on top of each air shock. If the system does develop a leak, it will eventually take in atmospheric air. And since atmospheric air contains moisture, you'll end up with all kinds of issues, especially in cold temperatures. The reason the system is filled with high purity nitrogen in the first place is that it doesn't have any moisture, which means it can't freeze up in cold weather. Too many people ignore leaks until they have an issue where the system becomes inoperable. But if you keep it in good shape, it will work just fine for many, many years, even during extremely cold winter temperatures.

      @Japplesnap 8 місяців тому

      @@travisquicke7169 Mine still works fine. Never needed any repairs yet after 8 years and almost 100, 000 miles. The key is leaks. If the system doesn't leak, it won't suck in moisture through outside air. Moisture means the system will freeze in cold temps. That's why these systems use nitrogen----no moisture to freeze up in the compressor.

    I know this is an old post but I have a 2014 Ram 1500 Laramie with 106,000 miles. I have had it since 2017. It has been an awesome truck until the past 6 months when the air suspension started in with the troubles that everyone has been having. I took it to the dealer twice. I ran out of warranty too. Just paid the truck off a couple months ago. The first time at the dealer, they couldn't find anything wrong. The second time in, they said I need a new compressor at a cost of nearly $3,000.00. BUT, they said there are no guarantee's it will fix the problem. That is when I started researching here on UA-cam. I think what I plan on doing is converting all this crap into a conventional suspension. Ram needs to do something about this and I live in warm Southern California too. I don't think it is a cold climate issue.
