In episode 30 of Whisky in SV, I did a blind tasting of 3 of my favorite 18 year, non-peated, sherried Scotch Whiskies: The Arram 18, the Bunnahabhain 18, and the Tamdhu 18. Based on previous tastings and independent scoring, I had hyped up the Arran 18 to be the best 18 Year sherried whisky in my mind, but in the side-by-side tonight, I realized that I really prefer the Tamdhu 18 and the Bunnahabhain 18. If you are a reluctant Macallan fan like me, make sure to give the Tamdhu 18 a try. It has a very similar profile to Macallan but is bottled with integrity (46.8% ABV and non-chill filtered) and sold at half the cost! The Bunnahabhain 18 is also an excellent whisky if you get it shipped from Europe, but just not worth the (almost double) price tag in the US. #whiskyinsv
