The main character is literally a piece of trash, and the writing isn't great, but they're mediocre and relatively enjoyable if you like smutty books/don't mind shallow characters.

I’d heard about ACOTAR so much and this video made me start it! Oh my gosh…I’ve just finished book 2 and I’m completely addicted 😂 I just know book 3 is going to be incredible!! ❤

LOVE THIS! Have also got on the SJM train, and have read the first 4 ACOTAR books this month.... just starting ACOSF today and honestly am already feeling anticipatory grief that the series will be over. As a woman in her thirties, is it normal to be this obsessed with these books? Onwards to TOG next - my best friend has read all of those in the past few weeks too and said they are even better, so cannot wait! VERY impressed you've managed to get through both series' in such a short time!
Honestly I am SO obsessed it’s not normal 😂 TOG is more of an epic experience but give it time! When I read the first book straight away after silver flames I felt a bit bummed but I promise it gets so incredible ❤️ I read them so fast but ngl I have done VERY little else over the last month 😂😂

You definitely should read fourth wing! Finished the books a few weeks ago and It was so nice to finally read something that is almost as addicting as Acotar or ToG. But because fourth wing still can’t beat them I would recommend a short break between CC and fourth wing! To get your head out of the SJM worlds a bit!

I love that our journeys with ACOTAR and Sarah J Maas are so similar! I didn't know anything about ACOTAR, just that it was sooo popular, until a friend that had read the saga many years ago sent me the books to give them a try. And I love the first one so much that I couldn't stop reading them. Now I'm reading Queen of Shadows, enjoying the world of Throne of Glass, and still thinking when I should read the prequel lol. These fantasy series are lovely indeed 😍

Yes to Fourth Wing! It’s not ACOTAR but you have to think of it differently. It’s more like a merge of Hunger Games/Harry Potter standard but great in its own right. The narrative of the dragons is really clever too!

If you liked ACOTAR, especially the writing, you might like Fourth Wing! I was more hooked on Fourth Wing and enjoyed the fast paced, action, dragons etc. Also recommend Crescent City. If you like romantasy, I have plenty more recommendations!

If you love multiple POVs in the book, I suggest Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo 😍 The characters in there are some of my favourite characters ever!

It’s so exciting to hear you talk so passionately about Maas’ series and your future reading plans! 😊 I haven’t read her series yet, but I have read the Yarros’ 2 books in her Empyrean series (which will have a total of 5 books!). I find it’s a marmite book and people love it or hate it. For me it felt like a guilty pleasure soap opera kind of saga and it took me half of the first book to get into, but then I personally really enjoyed it. I’d say give it a go and see what you think. But if you want to binge the series you might also want to wait for the next 3 books in the Empyrean series 😉
I’ve also just finished the Folk of the Air series (Cruel Prince, Wicked King & Queen of Nothing) and absolutely loved it! I binged all 3 one after the other and couldn’t put them down. It is a YA series, that also has elements of romance later on, and follows sisters that have been whisked away from the mortal and have to learn to live in Faerie. One sister does so in a more passive way, the other in a more aggressive way, and I find it very interesting reading and seeing how they adapt and change and co-exist alongside immortal Fae. Happy reading & I can’t wait to find out what you pick up or vlog about next ✨
I'm absolutely in love with the acotar series! It is my Roman Empire, I'm thinking about these books everyday 🙈✨️ can't wait to dive into throne of glass! I'm scared that it will take me months to finish all of the books though 😅 lovely video ❤
Honestly mine too - the way ACOTAR has become an obsession 😂 TOG is excellent, but it definitely takes momentum to build up compared to ACOTAR but it’s so epic it’s worth the time investment! ❤️
Oh I love this vlog I love all you’re vlog but I’m an avid reader so this one was very special - I’ve read all the ACOTR series except the last one because I heard so many bad reviews on the book I didn’t want to ruin the series in my mind but you gave me an entire new perspective on it so now I want to read it!! I’ve only read the first 2 books in Throne of Glass meaning the Assassin Blade 1st & then Throne of Glass & I’m glad I did I think it actually helped me enjoy Throne of Glass - But on Crescent City I’m intimated by because of how big they are and how long it takes to get into them I don’t want to DNF - so I can’t wait to hear your thought on them! Someone else spoke of Outlander I love that series too but in my opinion totally different vibe - oh I’m so excited all the books you have coming up!! On Fourth Wing I’d wait several months before starting to give them a fair chance!! Great vlog thank you!!
I’ll definitely do a CC review soon! I’m racing through them. I would definitely give a court of silver flames a go if you liked the others - the friendships made in it I loved so much! And enjoy TOG as well - ah youre surrounded by so many amazing books at the moment!! ❤️

Thanks Ellen. I read ACOTAR last year and it was the series that made me fall in love with Fantasy Fiction. I absolutely love Sarah J Maas. I have gone on to read Forth Wing by Rebecca Yarros and on the second book now. Also enjoying it. When I'm done I'll definitely go onto Throne of Glass. Your little crying clip made me smile. I also feel like that when I finish a good book. Thanks for being real and for this awesome review.

I just finished the first book from the ACOTAR series, absolutely loved it! Diving into the second one straight away! ❤ So thank you for recommending it! I understand what you said about the Fourth Wing. I think the writing style in ACOTAR is much better (at least based on the first book), but it’s still a very nice book and I’m excited to read the second book. But first ACOTAR haha, that one has me hooked!

I read the ACOTAR series first and then Fourth Wing. I don’t think you can honestly compare the two. I was hooked on Fourth Wing from the first few chapters. In my opinion it’s far more fast paced, almost immediately introduces great supporting characters and has that youthful, fun school element (kind of like Harry Potter but older). And the dragon element is really interesting. Would totally recommend it if you enjoy romantasy. And if you like Rhysand, you’ll most likely like Xaden. The big debate in my friend group is which one is book boyfriend vs book husband status 😂
Okay yes… I am Rhys obsessed so I think it’s time to meet Xaden 😂

I LOVE ToG! Absolutely my favourite book series ever! Cant believe you didn't cry though. I cried a few times reading Kingdom of Ash, I was near sobbing at one particular scene (if you know you know) and had to put my book down lol 🥹😂😂
Honestly I feel like I was in shock - I was literally shaking for the entire final book 😂 and yes I do know the scene you mean 😭😭😭😭😭😭

You have to read ash and blood serie!! It was the first fantasy book I read (except Harry Potter) and I fell in love with it!! I think you should read fourth wing, it’s a great book. BUT it’s lower your expectations, the internet has hyped up it too much.

Please do more book chats!❤ Thank you for breaking it all down for us. Take time (and other reads) before you start Fourth Wing. I tried Fourth Wing, and the description was right up my alley. However, the number of curse words was so distracting I had to make it DNF. But, most people love that series. I wish books came with warnings for certain topics or trigger warnings or swearing warnings. It really interferes with the story (for me) enough to not be able to get into the story.
I’ve picked up A Court of Thorns and Roses to take on holiday with me at the end of the week, can’t wait to get into a new series. Have you read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon? - it’s my favourite book series of all time
Loved both these series. Very different reading experiences. Cresent city is urban fantasy which is set in our world. And im really looking forward to reading it. Im reading bride just now and its really good, I like shifter romance and this so far has an interesting political aspect and the way its written debunks the myths to which is another different take. I would recommend fourth wing when book 3 comes out as ive heard book 2 is not as good so it hopefully picks up. Thats what im doing. Fourth wing was so good so it's hard waiting it out. I also suggest serpent and the wings of night which is another great fantasy romance which is free on kU or even six of crows, very different fantasy books but good Theres so many recs I could give you. i think going on to booktube really helps me pick my next book alot of them are on ku which I find good. Happy reading xx

This is my ultimate series - ToG. I discovered it when Assasin’s blade was released and had the struggle of waiting for each book to released. But it’s my comfort read. And I am of the opinion AB should always be read first. 😅

Omg I finished acotar 2 days Ago and loved it, i am now preparing for TOG ❤ please read the magnolia Parks universe it is high society world in London with very character driven plot, extremly toxic but addicting…..it is my favorite series of all time, it is also written in a super poetic and metaphorical way! And please read forth wing it is so good 🎉

I was hooked on ToG on kindle as well. Now I am reading ACOTAR and it was sooo hard to get into. But, admittedly, I am not a romance as the main plot girlie. So this is the most romance heavy book I have ever read. Hoping the second one sucks me in.
Wasn't TOG amazing?? Cannot stop thinking about Manon - and Lorcan and Elide 😂 I can totally imagine if you read TOG first then ACOTAR is a bit harder to get into as it has less going on from a fantasy perspective - the romance feels more like the main plot! ❤

I didn’t like acotar and loved fourth wing!! Give it a try any time but try to go in it without comparing too much I guess 😛 they’re quite different in the way the action flows

Love a book video, especially as an author but these haven't appealed to me. If you're looking for good recommendations, i would ask in bookshops. They're generally super informed and have great recommendations x

My unpopular opinion is that ToG is the best series, then Crescent City, then ACOTAR. At this point, ACOTAR is the only series of hers I haven't read more than once! 🤷🏻♀️
Other series I really enjoyed: the Black Witch series by Laurie Forest (minimal spice).
I also loved crescent city! I think because I read ACOTAR first it’s always extra special to me but agree it’s definitely the least complex

@@ellenalicemiller It doesn‘t really matter I think! I started with the series and was so obsessed that I proceeded to read the books. I was surprised by the rich language and witty writing style. I‘m a literatur major!
I read Fourth Wing and really enjoyed it but had not read any Sarah J Maas books beforehand. I am now reading the first of the acotar series and loving it. So excited to read all the books after hearing your feedback. I did not think I was into fantasy books but am now! Another author you may like is V E Schwab. I loved ‘ The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.’ Love your videos and energy for life 😊
