    @Dylan, you crushed this one. I think this is your best video yet - a tour d'force on starting the inventor-attorney relationship. 'Loved your comment about walk ins. Not sure our staff would even know what to do if someone just walked in off the street wanting to talk with a patent attorney. 😊 Keep up the good work. -john

      Thanks, John! I appreciate it. Always hard to know how these videos are being received. Surprisingly, I know of at least a few walk ins that have occurred at firms I have worked for, which is why I mentioned it. One early on in my career was being dismissed by all the other patent attorneys, but I was a young hungry associate and decided to talk with him. Ended up being a great client who has built a huge patent portfolio over the years and is still a client to this day.

    Wow the number of fees and the poor definition of when/why required to be paid. A micro entity fee is 64.00 is that all that's basically all that's required for submission (and of course proof form that of micro status) for a Provisional patent (does that include submission of drawings etc)? Also, the fees for converting into a Non-Provisional at the year mark are (again the Patent Office doesn't make clear)? Which video helps clarify? Great videos! Thanks

      Yea, fees are tough - especially for individuals trying to do it themselves. Since we do filing fees in bulk, we have it easier because we can use a "deposit account" and tell the USPTO to just pull additional funds from this if for some reason we don't pay the correct fees or refund to this account if we overpay. Not very practical for individuals to do this though.
      I don't have a video on fees and don't discuss them much in my videos because they change so often that the video would probably be outdated pretty quickly. For example, the USPTO recently reduced a bunch of fees (surprisingly) and some new ones are going into effect soon related to submissions using DOCX formatted documents. Luckily, I have a staff that keeps on all this to make my life simpler. As for the basic filing fee for a provisional application, that's all that's required unless other fees are applicable for some reason. :) Sorry I can't be of more help - much of this is very case specific.

    Is there a search engine where you can find a patent lawyer based on IPC and CPC classification and how to find out how big is the patent office, or the list of patent applications on which patent lawyer worked on, so that you can find the right one for you?
    Hope I am not bother you with so many questions this days, I thought I was done with patent application process years ago, but now I am renewing and upgrading my knowledge on this subject again 🙂

    • @PatentsDemystified
      @PatentsDemystified  Рік тому +1

      No, I'm not aware of a search engine that would allow you search with such specificity. Also, I probably wouldn't trust the results anyway since the data on working attorney is not always accurate and can point to just a firm in general or all the patent attorneys in a firm. This video has my suggestions for picking the patent attorney that's best for you: ua-cam.com/video/YdgqeTEarhI/v-deo.html

    What do you mean when saying a provisional application expires at the end of that year. Does that mean if I applied in December of 2024, my PPA is gonna last for a few days only?

    • @PatentsDemystified
      @PatentsDemystified  17 днів тому

      The term of a provisional application is only one year, and it expires one year from when it is filed and this term cannot be extended. For example if you file a provisional on December 15, 2024 it automatically expires on December 15, 2025.

      @@PatentsDemystified That's how I understood it at first until you said "at the end of that year" which I misinterpreted to be the end of the year the filing took place in. Thank you.

      @anniesoucek8216 Care to explain how you got screwed too many times by lawyers? I'm curious because, firstly, you can't possibly have that long-list of inventions to get screwed by all those lawyers. And secondly, there can't be this many bad lawyers out there who make a living out of stealing people's ideas. Also, how rich are you to be able to afford paying all those lawyer fees and still come here and ask one more lawyer to work with you. Something doesn't add up. Either you exaggerate too much or just here trolling.
