Nice list. As for Killing Joke, would definitely recommend Brighter than a Thousand Suns. Cheers.

Magazine debut Real Life and the debut The Only One’s are 2 classics.

I've have to check those out. I've heard Magazine, but not The Only Ones.

Buy the JD shirt in white with black lines as per the original inside sleeve. My son has my original copy from 1979.

Great records, Martin! That Mission of Burns records looks great. I’ve had a copy of My Aim Is True on Stiff Records. I used to have that Sugarcubes LP, but sometimes they have a way of growing legs. Saw em in Boston in the early 90’s. Dyou remember when 120 Minutes was called Alternative Nation before changing over to 120 Min? I used to record them on VHS and watch em over n over. Disintegration! A complete and total classic album. Saw that tour too in like ‘87? ‘88? ‘89? I dunno, man… Great vid. Cool memories….

I remember Alterative Nation! 120 Minutes pre-dated Alternative Nation, though. Alternative Nation was a similar show that MTV put out during the grunge era when "Alternative" music was popular. It was on during the day, where a 120 Minutes was on in the wee-hours of the morning.

@@6AM_YT Oh, damn! You’re right. 120 Min started in the late 80’s, I think, but kept going for a long time. Then….there was Alternative Nation. 120 Minutes was an “alternative” to pop music, and if I remember correctly, did a good job, and I discovered a lot of bands through it. Now that I remember it a bit better, Alternative Nation wasn’t really an alternative to much by the time it came on the scene. Nonetheless, you’re right about the time line of events.

I've always ignored Adam and the Ants because of that horrible hit song he had, but knowing he made good music before that. I'll have to dive into that.

Probably the next best Killing Joke is Nightime which contains ‘A Love Like Blood’ which you probably have heard & ‘Eighties’ which Nirvana copied almost note for note for ‘Come As You Are’. If I’m being honest in the U.K. The Smiths have never been referred to a post-punk..but it has always been a slippery term. The cut off for post punk over her tends to be about 1982, I always think of The Falls ‘Hex Induction Hour’ as the last post punk record. Great video.

And Killing Joke copied the bass theme from 'Life goes on' off of The Damned album 'Strawberries' (1982).

The 'post-punk' era, a reaction to punk, started just after Punk became popular, so I consider Elvis Costello to be one of the first of the post-punk era, along with PIL (1st Edition, Metal Box and Flowers of Romance), Joy Division (I prefer 'Closer'), Wire, The Clash. The Cure, but I think 'Disintegration' (a masterpiece) is more post-new wave, dreampop.

Joy Division ➗️ Unknown Pleasures is the best pick. Talking Heads nicked the closing track on Remain In Light " The Overload " from the closing track on Unknown Pleasures " I Remember Nothing " - The Cure , were the band of the 80's. Nothing beats the trio of 17 Seconds , Faith & Pornography. ✌️

The Overload is a masterpiece and so is that album Remain In Light

Listen to The Stooges We Will Fall from their debut in 1969. Produced by John Cale, who also provides the viola drones. Probably the first song with that dragging and sluggish sound. Both Iggy and the Velvets had a big influence on JD and TH.

I vote yes on a Joy Division shirt. Still looks badass. Btw, I have that OG German pressing with the crinkled cover also. And I’m guessing you don’t like Lullaby on Disintegration with the creepy Spider-Man lyrics.

You got it. I've always found that song unsettling.

Bjork fans that discover Life’s too good through this vid owe you a like, subscribe, and donation to say the least. I was lucky enough see the Cubes live at the Metro in Chicago. I had just got my license so my friend convinced me to drive us into the city to see some random band from Iceland. Lol. Bjork was stunning in person.

Def do the JD shirt. But as I tell my kids who wanna wear band shirts, “You better know a few of their songs if you wanna wear that! You don’t wanna be a poseur!”

Killing Joke also influenced Napalm Death☠️ especially the song Amoral. It's Napalm Death's most accessible song, highly recommend! 🤘💥🏴‍☠️🕊️🌍📣
