On SNY's Loud Mouths, Lenny Dykstra talks about the 1986 New York Mets, and also his usage of PED's - and why he believes he took steroids for the "right" reasons.
He's on pills or heroin. Sluring his words and he just said I don't know if I can pass the drug test these days. This video is 6 years old? After this interview he goes on to lose all his money gets arrested 20 plus time's. Sad story
Nope, he finished in 2nd as he deserved. Bonds was not only deserving, he should have been unanimous. Barry hit .336/.458/.677 and led the league with 46 home runs while falling just 2 intentional walks shy of the record at the time. He also led the league in RBI and stole 29 bases for a 103 win team, but his numbers were suppressed by Candlestick. Bonds hit. 359/.507/.740 with 25 home runs in 81 road games. Ironically, this was long before Barry began taking steroids himself, but Bonds was already the best player and hitter of the past 50 years. Virtually no player would have an argument over Bonds in 1993.
Jose Canseco said steroids would make an average player great, and a good player legendary. Amphetamines were also huge in baseball. The '86 Mets are like a poster board for rehab-but it was widespread throughout the league at this time. I just remember as a kid during the 80's all the players with their cheeks puffed out from a big wad of chewing tobacco-another tradition snuffed out in the name of PC. Check out 'The Best Last Best Plane Ride Ever' an animation short titled from Lenny's own masterful use of Lennglish.
He probably started using steroids a year earlier than he claimed. Didn't he show up in 1988 15-20 pounds heavier than the previous season? Not that I mind steroids. I'm glad he had a couple of amazing seasons in 1990 and 1993. It's too bad he was slowed by injuries in '91, '92, and '94.
It was the president & GM Cashen! Right after 1986 Championship! He trades Kevin Mitchell and dosen't Re-sign Ray Night! He Completely destroyed the chemistry in the Clubhouse. Talk about a "clueless" front office? Of all the teams they had for the city of NY! GM Cashen is to Blame for no WS repeat! & No 1 was hitting Oral Hershiser in 1988 Not even the Oakland A's Bash Brothers! ⚾
These guys softball-ed Dykstra the whole interview. They should have read the Darling and Hernandez comments and sought his response. Plus, with their sycophant-y questioning, they effectively helped him justify steroid use, and then they agreed with his rationale for his steroid use as necessary to keep up with everyone else (mainly the entire Phillies roster save for John Kruk!!)
Lenny is such a funny guy-he just kills a lot of his own punch lines with the way he just meanders off at the end of every sentence
😍

Barring amphetamines are "PC"? Tell that to however many non-priviledged drug users that wound up in prison.
Players still chew tobacco at high rates - that hasn’t changed
@@niffirg2328 I thought MLB banned it during the 90's. They still dip snuff-but I thought the full leaf actual chewing tobacco was banned.
@@tomservo5347 lmao no it’s totally legal, or at least its still used regularly. I’ve seen guys this season dipping redman on camera
he's so drunk here

Great reason to use ROIDS.....have an ADVANTAGE other players do not have!!!!
How else are we gonna dominate the Cuban/Dominican players?

you're not going to get a good interview being mr tough guy interviewer, just stop with your poor opinions
When you win a World Series in NY, you’ll get those kind of questions from SNY
