hopefully his politics involving trans people evolves because he actively platforms people who support torturing trans kids until they aren't trans any more.
This is a more complex development of the puppetry that was first used for the National Theatre, London production of 'War Horse', by Michael Morpague, which l was privileged to see at the National before it transferred to the west end. If you Google 'War Horse' puppetry l think you should find information on the way stage puppetry was developed for that production and maybe since
Do you remember those wooden toy snakes? It's contruction and weight would make for a perfect cat tail. The current one works, but looks too static for a flexible cat.
@@mranonymous6517 yeah that was my first thought lol- we had two of them, and they were fun and made click-like sounds but boy did I get pinched quite a few times!
I was indeed wondering if this year we'd see that Halloween-story type video (the previous 2 were amazing and highly intriguing to listen to), but after Halloween passed, I figured that you'd perhaps be too busy with this current paper putter project. Glad to hear that confirmation right now, but... please don't feel rushed to make one or something like that. Every day can become a spooky day, even in the middle of March. So do take your time, and enjoy. ^w^
Oh god, he’s evolving, soon he’ll be playing god, making real animals Willy nilly. In all seriousness this is so cool, my brain doesn’t have the gusto to even attempt to comprehend how you guys managed this. It’s so wonderful, the movement is so smooth and lifelike and the little actions you can do add so much character to each puppet. I can feel my brain rolling around in my skull like a pea the more I try to comprehend the mechanics used here. Good lord! You’ve all done a fabulous jobs!
Love what is going on here but have some thoughts if you are interested (i work in prosthetics). Did you consider making interchangable finger "harnasses" for each actor that have a generic connection interface to the puppet? That way you could still have anyone play any puppet but would simplify your system (no parallel joints, etc. Needed any more). Also, having a spring loaded neutral position is a great idea, but only if the neutral position is the position that is most common/desirable position for the puppet to be in. If actors have to constantly work against the spring they might experience some fatigue. Great to see the progress, would love to fly to london and see this performed live at some point

Slow motion of creepy hands flopping around= A+! This is great, brother! Your creativity and technical know-how is off the charts. I'm so happy about the upcoming play and thrilled with the look of your paper/plastic puppets. Just wonderful.
Oh wow! all the thought and care that goes into the production is so incredible to see. Amazing work! Also something about the way the silicone fingers jiggle in slow-motion is truly captivating yet hilarious
These are incredible, so lifelike. I'm really curious how you're going to put them together on the stage. In my head, they're going to look like shadow theatre but in 3D. I hope the puppeteers won't catch too much attention, or that they suspend audiences' disbelief enough. Good luck.
@@vivisectiondrag are you talking about the trans activists who’ve insisted that lesbians need to “re-examine their genital preference“? I don’t think he supports that conversion therapy.
I've been watching you practicly since your channel got recommended to me near your starting point off by one year. It's been amazing to see you and your puppetry skills grow and evolve overtime throughout the years barnaby. Keep up the amazing work watching this is making me want to get back into puppetry again after taking a year off break now. :
If you're molding plastic or foam around a cast, plaster is a really good way to go. Alginate works well for capturing details, or plaster bandages work well too for cheap. Silicone is too flexible to get a good form
Watching the evolution of your creations and skills over the years has been an amazing ride! Hopefully, for those of us on the wrong side of the pond, there will be some way that we can watch the whole production eventually. And those silicon hands-the bouncing and wiggling is hysterical, but kind of creepy at the same time; makes me wonder what you might be able to do with them, video-wise.
Guy went from making great puppets (including my favorite bird) in his shed and bedroom out of wood by himself. Now making these amazing puppets with an extremely talented team. Great Job!
These are unreal, particularly the attention of detail, especially designing mechanisms for everyone involved. Being a huge fan of Pullman’s work I’m hoping to see this as one of those ‘slime tutorials’ done for musicals since I can’t possibly afford paying for a streaming version, sad to say.
I was in Atlanta a month ago and got to see your puppets from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance at the Center of Puppetry Arts. It’s incredible how far you have come in your craft 🙂 I hope to see your puppets in person some day.

When you mentioned the silicone cast I wondered why you didn't make the finger pieces in silicone instead ( for flexibility and a more universal fit). Would it not be strong enough of durable enough?
Please tell us how you make that cat like that they move❤❤❤❤❤😮 please and also how you make a dog puppet and where did you catch these materials India where to make a rabbit puppet and how you fold this paper like it shaped like an animal please tell us everything about this puppets❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I like your🎉 every video❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm so impressed (and a little jealous)! I've done a puppetry workshop with Gyre and Gimbal for a show we produced and made my very first proper stage puppet - a dog puppet - out of wood. Many mistakes were made especially being my first attempt and the most difficult puppet style (ie not human) but was fun nonetheless. I'm definitely taking notes of your puppets in case I need to make another!
This is amazing! How the hinges and levers make up the limbs has always been an delayed effort of mine. I would love to see more of the internal parts that make everything move so naturally.
Just imaging you do like some sort of youtube giveaway. Like subscribe hit that bell and I'll ship these out to a winner "What's that on your kitchen table?" "Oh that's just a model of Barnaby Dixons hands" Seriously so cool though, I am so glad things are going good for you guys. The whole team is amazing
Hi, I'm also a puppeteer, and I've also been researching and testing different mechanisms for a long time. Do you know of any book that talks about puppet mechanisms, such as the one with the bird that you show in the video? Or do you sell the plans to build them? Your puppets are great as always. Greetings from Argentina.
I have a really big inquiry of you, I’ve been trying for years while in school to try and en capture the way you make puppets myself but I really haven’t been able to do anything on my own was their any special training you did?!

You seem really experienced with puppet making this video was 1 year ago idk if you still do this now or not but I have like this owl puppet and just imagine it's head like as a flat line to hold the head and a stick for its movements but the head won't move its like stuck I tried forcing its head to move and it would go very very slowly to one side and if I tried the other way it would get stuck so I would have to grab it by its head to move it which wasn't giving It that realistic feeling but my point is can you give me a tip on how to make the head move back and forth please and thank you
I can't get to the Bridge Theatre because I moved from London back home to Australia when covid hit, so I won't be seeing the show like I planned. Sooooooo, I'm soaking up every single little detail from these videos. I'm very excited to see Asta and Stelmaria, and I think I recognized Gerard Bonneville's hyena as well. So cool!

I know that those files may never be released (due to copyright or whatever have you), but I will dream on.
