As a Ghanaian I have watched with complete shock where tourists come to Ghana and get fufu without the locals giving them any instructions or pointers as to how the food is eaten so you will find people fumbling with the food and not knowing exactly how to enjoy it. Fufu as opposed to a majority of the food in the world is meant to be swallowed after it is dipped or whipped together with the soup around it. Fufu is NEVER meant to be chewed, and that is what I noticed most tourists do at the watchful eyes of their Ghanaian hosts who just look at them as they struggle with the food. Once again dear tourists, fufu is meant to be swallowed and not chewed. This is my first time on your channel and I think you did a great job as a solo traveller Emily. Akwaaba to Ghana 🇬🇭
Nonsense. She could easily have searched that on the internet. And trying to instruct people on how to eat is kinda rude, it's better to just leave her to eat however she wants.
It's considered rude by most people in the world to try and instruct a guest on the way they should eat the food. Saying you shouldn't chew something isn't very normal or widespread. If the person shows interest in asking if there is a traditional or cultural way to eat it, then of course. It can also be mentioned in conversation, but not instructed. "Not know how to enjoy it" ?!?! I can assure you, people know themselves which way of swallowing they will enjoy. Reminds me a little of when I visited a friend's family in Denmark who treated me to lovely smørrebrød - and despite enjoying it very much, I didn't eat it in a way that Danes consider normal. One uncle at the table began to mention it and the others told him off, telling him to let me eat however I like haha The main reason I wrote this is because I've enjoyed fufu the same way that I've eaten food my entire life, which you would have insisted was wrong. The idea of slipping it down my throat doesn't appeal to me. It's something I'd try of course for the principle, but there is not right or wrong way to consume food once it's already in your mouth. It's however you feel most confortable, and that changes from person to person.

Talking to all these foreigners and everyone keeps saying SWEET SWEET, it confuses them, because, in real English, sweet means sugar...we should learn to say delicious, that's the real word for how food tastes.
How many countries have you been in africa. To make assumptions about ghana. Developed but not the most developed
Ghana can be the most developed country in West Africa, going by human development index.
Its normal to bargain in Ghana when you are buying anything in the market, except the malls. I believe she did not understand what you said when you asked her.
Is your friend even Ghanaian?
She said you can’t bargain for price, also makola is more for the tourists than the locals. Then she concluded with Ghana’s population is 5 million
Ah ah 😞😞😞😞
Oh no we don't chew fufu... Please Ghanaians fufu sellers please give the a note how to eat the fufu after buying from you!!! Thanks if not 🚫 they won't enjoy it.....
You got great personality 😊
It's best to eat fufu served. Eating fufu without soup to even we Ghanaians isn't an ideal option. It's super tasty when eaten "IN" the soup with your chicken or meat. Next time i recommend you eat there (the restaurant). Or better still with a Ghanaian friend(s) who'll take you through.
When she said she was gonna get Fufu I was like don't do it! It's mostly an acquired taste and the technique of eating it needs practice. You don't chew, you swallow 😂😂
Ghanaians are so welcoming into thier country.
Have a nice stay ❤
A well cooked fufu goes with variety of fish. The way I saw the soup with one chiken wing , I know immediately it was not going to taste good.
“That’s different..” is a polite way of saying I don’t like that… 😆
I shall advise that you get locals to guide you where to get food and they teach you the way to enjoy it...
Moreover you used the tops of your fingers to hold and pull it and in that case it will look sticky no water 💦 is on your hand or soup that can prevent it from been sticking
The lady guide is nice but she is not helping. She didnt know a lot of facts about her own country. But great video
I think u didn't get the best restaurants for the foods esp the soup for the fufu. I personally will not eat such bs as a Ghanaian. I didn't see u hv so much fun as a visitor. Buh trust me your stay will be memorable when u hv the right tour guy, the month u visit ghana specifically (Nov-Jan). If u make your mind to visit again, pls get a very lovely tour guy who's fun and know the good spots for fun and most esp visit around December. I wish I had the best than this, all the best girl❤
Was the beach to restaurant to museum and Mall far to travel?
That chicken/cheese roll toastie looked soo good.
Hope I can take my Ghanaian son to Ghana soon & ride horses on the beach.😍🌠🇬🇭
It is far especially in the traffic but bolt is very accessible and affordable.
I think the lady did not understand when you asked if it was not to negotiate prices on Ghana yes it is normal to do that if you don't they will cheat you, because they know ghanaians will always do that so the sellers hike the prices so when the buyer negotiate they won't also loose on profit
where my Quash boys dey? una made this oyibo dey roamroam for Accra for free???
You needed someone to teach you how to eat the food. you will not enjoy fufu or bank if you are not taught. Fufu and banku are swallowed not chewed
Ew, we don't chew fufu, just pour the soup and fufu in one bowl and cut the portion you think you can swallow. You gotta try Waakye (waachey) too, you'll love it
Now I can escape with you💞😍 first time watching you😊
Why don't you chew it? Are you are snake?
@@scipioafricanus9841 That's how we eat it
@@benjaminnanaadjekum9092 Did you not study basic biology at school to know the function of chewing? Chewing facilitates efficient digestion.
@@benjaminnanaadjekum9092 Societies that have this dogmatic "this is how we do it" attitude never make any progress, you know.
@@scipioafricanus9841It’s already pounded so you don’t need to chew it
Get yourself a Ghana bf to teach you how to enjoy the real fufu and banku very well
You’re not eating it well
Just my two cents dude(airbnb guy) was just tryna shoot his shot but apparently has little to no game came on too strong PS. next time you in Ghana link up for a more authentic local experience you should be trying kenkey and street pork ,kaklo and aboboi there's so much more ..
Yes you should always gets some people to teach you how to eat the Fufu for the first time
First all fufu did not come Ghana. It rather a staple food most English speaking west African countries. You need to visit Nigeria, and see a different taste of Nigeria. If you can visit Abuja, Enugu, and Lagos. Go to Nigeria and thank me later.
Your Nigeria fufu isn’t same as Ghana fufu, How it’s prepared and how it taste is entirely different altogether
Naija una dey do oo😂😂
@Escapewithemily next time let me host you and show you the real Ghana
except the part with the kayayo child (i blame it on the government), she did very well showing the positive side of ghana/Africa 👍🏿🇬🇭
which apartment you are staying in?
Any group tour from Amsterdam to Ghana
Emily is so beautiful in the dresses whatever she wears.
Thank you 🙈
U dig yr hand in the soup first so the fufu won't stick to your fingers
Please that lady gave you a wrong info.. Ghana's population is not 5 million.. 😢😢 it's 32 million as at 2021.. Thank you.. and enjoy Ghana..🇬🇭
They were referring to ACCRA
She meant to say ACCRA
The population of Ghana is around 33 million
You seem vrry nervouse being their!
street hawkers; vendors; all the same anywhere in the world. waiting to see more of Ghana's countryside😆😆😆coriks🐪🐪🐪
😂😂😂😂😂its not meant to be chewed...you swallow
