I'd love a 4th race to break up the triangle, maybe they can add one in the future. Definitely will play regardless.

I don’t know if that will happen, but I hope as well. Especially if they can make something as creative as Celestial Armada.
An issues with Stormgate is that its UI effectively only allows each faction to have 10 units. So if they want to add a bunch more, more factions really are the only way.

One thing I want for this is to have animated portraits for the units.
They've said pretty early in development that these are unlikely to happen. Turns out, making these animated portraits was quite expensive.
@@Brotoss247 No its not. Such utter silliness. CGI cinematic are expensive, voice acting is expensive. This is just more work, to flesh out the game. I tired of gaming regressing. SC2 still makes this game looks like it released before it.
Z had animated portraits in 1996 & they were awesome! Made the characters feel so much more engaging.
Not having animated portraits is a perfect microcosm of failure that the future You Tubers will use to illustrate this disaster.

I Meet these guys at dreamhack here in atlanta. These dudes were so cool and the director's wife was so dam nice to us and it clearly showed she supported her husband and really proud of what he and his team created. It's awesome to finally see it going somewhere

Nope, I dont think that which is why I mostly play older games. Ironically they look better alot of the times too, anyway instead of putting words in my mouth listen.
This is a 2024 game from the same people of the 2008 or 2010 RTS so its absolutely normal to expect a visual upgrade after 14 or 16 YEARS.
Mobile graphics and fortnite "style" isn't a style, its just generic and lazy. It also doesn't fit the game if you watch the first cutscene but perhaps you can take fortnite characters serious lol, every game has to look like an undetailed cartoon now. When the terrain from a 2008 game has more details it says ALOT and this is where your "style" argument ends.
Not to mention that the game itself has factions close to what was there before, nothing cool or unique or a big variety like Warcraft had.

I mean you are enjoying a downgrade in comparison to...one and a half decade ago. Sometimes I wonder where people left their standards, anyway its a real shame considering their budget.
Its also not about making anybody feel bad but the kind of quality we get in 2024.

They plan to keep releasing campaigns indefinitely. There will be way more than 3.
And there won't be even a one full campaign at the start. Only first few missions.

1 - 10 like SC1? I'm not sure what you mean. SCBW doubled the campaign pretty much. Ending in 6 episodes which each had around 10 missions I believe.
I think they mean to have campaigns be episodic. So you get 1 campaign, wait a few months and get another.
Kinda how SC2 did it, but they want to keep campaigns coming for years. I think that means we're gonna have a lot more content this way.
I feel like this game requires a 4th faction for its own sake. A focus on 3v3 and 3 player co-op without a forth faction to allow to spice things will hurt the game, especially with the current dynamic being just StarCraft but (literally) more down on Earth.
the comments on stormgate videos are all either sc2 hate watchers or people that actually want to give the game a chance
I'm from the latter side of the RTS community. I want the game to be balanced overall and to be honest that's the important thing for me in a RTS.
Look, I spent money for supporting them, I don't want to give the game a chance, I literally did. I just can't make myself like the game, so far it doesn't even hold a candle to SC2 and I don't see it going in a direction where that could change. They took a direction that many SC2 players don't like and they know that.

I cant wait to play this my father and i used to play brood war against each other he was usely protoss and i was zerg he would mostly win but ill always give him a surprise ambush and one game i won with lurkers and hydralisks

After it goes live and we get tournaments going for pro players, can we get better streaming so it's easier to access and watch afterward, for those of us that can't watch it live or be there in person? I loved watching StarCraft tournaments but it was hard to find all of them. If I wanted to follow it from round of 32 until the very end and watch the games where they won or lost, many times I'd have to skip some. Not sure if this has been addressed, but I'd just like to put my opinion out there.

I was hoping for more "realistic" graphics instead of the cartoony look....I mean we have enough of that already.
I'm excited tbh, RTS is the only genre that although I have played (wc,sc,aoe) never gave enough attention to learn them properly. I want to try and delve deep into this one.

Yes! The Prologue will be free to play for everyone. Chapter 1 will also launch, but does require purchase to play. Chapter 2 and 3 will come later during EA.

So sad about what happened to blizzard but assembling all employees that you guys all used to work with from blizzard into your company was simply genious thx alot to you guys !!!! Will the game have a co-op option for the main missions?
Early Access will have solo campaign missions to start, and we're planning to add a co-op option to the campaign missions later during EA.

Man i really really hope we get some animated portraits down the road.
Im still dispointed on what we got as a 3d facstion... was looking more towards somethinging along side the teaster we got for that death angel/horror. I hope there will be added a fourth facstion becouse it went to wanna be starcraft themed for what my hopes where :/ " coming from one that supported with collector editon and still is active in sc1, so yess i was aspecting abit less starcraft alike on celestials as protoss....
It’s a smart choice, because it Will bring in fans of the command and conquer type of rtses, since it’s more simlar in the playstyle to the c&c factions than blizzard games. I really enjoyed it, and I am an hyped guy for Tempest Rising the most, but this faction gives me the c&c Vibe in the playstyle.

Please, if possible, make the scenario/terrain just a little less bright... it should improve combat visibility as well as micro...
The terrain you see in the videos hasn't been fully "art-ified"--we're focusing on gameplay testing first, so that we won't throw away work every time we update the maps based on playtester feedback.

I like so much of what is going on, but the map environments just feel bland and discordant with the rest of the aesthetic. I am praying for a new tileset option to elevate all the beta content that keeps rolling out and attract more love.

A random kid watching a youtube tutorial could make better looking textures for the terrain. It makes no sense why it looks so bad.
They just said they are working on lighting and textures of the maps and adding much more detail to it before release!
I have my hopes for stellar, fun and engaging single player content. Had enough of CO-OP in SC2 for four lifetimes.

Hey there! This was all filmed using beta gameplay footage. We are continuously updating the art throughout Early Access and you'll see some of those changes when the game releases on August 13.
We've shared in previous blogs how map art was not a priority for us during testing as we prioritize gameplay first--while we're testing maps and changing layouts, etc., it would be wasted work to focus on map terrain art that would only need to be scrapped and redone once the map layout is finalized.

well its good still on beta as this game need alot of refinement. I do hope the final version be more polished than this.

Please consider publishing 4K, high refresh rate, high bitrate videos. They look so much better on capable desktops.
Ive heard allot of good an bad news about this game from game outlets. I think the only problem with the current advertising an why so many star craft 2 haters exist is because storme gate advertised that they have a bunch of sc2 devs soo umif u loved sc2 youll love stormgate but that dosnt work when u dont have a similar budget an a engine that diffrent. I think if they just focused on the game and said something like inspired my the classics of war craft and starcraft more rts fans would be less devided. As than your saying your inspired and not hey we are trying to replicate what u loved. Also i due hope they focuse on a campaign over esports and competive play. As most rts players are funny enough fps players and mostly ay casual multiplayer with driends. An campaign.
That all said i am intrested in this game and hope it an some of the other new rts games coming out help rejunivate the genre. And i do hope blizzard hie hards can open their bubbles just a little to except new games and new spin on classif formulas. Because if they dont and they keep rejecting games bec they arnt fluid enough or diverse enough like sc2. Than the rts genrea wont ever have a chance of coming back.. and that saddens me as i want more halo wars. Star crafts. Command an conqures. Company of heres and similar style games
The game looksand feelslike its copy and pasted different things. Its not original. The artstyle and immersion simply isnt there. Nothing about this looks or plays unique.

StarCraft 3 looking sick!!
Been playing a bunch of rts games lately to prep for this. Ive always liked the rts games with more races to pick and more types of resources to farm and manage. Always thought sc2 was lame cuz youre only farming gas or rocks at any of your tcs. Ill be playing this game for a while regardless, but if it sucks, its back to age of empires 2 and age of mythology lol

We love SC2 and War3 as well. That said, while members of our team worked on both of those games, and we hope players continue to play and love them forever, we weren't done making RTS games.
If you had seen those games at the same point in their development process as Stormgate is today, you'd be surprised!
Many of the players who love those games have been waiting for something new in the Blizzard RTS style--something that feels similar to those games, with campaign, competitive, and co-op, as well as custom games with a powerful editor--and most importantly, not pay-to-win.
Early access, we believe, is a better way to make games. Yes, we are "showing our work" and you can see the improvements that the game has made over the course of development, and we hope players enjoy being part of that process by joining us this August. If you'd rather wait for a finished experience, then go ahead and come back when we hit 1.0.
You should only be a year (or more?) behind everyone else... we're sure you'll catch up.
@@FrostGiantStudios Hope the best for you guys, old blizz employees did always great job on games, unfortunately too few players on rts. And it's hard to match legendary units like Marines, Hydras, Zerlings, Zealot... To be onest the design of units didn t buyed me.

Sad to see it looking like a Fortnite RTS. I support and backed the game, but I’ll probably give it a skip. My 9 year old son really likes the look of it though. I guess that was the point with the choice of art style?😬?
