I love how the boys are doing housework and not leaving it up to just to the girls

The boys ordered the girls to “coordinate” getting the beds made. That’s not doing housework. That’s ordering the girls to do it.
She is even sweet and cheerful when she is in extreme pain. She is an Angel.

Gil and Kelly both went to college, love their kids (they can say at least more than two adjectives to describe them), and they are actually grateful for all the housework the older girls do around the house. While I may not agree with their beliefs, I sure as hell respect them 10 times more than the Duggars.
I like the Nate’s better than Duggars and the Plaths. I can’t stand the mom on it.

Not to be picky or compare too much but I've never seen Jim Bob feed a baby or change a baby like Gil did. Maybe the cameras don't show Jim Bob do a lot of parent duties.

Just so you all know(think you learned by now) the Duggars and the Bates aren't as similar as we thought. Whenever the Bates guest star on 19 Kids and Counting we often hear Michelle say that the Bates have the same goals in life, and that is true, but they do it in different ways. I have to admit that Michelle and Jim Bob are more strict about how their children act. Gil and Kelly Jo are a little more laid back about some stuff. I am well aware of this so I guess I was a little shocked about how people reacted to the Bates dancing. Everyone was like WHAT? Because of people like Kathy Kitchin. Everyone thinks that they are exactly the same! They are not! They just have the same goals in life! Just wanted to make that clear!

Duggar and Bates Angel I agree. I also feel like their family is more 'normal' and close knitted than the Duggars.
I actually have seen him change a diaper in season 8. It was a bad one too. Haha
My dad was a preacher. He always said "the Duggars are so heavenly bound, they're no earthly good."
I had my gallbladder out a couple of years ago, the pain before I got it out was so excruciating I was in tears. My heart really went out to Mrs. Bates seeing her in that much pain.
Then after surgery, pain is gone, is amazing how fast. And you're so thankful and grateful.
I had mine out two years ago.. I woke up one morning and was in the worst pain of my life. I had to go to work at the hospital. I had to drive myself to work, once I got there, they sent me to the ER. I have never been in so much pain before. I was crying. They did an ultrasound and my gallbladder was inflamed and I had a few stones, but there was a huge polyp and they thought it could be cancerous so I had to get it taken out. The morning of surgery I was so so so excited. I was so ready to not be in pain or feel sick to my stomach. After the surgery, the relief I felt.. it was amazing. I feel for anyone who is having gallbladder problems. It’s an awful feeling. Now my sister, is about to have hers out after just having her second baby.
I had my appendix removed and I was in extreme pain and I was cussing up a storm. I can’t believe that Kelly was so calm whilst being in pain
I have no idea why people like the Duggars more than the Bates. The Bates are 100x better. They seem like a real family who actually love each other, not robotic and rehearsed like the Duggars.

You know we all have personalities different from each other. I see usefulness in each family's men. The Bates are definitely more laid back and Gil is far more playful but both are great men and great dads.

if you watch 19 kids n counting you will notice that they all 'side hug' .. family members
They seem like a much warmer family. Also: nice to see dad changing nappies. I don't think I've ever seen Jimbob do anything like that, he'll just call on of the girls to do it.
yup I noticed that too.. also noticed the boys and the girls mixing , sitting together, boys also doing'womans work' lol.. but then again we only see what they want us to see, edited.

It seems like the older boys are more involved with helping with the kids than they are on the Duggars, but there are more older boys in the Bates family.
Katrina's Creations Crafting Podcast I agree, I think allowing them to be involved with the younger ones will make them better fathers and husbands. Which is something the bates seem to really value
Well now we know that was an intentional choice the Duggars made at least after Josh admitted to molesting his sister. If not a norm in their household prior.
The parents seem more normal than the duggers. These people really seem to like their children.
yeah I really love this family, they're much 'realer' than the Duggars, less strict, more free, and their personalities aren't veiled by intense conservatism

Jugde not least you be judged the same measure you judge others is how God is going to judge you. The duggars do love each other each family shows this differently as with my family and others I know. I know families their not overly affectionate but mess with one of them and you'll end up on the news. You just can't compare ppl.. You really don't know. Jimbob and Michelle and great parents doing what they know to do and I'm happy for them. Stop criticizing what you do not know. All the best to you I hope your world views starts to change
They have the same values , follow the same church. No difference between the families. Duggars have a bad seed I am sure the Bates have there skeleton.

Listen. All families come together but this scene. 11:16 made me tear up. I felt their IMMEDIATE FEARS!! The fear for mom’s surgery. The fear the daughter felt being left with the baby for the first time and fearing her moms surgery. The little wave with the baby in her arms 👋 . The dad fearing EVERYONE in that room hahah. I like this fam! They love ❤️
I love the Duggars, but this family just seems to have much more personality, life and love. I don't cringe when I hear Gil and Kelly Jo speak like I do when I hear Michelle and Jim Bob and they actually seem to know and have connections with their children as opposed to the Duggar parents. Shelter your children if you will but the Duggars take it too far.
I agree. It feels more comfortable and allowed to be themselves which makes the kids seem to want to help out more. Hard to explain. Just “easier” love and compliance . If that makes any sense.
I like the Bates, happy family ! Doesn’t seem so scripted ? Gil is much more likable , Kelly Ann so nice I don’t think their home is so rigid !! They have a genuine love for each other !!
To me they aren't as strict as the Duggars, they encourage their kids to further their education whether it's going to college or trade school
Unless you know them personally how do you know that? You can't really base that opinion on what they seem like on air, right?

You can't fake this kinda love they have for each other great family.
Gil and Kelly seem to be such good parents and really want to be close with as love each of their children, I think Jim Bob and Michelle are awkward with their kids and seem to hand them off mostly to Jana. With the Bates the older ones help but Gil and Kelly Jo really do take care of them as parents should. Also the Bates kids have their own personalities, while the duggar kids all seem to act the same, talk the same and do the same. Just my perspective
I really love Bringing Up Bates. I love the way Gil and Kelly Jo raise their children... believing and serving the Lord. I literally can't wait until Thursday night so I can watch this show. I'm praying for Michael and Brandon to soon have an announcement of their own. I loved the show that featured their engagement, the wedding and just everything about this couple as I do with all of the courtship and engagement events for all. Continued success for this wonderfully enjoyable show. God bless.
I've only just come across this family and I love how fun-loving and happy they all are. There is a huge amount of love and respect between them all. The parents are doing a wonderful job raising their family.
Imagine being greeted with that much love and hugs and gifts and smiles and family. And sweet signs.

The Bates family seem more like a normal family, genuine love, a plenty ! House is really lived in , all chip in to do what’s needed, yet not as much yelling and screaming as you’d think with 19 kids !
I wish the Bates were the stars of 19 Kids and Counting instead of the Duggars. I like them a lot more than the Duggars.

family. The girls have their own opinions and are not tied to babysitting other siblings. In one episode on of the girls was talking about cooking and said if you don't like it than you can keep quiet or something to that effect. This family is real! Duggar girls seem so afraid to speak up

I'd hate to have to pay their electric, water and grocery bill each month....lol. Seriously though, the Bates are amazing people and I love watching them. I live about 30 or 35 minutes away from Lake City and every time I go by there on I-75 I always think of the Bates family.
Im sorry but kelly bates on pain meds is my favorite thing ever.
My husband did the same thing as gill stayed with the nurses and with me all through my recovery, admission, and before surgery. He was and is my prayer partner for life. We are now expecting our 1st rainbow baby possibly 2 rainbow babies. :) God is so merciful and loving.

I don't mean this to sound mean or anything, but it is just me or does anyone else feel like this family is more genuine and real than the Duggar Family? Maybe it's because I use to live in Clinton, TN and I know that most all the people there are just like the Bates Family. Clinton is just a short drive south of Lake City.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Duggars, but the Bates are just more down to earth, to me.

I think how I describe the Bates verses the Duggar’s (I enjoy watching them both) for me is that I’d love to be in the Bates family whereas I’d never want to be a Duggar. They’re both different in family dynamics but this family just seem more educated, together, and loving. Idk why I feel that way but I think it mostly comes down to how the parents interact with the kids. The Bates parents seem so much more involved with their kids whereas with the Duggar parents, it felt like the older kids raised the younger kids. And I love how much the Bates have this close knit bond. (Edited to fix grammar issues).
May God, through Christ Jesus divinely bless, favor, protect and graciously cover the Bates family, and all their future posterity perpetually. I never had, nor will I ever have that kind of love, from family or anyone on earth, but as I continue my walk with the Lord Jesus, I will trust to meet all of you one day. If not here on earth, then in Heaven with the Lord, and others of the body of Christ. Amen.

I am totally at the opposite end of the political and religious spectrum as these folks (mainly because I used to be one arrow to keep the quiver full) but I do think the bates are a sweeter and closer family than the duggars. It's like I can see Gil Bates actually loving his family while Jim Bob duggar is very awkward around his kids and tends to put michelle in charge of them (not anything else of course). But when he was describing the procedure to the little ones Gil genuinely had a twinkle in his eye.
+J.London I definatelly agree Jim Bob is a strange guy. However if you watch the show he still takes care of his kids. Not as good as Gill Bates but still teaches and helps them. But atleast Duggar dad is better than most american fathers or mothers nowadays. Michelle is also not a slave or something. Their is nothing wrong with being a stay at home mom. Although Jim Bob does need to listen to her more. But in the end Bates are better.

I liked this show better then the Duggar' one.
So cool to see all the kids when they were all home and single still. I have been watching their families grow on You Tube and the weddings, births, etc. They are all so blessed. I love all the Bates and their spouses and kids. So fun to watch, especially them all being in the faith and so loving with each other. God bless you all!

So sweet. He are a big family that gets excited to seeceachothervyoo❤️Can’t beat the love and connection of it. Our are “mine-yours-and ours” so is more like the Brady Brunch, but large families are pretty cool. Definitely not for everyone. But neat when the work out well.

I'll take this family over the Duggars anytime- they're not fake and phony and Gil actually changes diapers, which I totally didn't expect. Moreover these kids are just more relatable as opposed to being submissive automatons.

I had a serious gallbladder attack before getting mine removed, and I was nowhere near that pleasant HAHAHA
a few hours after watching the episode of bringing up bates where Travis proposed to Katie, back here checkin out how much they’ve all grown. Wowzers 🤩 & Carlin, oh my stars! LOL 🤣 they were so little 😊
