Solid, very upbeat stuff! Some very distinguished swing and jazz folks passed through the aggregation's ranks at various times: Gene Krupa, Jack Teagarden, Jack Jenney, Toots Mondello, Teddy Grace, Brad Gowans, Frankie Carle, Floyd O'Brien, Don Fagerquist, Irene Daye. Favorites for me in this set include: Let's Have Another Cigarette; You And Me; You're Out Of This World To Me; One Never Knows, Does One and I'd Love To Play A Love Scene. Cute, swinging treatments -- and Teddy's unique sound gave the band something special.
I love the singing of Teddy Grace, a wonderful and sadly forgotten singer. I think Mal's band is also sadly forgotten but as you pointed out Elizabeth, some big names passed through his outfit. I read that even Count Basie felt that Mal's band was one of the best of the era. Thank you as always for the great comments, I appreciate them so much.
Glad you enjoyed this set Craig. I see a thumbs down from somebody since last night. Too bad they don't enjoy the music of Mal Hallett. I do wish UA-cam would enforce the rule requiring someone to have to comment in order to use the thumbs buttons. I read that this is under consideration now. As a video creator, it doesn't tell us what they didn't like about the video. It only leaves us to assume what we may think may have been the reason. I suspect that after UA-cam's 2018 Rewind video receiving almost 13 million thumbs down, the most in UA-cam history, that policy may change.
This is a beautiful Christmas present, Bob. I didn’t know this orchestra and it’s simply awesome! The material is also first class. Thanks to Henri de Lagardère too, who makes possible to know how much talent is involved on the composers side. All the recordings are brilliant but my favorites are “You And Me” “I’d Love To Play A Love Scene” and “Let’s Have Another Cigarette”. Merry Christmas!!
Merry Christmas to you too Alvaro. I am glad that I could introduce you to the music of Mal Hallett's orchestra. You and Me is a great choice, one of my favorites along with You're Out Of This World To Me. More to come soon!

Another great upload of good old time music from the 1930s and 1940s!
