This selection by Teddy Joyce’s band lets you in on the great sound Teddy had...the life of compere and bandleader took its toll, with him dying oh so very young. Here KPAX has opened the door to a time machine, and you’ve been beamed back to the mid-1930s...did you pack your tux and martini kit? Lol...
Such a really good comment from you Spencer! If you are not a writer, you should be one! I read a few months back about Teddy's death, so very sad. I believe he was actually a Canadian but his band was in the UK. There is a boxer by the same name and they both look very much alike. Glad you liked the selection and I have more by him as well.
What a great selection this is !! Every track is superb, more than one of which I am listening to for the first time. Tracks 6 and 7 have a special attraction for me. I knew that Jack Plant was a vocalist with several bands of the period, but I was unaware that he did so with Teddy Joyce. Learning something new every day. Thank you for sharing these gems.
I am a little behind my times Walter but I always appreciate hearing that you enjoy the selections. So far this is the only Teddy Joyce track I have come across with Jack singing on it.
Bob, this is a very stylish and refined program you've put together. I almost felt too informally dressed to listen to it! All in this smart set from Teddy's fine band are top drawer, with my favorites being "Then I'll Be Tired Of You" and "When Lights Are Low" -- very snazzy treatments of two of my favorites!
Always a pleasure to know you enjoy the posts Elizabeth. I think it would be fun to dress in period style clothing and attend an event. Hope you are doing well!

Professional debut with the Frank Silver Band, worked for the Dorsey Brothers and Rudy Vallée. Went on to become an emcee in St. Louis, Pittsburgh and eventually Hollywood. Moved to London in 1934 to become MC at the Kit-Cat Club. Apart from his regular orchestra, he founded an all-girl band, Teddy Joyce's Girl Friends, and a youth band, Teddy Joyce's Juveniles. After initial financial difficulties and a file for bankruptcy, Teddy Joyce managed to lead a successful orchestra until his untimely death from cerebro-spinal fever.
Great music but I couldn't find anything on Teddy Joyce on Wikipedia at all. Maybe I searched wrong but there seems to be lack of real information on him. That's sad because his music is excellent.
