- Crash Bandicoot was one of the first fully 3D platformers ever made, and being that, Naughty Dog had to come up with ideas that hadn''t even been thought of before. So, just like Super Mario 64, ideas were considered and were either used or scrapped. And now, you'll know exactly what these scrapped ideas were.

One thing you forgot to point out was the cartoon intro actually had enemies that didn't show up until the sequel. Tiny Tiger and Komodo Bros were there.

+Vladski The PS1 definitely had the best loading screen. It was really the greatest experience to turn it on with Crash Bandicoot in the console. Definitely can't be recreated with PS2 or PS3, despite those being my only two methods of playing the game currently - I don't even know where my PS1 is at the moment.
I absolutely love that cut animated intro. Just the theme song and the intro remind me of two animated shows intros from that era, Histeria! and a little bit like Freakazoid. I wonder if some of the song writers for those shows (or even Animaniacs) wrote this song. It's a shame it wasn't released in the game.

Can someone stop this Ferret guy from shouting, I could hardly watch the video without feeling uncomfortable at how this guy was just yelling into the microphone, the difference in tone of the voices is really jarring to me.

+DarkzyArtz™ Naughty Dog never sold Crash because they never owned it. They were hired to make 3 games for Universal Interactive and thus created Crash. When they decided to break away from Universal to instead work with Sony directly, it meant they had to leave behind Crash as well.

only thing that rubbed on me entire time was Ferret was "yelling" way too much. its like breaking me to try focus on understand more about the beta stuff. I've got used to hear you only talk Beta64 and your voice is just fitting for this stuff. I understand for sure having someone as visiting guest is fun but.. Ferret could have tried talk slower and also more calm like you do.

On crash bandicoot n. sane trilogy, I completed stormy accent. Yes, every box in one attempt. And to be honest, I found slippery climb pretty easy.

I'd like to point out something. According to Dave Siller, one of the creators of Crash Bandicoot, Naughty Dog was in fact the ones pressing for Willie the Wombat to be the official name, not Universal.

If that animated short was designed to be the intro for the first game, it actually shows one really cool thing:
Tiny Tiger and the Komodo Brothers are visible in it in the background, and that means that, even if they're not in the first game, their designs were already complete before the second game was made.

You know, the animated ending is really cartoon-y, but I like that they show Cortex giving the final FU to Crash by him blowing up his own blimp, possibly killing him.

I love when betas get leaked online. The fact that I can sit here in my bedroom, and play an old unfinished pre-beta build of the original Crash Bandicoot, is bananas to me. As is being able to play an old E3 demo prototype thing of the original Tomb Raider.

I'm glad to see that after two decades the first game I ever played still gets recognition. I am subbing from pure nostalgia alone.
I knew Universal was a little off, but I didn't know they were insufferable pricks. They literally would have ruined Crash Bandicoot if it weren't for Naughty Dog, especially with that laughable intro.
+ranchdressing Eventually they ruined the franchise. Even if it was rumored that by 1999 the Jax & Daxter engine was greenlighted, and Naughty Dog was a bit tired of Crash, Universal was always the franchise holder.
Vivendi, Sierra, Activision... All a mere transfer of assets, the owners were kind of the same. And don't forget they did affect the game's storyline by asking Naughty Dog to nix Tawna (hence the creation of Coco Bandicoot, this was done on the grounds that the character was too sexist and stereotypic, as in a blonde bimbo with killer curves).
I think Sony showed no means to have a mascot because their focus was in marketing a variety of franchises with equal exposure and under a more tight developer studio structure than, say, SEGA and its countless studios, or Nintendo and its limited first-party appeal nowadays (and also back then), hence, a mascot was not needed and they didn't bid to obtain the rights or anything. As for Naughty Dog, I'm sure they would have pushed to own the franchise, but seeing that Gavin and Rubin left the company they co-created tells me they would have purchased the franchise only to kill it at the dawn of Jak & Daxter and without any successor games like all the shit released later on.

Seriously, that was the 90's, video game-adapted TV series were done VERY kindergarten because that was the target audience. But yes, Naughty Dog were great with making the game the way that it turned out. Though I wish the cut levels had been included. Stormy Ascent could have been an unlockable level dedicated to those hardcore enough :D
The pinstripe boss sound is actually in the game. It hard to hear over the glass breaking, but you can kind of hear it if you're wearing headphones.
So there's been some interesting news! Some trophies have been leaked for something called the "Lost Treasures" DLC for the N.Sane Trilogy, specificially Crash 1. It seems like it will include Stormy Ascent! I hope they include other removed levels as well.

It seems like the sprite art would've aged better than the 3D map/title screen, but I'm still glad that they picked the 3D stuff, since it fit the style of the game better
Hopefully, Activision will play it smart and finalize the incomplete stages for their upcoming N. Sane Collection, though that's probably just wishful thinking. The Acid Cavern stage could be implemented in a way to further explain where Cortex falls after his defeat- i.e; Making the stage the very same cavern where he first discovers Uka Uka and the crystals, creating a additional aspect of storytelling that could help expand onto the mythos of the second title. Additionally, having the removed waterfall stage function as a prelude to the Ripper Roo fight would be perfect.
It's funny how despite the games' cartoon artstyle & music, the animated intro and outro seem really out of place. o.o I feel it strays away from the games original style, a platformer with a fun story. Not just a cartoon with a 'wacky' character.

I think that Stormy Ascend should have been a bonus level for finishing/completing the game and beating it would simply be for bragging rights.

I still find it so fascinating that Tiny is in the intro but he doesn't actually make it into a game until Crash 2...same as the Komodo brothers, which makes me thing they were originally made for this game but got pushed back to the second game
That cut waterfall level could be the level leading to the Ripper Roo battle, since it takes place at the top of a waterfall
