Back to Sanremo for a day and M/Y Pure (formerly Sarafsa) is fuelling so I thought I'd take a look.
This is the yacht that was seized by the bank from non other than a Saudi Prince and sold to Olivier Leclercq the son of Decathlon founder - Michel Leclercq.
However a crew member seemed to take exception to my filming and approached me.

Great to see your professionalism shine through on this video. Other youtubers would've broadcast the interaction with this guy you mentioned. I'm sure I speak for many of your subscribers that your content is first class. Keep up the great work 👍
I’m also a twenty year veteran of the industry, engineering. As a crew member, you need to be polite and quite tolerant or you will not last on any boat. Living and working in tight quarters requires the ability to get along with others well. I absolutely agree with your point that as crew, you represent the boat and the owner. Keep yourself in check.
no one knows if that was a crew member or a bodyguard from a crimminal or time chare worker or one how is hiding or is on drugs...
People like this have no fear of anything and that I would cinsider why this guy has no fear. If he will be not firerd by his boss he is the orga boss for his ship boss...
Lol... Supposed his job is to make people uncomfortable and get the f** away from the boat?
Whilst refuelling a large sailing yacht in St.Johns in Antigua HMS Plymouth came and moored up just ahead of us . The first officer of Her Majesty's Ship approached our Chief Engineer who was supervising our bunkering and told him we were too close to his ship. The reply to this rather snotty and pompous individual was a short phrase containing just two words. No prizes for guessing that both words contained the letter F !
That dude must be a joy to be confined with. Pity to the staff.
@@OOpSjm He must make his colleagues life hell.
Excellent handling of the 'hostile crew member' situation. This speaks volumes of you personally as well as professionally.
Sorry to hear that you had ‘one of those interactions’.
I’m a now retired yacht engineer.
Most I met in the industry were great, we all faced the same problems so I think we all felt some sense of camaraderie and I can’t believe that much has changed in 10years.
I only had one vaguely similar incident, in PortoFino, when I was working aboard a 30m M/V.
We had docked and I’d hooked up the shore power as usual, PortoFino has a “No Gens After Dark” rule to keep noise down.
While we were below eating dinner the power shut off. I assumed we’d drawn an amp or two too much and popped the shoreside breaker so I went dockside to check it.
Our lead had been unplugged from the dock power pole and another plugged into the socket we’d occupied.
There was a USA flagged J class repro next to us that had been running its onboard gensets, it had arrived an hour or two after us.
They’d run two cables ashore and plugged into both available sockets on the power pole, unplugging ours to do so.
I politely asked the crewmember guarding their passarelle to fetch an officer, preferably an engineer if possible, so that we could work out an accommodation, there are ways of sharing limited supplies in a pinch.
What arrived was a very large example of steroid overuse, wearing a pretend US navy bridge officer’s uniform and a massively FU attitude, he basically told me to get lost and no they wouldn’t free up a socket. (That’s a polite version of his negotiation tactics)
Rule 1, don’t annoy an engineer, we have ways of causing issues when we become upset or feel abused.
We didn’t have owner or guests aboard so we simply slipped over to a free outer harbour cliff mooring where we were ok to run our generator overnight.
I heard that they spent a lot of the night trying to establish why they suddenly had mystery earthing issues and I have no idea when they finally found out why their gensets would only fire a couple of times but not start and stay running.
Apparently, they did not like it up ‘em, not even a tiny bit. 😂
Later, I also gathered that the harbourmaster became quite vocal with them about causing a commotion at night.
Some might assume that I acted unprofessionally. My skipper would disagree and the skipper’s word and judgment is, after all, law.
I absolutely love it. 😂
Come on, what did you do?
I had an excellent night’s kip, then prepared my vessel for departure at first light and we left for the French Riviera, travelling at an average of 35 knots, our efficient cruising speed.
😎
Well done for not exposing the bully directly. Message is clear. Let him fester in his own misery while you carry on being awesome.
Bullies should always be exposed
I respectfully disagree unless he gave a good reason for not wanting his face to be shown. It will discourage that type of behaviour.
I would have posted a whole video showing the aggressive crew member, I would have found out all about him, run a big story all about him and... * *FUCKED HIM UP!**
De-escalation of the situation within the brotherhood of Mariners. Besides, both may see each other on a professional basis.
@@Glynn12 That’s the American way of dealing with problems. Sometimes it’s more effective not to stampede around, shoot everything in sight and leave the corpses for others to sort out. Saves a lot of time and energy in the long run.
Thank you for the video and update. We were docked next to Pure in Porto Fino recently which you can see in one of our videos. Although the paint looks bad the rest of the boat looks quite good and after a paint job at the end of the season she’ll be great. (I hope they remove that foremast)
Sucks about that crew member. No crew member ever should act like that to anyone when in uniform (or ever) as we are all representing the yacht and ultimately the owner. If you ever see us at dock or at anchor please make sure to come say hi 🛥️😁
you guys are cool. most of the other yachts not so much lol.
He was probably defensive because his vessel was in such bad condition. Unwarranted aggression is also a sign of weakness. I love the way you handled it. Well done.
Maybe hostile crew member has good reason not to be photographed?
The hostile crew officer should be “proud” of himself for singling himself out as a first. In all the time I’ve watched your channel, I’ve never heard you mention a crew member getting aggressive with you for your always respectful coverage.
If they are so aggressive on M/Y Pure, I bet its a negative experience to book a charter with them. Thanks for the heads up.
why would you book a boat with a bunch of mohammies?
@@tonyvelasquez6776 He's not a Bigot like you.?
Good point!...
as if you're ever going to be chartering a super yacht LOL, online poser
Sir, it is not lost on us how much of your time it took to shoot this video from the time of the fuel loading to you waiting until it sailed. The video of it leaving port and heading out to sea was some of the best video you have EVER provided us. Spectacular! and did that for us... for free! While you could have been enjoying the beach, resting in your room, or otherwise doing something more fun. Thank you!
Nice job addressing the Karen (that's an American term) and how he rep's his boat, so true.
Love your videos, your incredible insight, and all that you do for us. Thank you.
well said Patrick
When they increased speed after clearing the breakwater I think I saw prop wash from only the starboard screw. Port engine malfunction, or not enough fuel to run them both?
I can tell by the tone of the video you were definitely upset and unsettled by the interaction with the bad-mannered crew member. I get it, not everyone likes to be filmed but there is a right and wrong way to object. I like your channel and try to watch whenever you release a new video, thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Hear hear. Well said though a small part of me would love to the the interaction. Teach him a lesson!
@@TheLoxxxton "Teach a lesson", eh. to be fair, if the crew doesn't want any interactions with the people of that port, then maybe that ship should not return to that port, if they are ever invited back after such appalling behavior. no need for revenge or malice, just simple respect and fair treatment in kind. "If Ye don't want us looking at your ship, then don't bring it to this port."
There is a special set of regulations in harbors. ISPS.
It’s a international convention.
Made to protect people who work in the marine industry.
Could be he’s got a warrant out for his arrest somewhere and doesn’t want to be seen.
@@tfhmobilThis channel has always reported the crew of Sarasfa has kept her interiors impeccable and the exterior's condition is the result of a protracted sale.
Good work. Politeness costs NOTHING
Always enjoy your reporting and explanations created with respect and thoughtfulness. Thanks as always.
Set fire to his boat - it's not like it could look much worse! That'd bloody teach him...🏊
Just don't let miserable people make you feel miserable. They enjoy making others feel uncomfortable. You can't let them win.
THANKS ESYSMAN 🤗 for explaining ,and TAKING THE HIGH RD. 😎💚💚💚
Your a true ambassador for the superyacht community and it sounds like you could teach crew members the appropriate way to conduct themselves....Maybe you could start the eSysman Crew Academy...😉
Such a great role model for all the people not only the seafarers.
You got our respects sir.
Thank you for your videos.
Respect eSysman, you could not handle this situation better, hats off!
🚩Hope this is brought to the attention of the ship's Captain & owner. Well put, Sir.👍
Who’s to say that what he did was not his job as instructed by the captain and owner?
@@jimc4731 bc Sysman has been in the industry & has not encountered it before. So if something seem off or inappropriate, I'll believe him.
@@jimc4731 Then it's a red flag for them as well. There is no expectation of privacy outside in the public. I don't know why it's sp hard for some people to understand that.
There are petty minded people with an inflated opinion of themselves in all walks of life, and you treated him perfectly. Well done!
I often repeat the mantra that the quality of a yachting experience has more to do with the crew than it does the yacht itself. To encounter a crew member so toxic as to be clueless as to how to interact with the public/media does NOT speak well of a yacht at all. I hope the owner of Pure is not intending to use their yacht for Charter.
Agreed. I make sure all our crew are friendly and respectful to everyone at all times.
Interesting how the hostile crew member had a really big - somewhat emoji-like - head! 😂
I like how every interaction with the public or with other members of your industry I've seen of yours has been professional and respectful. You don't sensationalize or try to make anyone look bad. Good report on the bully. No telling what his reason was for his attitude. Maybe he was angry at having to approach you and had no idea what you can video or post. Doubtful in this day someone doesn't know, but I get videos regularly of folks in US who should know that have no idea. If he knew who you were, he should know.
Enjoy watching you grow as a UA-camr. Such respect for you. Keep up the good work.
very graceful reply Esysman. That's why you're the best. 100% class!
Sorry to hear about the cabin boy incident , good update as usual thanks.
Well mannered reply to what could have been deadly. You are correct in offering a cool conclusion and hopefully the mate will learn. Stay cool.
I don’t know what inspired the aggression as I can’t recall you ever videoing anyone with an identifiable image?
Keep up the good work!
JIM ❤
Love your channel. Very few of us would ever get to see these beautiful yachts otherwise. Art is meant to be enjoyed. Thank you!
It sounds like you dealt with the hostilities very well. Well done pal.
I totally agree with commenter John H1..
The main thing that I noticed is you maintain consistent professional demeanor in the face of what was obviously unnecessary rude Behavior on the part of the individual and you appropriately approach the solution to a bad situation by turning it around on the perpetrator.. who should be totally embarrassed by his amateur antics.
The owner and the captain of the boat should never condone such rude Behavior
And should dress down that crew member because as you say, each crew member is an ambassador for the boat itself and the owner, and they are actually legally responsible.. brilliant of you to put it all on video and Brilliant not to release it
Out of hand..
Well-done Esysman and steady on ...we love you man .. always have and always will.
I worked on the Ocean for years !!! All people are supposed to be nice to each other because the Sea is a natural wonder ... and One day on the Ocean, we all need to back each other up !!!
Very sophisticated E, the way you didn't play the fool's video tape ... !!!
Fantastic way to deal with a difficult person, showing that bad behaviour can and should be met with good behaviour. A lesson to us all
Your words of advice to that crew member is admirable. Always keep it classy and not trashy for sure.
Very well said. Pure is indeed a beauty. Thank you. Great video 👏🏼
A very classy way of handling this very uncomfortable situation.
Curious to know if he handles himself like that to other people in awe of these SYs and taking videos and what those outcomes have been.
Personally, me being me, I would have thrown gas on the spark out of curiosity. You did well.
Excellent video! I find a lot of people who are in positions of wealth, such as this guy who was aggressive towards you, are often arrogant because of money. They think money, or being in a position of power because of money, makes their mindset believe they are better or superior to you. Hence they treat other people poorly. I like the way you addressed this situation and the advice you gave him. Very professional.
The A-Hos' job is on the ship, not on the pier ! In the US the laws state there is no expectation of privacy in public places.
The best (and most civilized) way to promote proper behavior is by example, especially in direct response to even mildly negative treatment. Well done.
As always you are one classy dude. I appreciate your videos and the knowledge of the industry you share with us. Peace Out.
Lovely drone work following her out like that. Absolutely splendid shots. 7:38
At around the 7min mark MY Pure seems to be only running on the starboard main engine when leaving port which is not usual or particularly safe.
Perhaps they went on to both engines after 'standby' as a way of saving some fuel. Some planes, after landing, now go down to one engine when taxi-ing to the terminal.
Occasionally watch your vids, this just popped up, just wanted to say cudos for not posting your interaction, there are so many videos out there where people go out with the express purpose of garnering a reaction then posting it. Good on you for rising above this, and more importantly rising above the actions of said individual. Now subscribed!!
Well done 👍
The world would be a much better place to live if more people were like you. Way to go 😊
I agree, and can't really understand his fascinating with these symbols of greed and privilege.
That’s so true❤
He is 100% correct. You are an ambassador for your boat. I had a similar interaction with an MSC crew member. I was looking for the Oceania Insignia in Santorini. Dude was rude as hell until he noticed my anger in the way that I said "thanks a lot".
How dare he. I’m a you tube member and don’t normally give a a special Thanks/ Tip . You seem very shaken up and I’m pretty furious because you’re such a gentleman .
So I’m sending you first ever special THANKS and a big virtual hug ❤
Come one everyone, lets turn a negative into a positive.
Very professional the way you handled the bullying……..you also did offer the ship’s “officer “ some excellent advice.Let’s hope he is open to your suggestions! Thanks, Fair Winds Sir!⛵️
I think you nailed it. The guy was showing off. New owner, change of scene, chit-chat on the bridge this officers goes, "I'll sort him out, watch this".. I'm sure you know the samw word as me,, the fella was a tw4t. I've seen it before myself. Note to the clot who approached you: You are representing your owner. Think about it.
Very well done, mistakenly I took photos, a crew member came over and explained (very politely) the correct protocol. He was an absolute gentleman and wouldn't accept my apology. I agree, "there are ways". You were professional.
If the crew of the Pure are reading the comments, I can only assume that they were doing something illegal and didn't want anyone to see them doing it. I wonder if there were also people who weren't supposed to be on the ship (either willingly or not) who were photographed? Very suspicious.
Sadly having class is not a given. Except like this guy, but all low. What a difference from the chaps in Monaco who shuttled you around the harbor. Well done esysman as you always do, stay classy.
As a former international private yacht crew and captain, mostly of smaller sailing yachts, I appreciate you sharing the "bad eggs" as well as the good. Even more so when it's your own personal experiences.
That is a really Beautiful Yacht ... great Drone footage E !!!
Many other people may have handled him quite differently and sat him on his high and mighty ass . Well done for being calm and collected in a confrontation
Great work as always even when things get uncomfortable. No retaliation, none needed. I agree a little common courtesy goes along way. Great work
👏👏👏 for calling out the crew member.
Well done the way you talked about this hostile Person from the Ship 'Pure' . Very professional of you!
Beautiful Droneshots to! Have a great Stay in San Remo !
Thank you for the video. You handled the altercation in a professional manner.
You took the high road and we respect you for it.
Great video. A nice yacht with an interesting background. Thanks for this.
This channel continues to be one of my favorites. Even though i have no connection to or interest in yachting. Its very odd to me. But i’m just gonna go with it. 😊👍👍
Wow what a fantastic song by Timmy! He was such a good man, you were so blessed to find that lovw
Sorry I didn't type fast enough😂
BTW, if I ever own a yacht and I see you on the dock filming, I'll invite you to lunch on board to thank you for all the very interesting material you've published since I started watching. Well done!
great update again. what a nice piece of footage / music at 6:48. makes me want to be at sea again
Take the high road n be the better person . That crew member is probably already being watched by the captain. You're classy n a gentleman. Stay the course 👍🍻
I agree with your assessment. I have never encountered a crew member that wasn’t courteous and professional. Shame.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful video here..These beautiful yachts.
Respect your approach, that yatch will look amazing after remedial work.
Of course we ALL want to see that bit of film
Well done! You've always been classy and this is just more of the same. In my years in business, I've dealt with people who were just scraping by to keep their business afloat all the way up to Frank Purdue (the US chicken magnate) as well as various employees and functionaries. They tend to fall into three broad groups (and this is painting with a broad brush): Relatively neutral - friendly, but not warm friendly nor cold, just sort of there. The ego crowd who seem to think that their job and thus association with someone rich/powerful/who has celebrity status somehow makes them "more than" everyone else. And finally, those who are genuinely friendly, willing to engage and interact with you, and overall "be nice" and helpful. It's a shame you had an encounter with one of the ego crowd, and thanks for putting this online - perhaps they will see it and realize that it's a "learning moment" or that their employer will and have a little Come to Jesus talk about how their behavior tarnished the honor of the ship.
Quite right calling that guy out. As you said, had he been friendly, it would have made all the difference. And it was impossible to make out fcial features anyway, because as you said, you were shooting from a respectful distance. Hope he gets his "bum felt" when someone higher up the "Food Chain" sees your video!
The crew member from Pure, obviously knew you
In America one of the terms we have for people like this (and there are many) is this guy was a Total Toolbag. I'm certain that you handled yourself in a very courteous and professional manner. Keep up the good work Sir.
What about douche bag?
If anyone is a yacht crew's friend, it's you. It's worse when he knows who you are and approaches you like that. Good work!
You're a gentleman! That guy deserves to have the video of his interaction with you made public to the world.
If I was the owner I would be wanting to know who this crew member was so I could let them go.
if you were flying the drone all over the yacht, I'm not shocked they were annoyed. Looks like Italie's drone laws were broken as well.
E system, you have always been nothing short of being a class act all the time.
That was nicely handled. Keep that video in case he reaches out to you and escalates matters. Sunlight is the best disinfectant so if he acts up, just publish the video of your interaction with him. I’m sure his captain would not be pleased with his behavior
You are a class act sir. Well done, I really enjoy watching your channel.
Point well made. Inarticulate bullies just make a fool of themselves!
love your channel, thank you💖
Sorry you had to deal with someone acting like a jerk. Nice of you not to expose them not sure I would have been as nice as you were. Keep up the great work.
They haven't gone far, only up the coast to Genoa. (19:00 UTC on 9/7/23) Hope you are OK, very well handled. Great drone footage by the way.
Well handled Sir! You are a credit to the entire industry. It's too bad there are a few rotten apples in the same boat. Love the channel and your work. Keep up the great reporting on this hard to view industry.
unfortunately this kind of rot usually starts at the top, bad apples hire other bad apples, and so on. it's toxic
Excellent
I've not had one of your uploads pop up for a while. I'm subscribed, so why it's not popped up in the suggested list. Good to see you again!
It’s odd but it happens sometimes. You should hit the bell and you’ll get a notification when we post videos.
More great drone shots!
Beautiful job, especially the photography. The new owner should love to have the video.
Hi. I saw your channel for the 1st time today and subscribed for the way you dealt with the bell end without becoming angry yourself. The world is full of goats like that. I just stand and look at them.trying to curb my shocking
Temper. Well done mate now he is on his way far away!,
I love your reporting.
Professional as always and you don't normally show crew maybe from a distance he obviously has a small penius and takes it out on others well done you are a credit to the industry 👏
Thank you for your service sir! 🇺🇸👍
Thank you Sir.
He obviously doesn’t know anything about you or seen any videos. Since I’ve never seen you exposing any crew or passengers on a boat where you can actually see them clearly, or invading anyone’s privacy.
FINE Composition of that big girl leaving the Harbor , Thanks
People need to get over the fact that there is cameras everywhere these days.
Above all, BE SAFE, E! That’s what counts in the end. You’re so right about this aggressive man but always put your personal safety FIRST, PLS!
Some people like to assert themselves on others. You handled the child very well. 😊
As always an excellent video , very informative, I think the individual concerned will soon be looking for alternative employment if that is the type of attitude he has , well done for how your handled it
