Very interesting video as I'm about to start a Clarke instant garage within the next few weekends..
You show some great tips to make it stronger.. I think I will purchase a membrane for the floor. This will be used for a vintage tractor restoration so the wood floor is brilliant but not practical for the weight involved in my project. Maybe I'll settle for just some thin plywood to kneel on.
    Thanks for the tips 👍

I bought one of these tents.
I also bought another door for the other end, instead of the wall, to make a tunnel tent. 👍🏾

If you leave room ...... sitting out under the tent on a rainy summer evening with the flaps pinned back and a cool refreshing drink in your hand - marvellous! Great solution for a workshop, Matt, and the floor looked very easy to put together. Thanks for sharing

Hi There. Nice idea these temp garages.. 10ft is quite wide for most driveways. I noticed when you had the apprentice giving you a hand that there was some movement on the bottom of the leg sections. Wondering if it would be possible to pull those into a new build base say or 8 or 9 ft.. Any ideas Matt, help greatly appreciated. J..

There's something very calming about a large empty space...with just enough room for a workshop angel
Best of luck with the new space

I feel your pain with the price of sheet goods. I would think the floor will do 'for now' but 12mm board over 600mm joist centres will inevitably have some sag over time especially as it's outside with fluctuating humidity levels. Here is to hoping prices come down soon eh?

I use a solar light with a photocell in my workshop. I am fortunate to have a window that allows it to charge through the day, and it works great for me. So, the rule is, what works for you is good for you.
I’m looking forwards to seeing how the garage will morph in to a new Shepards hut 😃

Hadn't read the comments but to help a bit drive some stakes into the ground and attach to the floor for added security from the winds.

Great to see that you have a sensible workspace now. Doing projects in the house can be a pain. This looks like it will last a good while.

How are you going to make this secure for security? A Stanley blade will have this open in a few seconds?

  • @tonyworkswood

That floors brilliant Matt. It's a pitty you couldn't spray concrete on the walls and roof like they line tunnels with. That would really make a quick secure workshop build. Tony

I'm just in the process of building a second workshop (my wife believes it will be a Garden Room). I used 2.4 mtr lengths of timber but the frame ended up way out of square. After checking I found that each piece was a different length. Not sure about 12mm for the flooring, though - let me know if you have any problems with it, please

You know, before building my new workspace (that is now the second floor of my house) I thought about building something in the garden... But I didn't think of something like you did there! And I should've, because it would've been much cheaper. 😬

I like how you have problem solved your way into having a usable workshop space, I'm also impressed at how calmly you go about making massive changes to your life 🙂 By the way I would like to see what the outside looks like with your colour balance adjusted for inside that tent 😀 It actually gives a really good diffused light, perfect for videos, its like a giant softbox. I know that's exactly how you planned it ;-)

Looking good. One thing that bothers me is security....I would be wary of keeping my tools and workshop equipment in a tent....it only takes a scallywag with a Stanley knife to nick your kit, and as many home woodworkers and tradesmen can attest, there are a lot of those thieving types about.
