After two years of invasion, there is a urgent public health crisis in Ukraine - mental trauma and PTSD. Ukraine continues the battle to defend itself and the world remains in awe at the resilience of the Ukrainian people, but the country is well-aware of the issue. Our research, however, shows that they are under-equipped to deal with the seriousness of it. Soldiers are affected, but also civilians, who are bombarded constantly by missiles and drones. Domestic abuse cases are rising fast in Ukraine, so helping one person helps others.
We will design and build a Nordic-inspired, trauma-informed Therapy Garden in the heart of a Kyiv neighborhood, in order to firmly import this tried and tested concept to Ukraine. Through this pilot project and the resulting proof-of-concept, we hope to create a dialogue about how to tackle mental trauma - and to inspire other Ukrainian cities and towns to build their own.
Let's hope this pilot project will lead to more therapy gardens in Ukraine and everywhere else in the world that needs them. And THAT list is growing daily.

Please include herbs like rosemary. Scent is very powerful. It can transport people to a time when they weren't traumatized and makes them feel normal for a second or two.
