This UA-cam version is minus all the objectionable and unacceptable content. --In order to inspire a booming economy in the shooting sports, new products and the marketing of them are critical. Profits and successful continuation depend upon that marketing. Our guns and ammo that served us so well in the past must give way to new calibers, reloading components, ammo and guns that are the "latest and greatest". It's all OK, because we don't have to fall for any of it...but then again, do they know us better than we know ourselves - it's all about marketing....

I'm on the side of more choice is better when it comes to anything firearm related. When I see someone asking why you need this caliber or that caliber, I can't help but be reminded of gun-grabbers asking why you need an ar15.

6 mm ARC was designed for the AR15 rifle, which is a problem in Washington with big magazines, really nice round

I dont own a 6ARC, but the advantage of it is you can shoot virtually any 6mm bullet you want and in an AR-15 platform. Its kinda the ‘goldy locks’ varmint round for that reason.

I have no doubt that you will get it to shoot small groups. The soft recoiling 6MM ARC cartridge will be ideal to have your grandson learn to shoot his first centerfire rifle in a year or two.

As others have said, the primary reason for developing the 6mm ARC was for a cartridge that would maximize performance in the US military's main battle rifle based on the AR-15 platform. As such it also became a great alternate cartridge for non-military shooters. I bought into all the 6ARC hype, built my first AR-15 in 6ARC (I had other factory AR-15s), and decided to reload for the 6ARC cartridge that I could use as an accurate and fun to shoot cartridge in BOTH an AR gas gun and in a bolt gun. Bottom line for me is I'm a plumb happy camper ;-)

6mm PPC is pretty much the same thing. Already fits in an AR magazine, and it's been done before - Grendel magazine and bolt. The only real downside is that 6mm PPC ammo is nearly impossible to find. I think Norma made PPC ammo, I don't know if they still do.
.22 ARC is the newest thing, and is nearly the same as .22 PPC, and the granddaddy .220 Russian.

I still have a nearly new 22ppc Ruger No. 1 from about 30 years ago. But as you pointed out, there's little interest in the PPC cartridges today. For my newest varmint rifle, I am going to chamber it in 6mm ARC. Already purchased a Stiller single shot action.

The high BC sell isn’t much different than boat tails being “better” than flat base bullets. Flat base bullets stabilized faster than boat tails out to around 200 yards. Then boat tails start to take over in accuracy. High BC’s don’t start to be a factor until around 500 yards. All these new Creedmoor’s and PRC’s are not better than cartridges created 100 years+ ago out to around 500. Most of the older cartridges are a bit better performing under 500. But to very long ranges the Creedmoor’s and PRC’s will leave the Fudd ( :) ) cartridges in the dust. How useful is that? Depends on you and what kind of shooting and hunting you do. It’s all good. But don’t get sold. That marketing is definitely trying to sell you.

The 6 ARC has already run out of steam. very few makers are making AR rifles or uppers. The bolts are too weak and are failing. They have now started lowering the power of loading data for ARs.

Hey Steve. So Ya,, Marketing is about sales. Look at coffee, back in the late 60's people were brewing coffee over the stove or had a electric percolator of some brand. then, Mr. Coffee (was one of them) came out and automatic drip convenance that fit on every kitchen counter, put in a filter, dump the coffee in and fill the machine with water, in five minuets you had your coffee in your cup. But,, it didn't taste like percolated coffee, however people accepted it because it was less hassle and time to make. it also cost you more in coffee to make because to get the taste, it took more coffee. So what happened? coffee production and sales increased, fast forward to the mid 90's and people are pulling up to Starbucks drive through paying big money for a single cup of coffee that in reality is high heated percolated through steam to get the coffee flavor and tastes better than automatic drip, (you have to get the water hot enough to get the full flavor out of the beans)its considered boutique coffee. Look at all the different coffee shops out there, look at all the different roadside drive throughs for coffee on the go, look at all the different brands of Iced coffee and it's cozen the energy drinks, look at all the different brands of coffee, look at all the different flavors, look at all the different K-cup, Automatic drip and Expresso machines that are available for price's that range is as wide as the sky. The people who make coffee should say "Thanks" to a little machine called Mr. coffee. Btw, we need to get some coffee sometime, give me a call. peace - Dave

@@FranzAntonMesmer I agree, Just like the old over the stove percolators, if you experiment a little bit with brew times and coffee, a 20 dollar percolator will produce a brew of coffee as good or better than a 15000 dollar imported Italian expresso machine. and if spending the money on that machine makes a difference, it's not enough to make a difference that will be noticeable.

6mm arc was designed as a military cartridge. It was designed to fit in an ar platform for ease of swapping uppers and saving weight. It was designed to have an effective range similar to 308, 1000 yds+. And it was designed to be better on barriers on close range. All while fitting in an ar magazine. Sure you can do more in a longer action. But Hornady was up front with what it was designed to do, and all the tweaks they put in it. As a consumer you get to decide if you need what is being sold. In this case the only downside i have found is belted brass. So far its not effecting Hornady brass, but starline is having problems. Sent samples to starline, waiting on an answer.

      It’s funny.
Everybody acts like the 6.5 Creedmoor is this new whiz bang round because it has a funky name and a metric designation, they quote the bullet weight and velocity and all these specs…. but they ignored the .260 Remington for decades 😂
I’m going to release a new cartridge called the 7.62 Metric Magic Long Action, it’ll shoot a bullet weighing about 155gr at roughly 2700 feet per second out of a brass case about 60mm long.
I’m looking for investors to back this revolutionary new cartridge idea, you in? 😂

In 1990 I purchased a pickup truck. Back then a pickup truck was significantly less than a car. I was a young Airman with a bride looking.
The salesman was helpful. We were looking at the plane Jane model. He explained that there was an upgrade where you got a hydraulic clutch, head liner, carpet interior, fabric bench seat, sliding rear window, antilock brakes, and intermittent wipers. He then pointed out my bride could probably not drive the standard clutch. It was more $$$ but the value was worth it. So he sold us the upgrade on a basic truck.
He was right… She liked driving the truck with the rear window AC. She could see further in a truck than a car. The salesman knew what he was selling and helped us.

In spite all the hype and marketing and videos, somehow I've loved classic rifles, classic cartridges, even near obsolete stuff. I even like watching a channel where a guy experiments making black powder with tons of common carbon sources, and testing it in a flintlock.
Speaking of marketing, there's a bunch of video channels who are essentially marketing high-BC bullets by crunching numbers way beyond the shooting range of 95% of shooters' abilities who are watching them.
