Thanks bro. For all you others..this is real. 300 miles left to get home; my veloster "limped out" I saw this video and knew that going limp has a solution. It may be temporary but all i needed was a quick fix to get me home.
Will! My oldest boys Jeep just went into limp mode so I looked up some videos and I stumbled upon yours! I'm gonna tell him to give this a shot. I hope yall are doing well.
Skip to 1:25 . All you do is disconnect the. Battery for 5-10 min it will reset . My Scion xD has gone into limp mode 3 times once every 3 years . It happens after a down pour rain . We got 3 inches of rain in an hiur last night and sure enough I was in limo mode this morning . The first time I was under warranty I limped it to the shop and they had it for 24 hiurs and said it was fine when get started it to work on it the next day . So if you just had heavy rain and don’t need the car park it a day and let the car and system dry out . They charged $125 I had a $100 deductible . It is scary when it happens . You start thinking of repair bills .
2015 Chevy sonic had limp mode 1st time ever [220,000+ miles] and was about to call a tow.. Happened to see your video, had pliers, and it worked. So thanks for the vid! I also think it was a weird 1 time computer trip up thing, but of course i will keep an eye on it. Thanks again!!
If your car goes into limp mode what else you can do is also leave the car in neutral/park in Your yard And Rev it for around 15 minutes it should clean out your dpf filter
Ramiro Martinez It worked for me, I put the foot down on the accelerator for 15 minutes and left it running for 40 minutes just in my driveway,It’s worth a try, it’s worked for a few of my friends but one of my other friends it didn’t work and they had to remove there dpf and egr valve. I’d say try it as it doesn’t do any harm, only thing is make sure the engine is warmed up before revving it
Ty for putting up this vid my audi went into limp mode didnt know what to do €€€€€€ thats what i thought so i found ur vid on UA-cam and did what u said and my car is 100% now thanks t you ty
Thanks for the video it does not hurt to remind people of this way of resetting, it is easy to forget this way out of a problem, or indeed those that do not know. As all of these systems are man-made then glitches with programs do happen and hardware problems occur more than is admitted, which is why there are recalls and replacements. There are many instances on record that the problem may never reappear unless the same set of circumstances happen which could be infinite combinations. It is always better to check to see if there are any faults thrown up, check levels etc. If not you can run into thousands of £ $ trying to track an elusive problem that may never resurface. The easiest way of showing disapproval is to hit the dislike or like if you do like. Try to keep UA-cam civil as a learning and educational platform with plenty of Amusement mixed in.
If your car is actually throwing a code it's not going to go away. You can reset your ECU as many times as you want but the problem will most likely come back.
Heyy yeah you can disconnect i repeat disconnect the negative and the positive and touch the wmteo terminal disconnected together for 2 minutes if you want connect everything back on codes should be past codes now
I got a bmw e70 4.8L v8 x5 my problem is similar to yours but my vehicle is starting and but when I select gears the brakes go from hard to soft and then the gear locks back to park and the emergency brake switches on automatically prevents me from moving the vehicle and my dash is also throwing all fault codes like yours any solution????
I'm sure your so busy that the extra few minutes you lost watching this video changed the course of human history. The guy puts a video up here to try and help people out and you have to be an ass. Go see if your mother's done making your sandwich. ANUS!
Thank you mate!! I own a 1994 pre facelift e38 740i and I had an issue where in third gear it would aggressively try get into gear then I get the error code (transmission failsafe program) then it would go into limp mode. Turning the car on and off would get rid off but kept occurring. I did this method and I’m surprised it actually worked!!! Thanks a lot man!!
This might work but it will probably only be a temporary solution if the ECU is throwing codes and you don't address the problem. The problem will eventually come back when the ECU detects a fault code again and it will.
Well my car car hasn't gone into limp mode but that damn traction control light has been on for awhile and I just took it to the machinic and they told me it was stuck in V8 mode and needed to be repaired at sum point....they were gonna charge me and ungodly amount to repair soooooo definitely gonna give this a try tommorow.
Hey dude awesome video would just like to ask you or anyone who could tell me thr issue but i have a peageot 308 sw 1.6hdi ye and when its hot and going over 3000rpm it goes into limp mode but when we switch off the car and turn it back on limp mode is gone and we would also see on a obd2 sensor when its in limp mode it says underboost condition but ye could anyone tell me if its a sensor if so would ya know which sensor it is so i could fix it :)
Yeah I think that happened to me when I was on the parkway this morning I have a 2004 BMW 325i with 180 thousand miles, I just changed the 02 sencer yesterday 4-6 cylinders,, it was changing gears fine, all I was doing was getting into the middle lane and all of a sudden I think it went into limp mode just lost Power just like that I pulled over turn the car off waited 2 minutes turn to back on and a drove fine, but I'm gonna Disconnect the negative terminal today just 2 reset the ecu
did this method today and realized that for easy problems and computer faults, the mechanics could scam you big time, if things aren-t so fishy, just disconnect the battery for a while and the problem could be solved.
97 % the Issue will return ! and With a vengeance Do yourself a Favor ,,Go see a Good Known Mechanic/ Tech and they will Scan it for Free and tell you what is what ,,
Im going crazy.. I have an 07 e90 an the serpentine belt broke so i replaced it an since then the car went crazy. It stalled an wont start but turns over. An sounds like a whine. Any ideas ??
Either the belt is not on properly in some way. Did you replace the tensioner as well? Or is it possible when the old belt broke part of it went into the engine? That tends to happen.
No, No, and No, there is always a reason, when that happens, find out, the code, and fix a reason, many times wire connection, on left side of driver site, under carpet, clean it out ...GM problem, or throttle body, don't need a new one, fix the old one and clean it!!! No problems ever...goes away just unplugging battery, you need to fix it!!!

this is stupid! by reseting the ECU you are not resolving shit! The ECU will start relearning all over until the same problem comes back and ECu will put the in Limp mode. If the ECU puts the engine in limp mode is because something is broken , going bad, etc
I have a 2008 cadillac cts 118k miles, I believe it went into limp mode while I was driving I braked and parked on side of the road the car wouldn't turn on when I tried it to anyways ended up taking uber to work and today this afternoon I will have to go check up on it its only 5 blocks away from my home.. what should I do?? Yeah if it’s just the computer glitching this little trick can do it.

Generally this is true, somehow I got lucky and it went away. I believe I had dirt in a sensor that finally came out!
I hope this is my problem. My car went into limp mode and it’s reading a code p1326 which is saying I need a new knock sensor
Then you need to replace the sensor, the code will just keep coming back and your car will go back into limp mode until you do.

How long was your car ok after this?
It’s actually still good. Although now I have a tpms light says rear drivers tire is flat (it obviously isn’t).
20 minutes
thank you bro ,, x
Limp mode is like a practical joke. Useful hint. why not
I thought it was going to be the throttle body having gunk in it and making the sensor spazz out
Tbh I never figured out the underlying cause because it only did this once more. In 40,000 miles of driving since it has never replicated the problem.
Im going crazy.. I have an 07 e90 an the serpentine belt broke so i replaced it an since then the car went crazy. It stalled an wont start but turns over. An sounds like a whine. Any ideas ??

Sounds like you jumped timing
Once in my 850 the serpentine belt broke and it took at the timing belt too.
