There was a band playing the Detroit club scene a few years back (can't remember their name, unfortunately) that featured a polyphonic lead singer. Imagine a metal band where the lead singer can provide his own backing harmony vocals! Unlike this lady, he was singing words, not just tones. Very eerie, but cool.

It has the kind of ethereal sound that gives me eerie vibes most associated with Halloween, so now is a great time of year for you to introduce us to this song you have been sitting on. I look forward to discovering the other surprises you may have for us.

@rosalieelliottofficial I really love your channel, and you. I first saw you when you reacted to “Hi Ren”, and believe it or not, you were actually the first reactor I had EVER watched.
This is going to sound corny, but somehow I felt like we connected through your Hi Ren reaction because I personally reacted to it in the EXACT same way you did.
I’ve often reflected on that and felt grateful that I was able to watch it in the privacy of my own home and really take it in. You’re very brave to share yourself and your emotions with the world the way you do. Your comment about really immersing yourself in the art and allowing yourself to be present in that moment with the artist made me think of all of this.
Thanks for being you. You’re a beautiful, warm and engaging human being.❤

Thank you very much, Julie!! I’m so glad to hear this. And no, it doesn’t sound corny at all. If it is, then I’m super corny, because I feel connected to several of you here in this community and just wish we could hang out in person. Personally I think it shows you have a big heart :) I’m glad you’re here. It’s what makes this channel special. The people. ❤️

Buy that singer a steak dinner ! Just for that look on your face. Mindboggling isn't it. I can hum and whistle at the same time and it turns peoples heads. She has perfected her skill though.

I was in workshops of 300 and learned enough to figure it out 34 years ago. Next festival, none of the others had realized how amazing the technique of overtone singing is. It is mastery of human sound so it is older than spoken language. The voice is a musical instrument that everyone should learn. If you can't sing, you just haven't learned how to play the instrument. To be a great singer and to produce these techniques one has to be able to be loud. Here is my latest video on how to make your voice and overtone loud ua-cam.com/video/eGbOvgqE8KA/v-deo.htmlsi=L5NPXKDOIFrTurcF and here is a very old lesson on what I called Harmonic singing. ua-cam.com/video/cbeYVAlRZfg/v-deo.htmlsi=t_IIIhAitjUkZgbp I run a performance called Spontaneous Choir

Rosalie you stated quite clearly the ability to listen has been lost for many people but not everyone. It just requires time and patience two things we all want but have a hard time keeping.

I did watch few of her video after I listen to Diana Ankudinova to understand better, that lady is incredible. I don't Diana is working much on that aspect of her voice for now, it's more used in classic and as Diana is not going that way for now... Hope she'll keep working thst aspect as well. Thank for your reaction :-)

Another singer that I have seen apply this technique, ONCE, is Alisa Supronova, at 1:48s in this: ua-cam.com/video/8hrduEg47rA/v-deo.html Mongolian throat singing does use it a lot also. Diana Ankudinova seems to emit overtones and undertones naturally without training, so in her case she probably has specific vocal anatomy, as well as being a fullblown dramatic contralto so she does it over a huge vocal range. Who knows what it would sound like if she actually trained to do this, although what she does naturally, to my ears, is even more impressive than training technical polyphony. But that's just a layman's opinion of course. Cheers Rosalie!

Hey, I just found your channel and happily binge watching it!
I got 3 different artists for you if you don't mind, from 3 different countries, they are all really good singers and lyricists, discussing deep themes.
Marina (and the diamonds) from Greece but she is UK based, she has many songs with lots of layers and depth to them, but I think 'Savages' could bring a good healthy political discussion which your channel also encompasses! Also her voice very interesting with the highs and lows, I think you'll find it fun!
Noah Cyrus (USA): that's right, Miley Cyrus' little sister. But oh boy, her lyrics are... existential crisis in chords. 'Lonely' for a more personal take on depression and loneliness and 'The End of Everything' for more existential dread with a rather... wholesome tune? Seriously, this girl doesn't get half the credit she deserves. Her recent songs are clearly an attempt to break in the industry though, her older ones are more soulful.
Florence and the Machine: she is Welsh and her voice and lyricism are... just something else. Mind blowing. I guarantee you won't regret listening to her. Even if you don't make a video, girl, go give a listen! I don't even know which song to recommend, but it doesn't matter, any one you pick will be filled with psychology, symbolism and amazing music. And I mean real, raw, professional, music. She has Marfan's Syndrome (but she only started to talk about it recently), ADHD, anxiety, she had a drinking problem but she is sober now and she looks like fairy. I think the best one to get to know her is "Free", from her most recent album.
Bonus: Alike Milova, Bridges. She is from Estonia. Won't spoil it. Just go in blind.
