So to try and clarify it, Angela and Peter were siblings. John was their father. Angela and John were killed in the accident. Peter was then raised by his loony aunt who decided to raise him as Angela. The film isn't trying to imply anything homophobic. I think the wiki page worded it wrong. The "mental effect" on Peter, in terms of his father is Just that he was clearly very young and it was never put into perspective for him. If it wasn't for the boating accident, he would've Just come to understand it as he grew up.. but then he was forcibly raised as a girl, by his aunt and it's pretty obvious why that had an effect on him and it probably magnified the confusion about his father, not being able to gain a proper understanding about it.
but i'm glad that she didn't murder Aunt Martha. is it weird that i find her attractive? like..... sexually? isn't that nice of me, hmmmm? goodness, no. i'm afraid that wouldn't do at all.
Peter seeing his dad with another man is only a small part of the picture. The siblings are seen together afterward, seemingly questioning the nature of their own gender. The seed of adolescent confusion is planted here. After the accident, peter is seen with head trauma, and the aunt is shown to be mentally unstable, forcing him to live as Angela. The movie isn't saying gay and trans bad. It's just showing a pubescent kid, troubled by his past and abused by his caretaker, being thrust into living among a bunch of teen girls who bully him and boys that pick on him. Angela/Peter is essentially experiencing the worst from his peers and guardians while wrestling with a forced identity at the most hormonal point in his life. And thats all it is. He killed because his life circumstances left him mentally scarred and confused.
Trans is bad.. that’s the point. All people are pushed into it, it’s not real.. there was over 80% success rate until they stopped psychiatrists from helping and forced “diversity” into the profession to enable the propaganda..
the aunt forced angela to live as a girl, and repress his masculine instincts. imagine bottling up all the hormonal rage you feel as a teenage man, this is what caused angela to snap and murder.
His sister and father both died Had head injury His aunt forced him to turn into a girl, and of course, she named him after his dead sister And yes, his dad and uncle (ricky's dad) secret gay affair 😂 Messed him up real bad........
Some horror comedy recs - Blades (1989), Club Dread, pretty much anything by Lloyd Kaufman/Troma (Maniac Cop, Toxic Avenger, Class of Nukem High, etc).
you have to remember the 80;s was a different time, she saw her father with nother man, then her aunt messed her up, and it caused a great confusion, i think thats what was meant. the 2nd is more campy funny than the first
why the eyeroll. a child suffering a traumatic sight father and brother dying in front of them, the head wound which meant a physical injury on top of the psychological injuries, add to that an insane aunt that addeds a confusion. @@wesdalton7369
@@murph8837 no it was, just not quite the same level. That one you didn’t know who the killer was. The sequels you know from the start and they just have fun with it haha.
The movie industry used to mandate credits at the beginning until Star Wars broke it. The director or producers asked themselves, how much is the fine if we don't use credits? Why don't we just pay the fine and forgo the credits and it worked. So, obviously an indie film like this couldn't afford the privilege of just paying the fine.
The camp owner didn't ask for a Diagnosis, he asked ,"What's the Prognosis?" Which pretty much means, he wants to know how bad the injury is and how long till he's better.
the cop with the moustache, he actually got another job after filming and had to shave it off, but they had to call him back for a few shoots so thats why the really fake moustache

She appears in the later sequels as an adult and the actress who plays Angela makes cameos in tons of Horror movies....she's always a regular guest on Joe Bob Briggs Drive-Inn on SHUDDER. She's easy to spot due to she looks exactly the same but older looking.
There implying that at that point in time Homosexuality was not looked at and accepted as normal as it is now and it scarred him because he didnt understand nor accept that so it drove him mad. It was 1981 whixh yes way WAY ahead of its time.
The flashback is of Peter and Angela seeing their father in a relationship with another man. For whatever reason it says that this affected Peter’s mental state. If I had to guess it had something to do with blurring their identity and seeing that peter’s dad was having an affair with a family friend With that set plus the trauma and head injury from the accident, then all the mental grooming by the aunt completely fked Angela’s (Peter) psyche and self identity. All in all the movie is pretty mid but is very fun to speculate the ins and outs of a character like Angela
Here’s a classic horror thriller that you will love love love. Warlock. There’s a few movies of the same name, make sure you watch the 1989 one. Cheers girl.
I think Most of us sided with Angela. especially those of us who were bullied, and yes the black man was the father of darth vader you can tell with this voice, Susie and Muscles, are the only nice people, but muscles he led angela to artie. so.. thats minus points, i saw it as meg didnt want to get into more trouble, so she made up to her boss, the young kids were the ones throwing sand at angela
They are trying to say that homosexuals are sick. Its an old movie, we didn't have gay people then or we had them but they were afraid to make themselves known. I would assume being forced to be a little girl when you are a little boy is much more mentally damaging. Its very campy and very much of its time. Also all large kid gatherings to me are just a way of getting killed, that's how I felt in school. In fact I had to go to a summer camp which was awful, boring and hot. :-) No deaths tho.
I would love to see a reaction to the (1979) movie The Jerk starring Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters and please comment on how Dirty Navin is when both his family and his wife Marie find him please.
For sure continue on with parts 2 and 3 of Sleep Away Camp then stop there' I have never bothered watching the other ones because of how bad I heard they where. As others have recommend you should add The Burning to your list as well and I hope we get to see at least one or two more Friday The 13th sequels before the summer is out.
Am I the only one who's a little creeped out about the fact that the counselor who got boiled alive looks like the director of the Jeepers Creepers trilogy, who also happens to be a p***phile?
I think the summary makes it more about the dad than it should do. I'd say a better reading would be forcing someone to present in a way that conflicts with who they are would have ramifications on that person. Living as a girl and people seeing you as one when the only person you've shown any interest in is a boy who constantly violates your boundaries in ways that'll make your secret known is a lot.
That's more of the reading I took from the movie. The psychological damage of being forced to present as a different gender, especially in a time of repression and ridicule, is plenty.
I knew the twist ending before I ever saw the film, but I was still pretty impressed by how much I enjoyed the film.. I went in with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised..
Yeah man all I could remember about the film was that it had a pretty crazy twist in it but that was it. I can tell you when I started to speculate the theory thou. When we got the flashback of the father I was starting to think that Angela could of had a spoilt personality mimicking the other twin or possibly that it was Peter that developed the personality to cope with the death of his sister.
i’d highly suggest Sleepaway Camp2&3 (Sleepaway Camp The Survivor was a tax shelter that was pretty much a soft core adult film with footage from previous films spliced into it pure garbage (Return to Sleepaway Camp is equally as bad Robert Hiltzik probably owed a booky a nice chunk of change and use the “film” as a ponzi scheme…. Avoid everything after Sleepaway Camp III Teenage Wasteland…. Another summer horror film worth looking into is Madman
Angela was being groomed as a girl, but still had her "boy parts", so any "hanky panky" would reveal Angela's little "Present" and that "Simply wouldn't do... no, it wouldn't, would it?". And the accident DID leave Angela with Brain Damage (Remember the Head Bandage). The Crazy Aunt was the major factor here... Had she let Angela remain as Peter, Things would've been alright. This is a good cautionary movie for Parents grooming their kids Genders.
And just so you know- even though you’re not gay, you can get offended when anyone tries to put any hate on anyone in the lgbtq community. It’s what being an ally is all about.
The acting in this movie was _SOOO_ bad, it actually made it good. It was fun to watch. That woman at the beginning was hilarious. It reinforces my belief that anyone who wears a beret, is a little _off_ (in this case, _waaaay_ off). I've been binge-watching your vids, b/c I just recently discovered your channel. The Terrifier reaction is my favorite. You, hiding behind your stuffed animals, was _SO_ adorable. You are _TOO_ cute.

Why are people still using the word "homophobic"? Phobic phobia means "afraid of or in fear of" nobody is afraid of gay people just saying
😱
Sleepaway Camp is some good 80's slasher fun. I really can't fault Angela. Bullies and creeps deserve what they get.
but i'm glad that she didn't murder Aunt Martha. is it weird that i find her attractive? like..... sexually?

tl;dr -- traumatized boy with gay dad & insane aunt is forced to live as a girl & becomes a psycho killer.
Trans is bad.. that’s the point. All people are pushed into it, it’s not real.. there was over 80% success rate until they stopped psychiatrists from helping and forced “diversity” into the profession to enable the propaganda..
The guy that was with the dad is aunt martha's husband, ricky's dad 😂😂😂 the whole family is insane
I’ve actually met Felissa and she’s really nice
Peter is the one who lived. The aunt brought him up as a girl!
the aunt forced angela to live as a girl, and repress his masculine instincts. imagine bottling up all the hormonal rage you feel as a teenage man, this is what caused angela to snap and murder.
When the boiling water fell on the Perry cook the phrase scolded to near death came to mind
as the crazy aunt says at the beginning: "No, that won't do at all!" LOL
the burning a good camp film from back in the day too
There are actually 4 movies of this. the 4th one was finished in 2003 but wasn’t released until 2008
Yes, the side-ponytail was a thing back then; you can blame Chrissy from Three's Company 😅
40 years since this cult classic
True classic
Sleepaway Camp is so interesting to watch.
Hi omg I think I'm 1st. Omg this movie was freaking trippy.
As the cook is laying on the floor there burning, he hears a voice, “From this point on you shall be known as Darth Creepyus”.
The people were mean to Angela even the little kids! That's why they died
uh..... ok. thanks for reminding me not to throw water balloons at you. or sand. please don't murder me.
I think what actually messed "Angela" up might have been being forced to live as a girl, rather than the gay hug. Idk wtf wrote that shit.
His sister and father both died
Had head injury
His aunt forced him to turn into a girl, and of course, she named him after his dead sister
And yes, his dad and uncle (ricky's dad) secret gay affair 😂
Messed him up real bad........
You should watch part 2. That one is definitely a great sequel.
Watch "The Burning" from 1981. Another great Summer camp horror film with great FX by the legendary Tom Savini!
Some horror comedy recs - Blades (1989), Club Dread, pretty much anything by Lloyd Kaufman/Troma (Maniac Cop, Toxic Avenger, Class of Nukem High, etc).
The movie was ahead of its time. The ending basically says : "don't mess with your kid's gender".
I was going to suggest the burning also. Great film! ❤

love this film
You should definitely watch the sequels. They go camp and they’re more horror comedy but they’re amazing. ESPECIALLY if you side with Angela.
Are you suggesting that the first wasn't camp and horror comedy?
@@murph8837 no it was, just not quite the same level. That one you didn’t know who the killer was. The sequels you know from the start and they just have fun with it haha.

Judy's death is the reason that Jane Krakowski didn't end up being the one playing Judy.

There's 3 Sleep Away Camps and a Camp Blood movie series
you have one of the best intros
The most effed-up ending EVER.

Saw this when I was like 14, love it.
I saw this sequel first and I liked it. They recasted the lead with Bruce Springstein's sister.
This was such a weird movie
Felissa Rose who plays Angela is insanely hot and very sweet to her fans . She signs autographs and usually chats with her fans for quite a while.
WAS hot. WAS.
