    Gremlins were a folk creature among WW2 soldiers in the Pacific. During that time, planes and equipment would fail for no reason so pilots would blame it on "gremlins".

      @Nick_CF Рік тому +2

      also the twilight zone episode popularized them too or for me it was this movie and the treehouse of horror episode

      I don't think it was just in the Pacific, the British pilots fighting in Europe also blamed Gremlins.

    • @chrisbell9075
      @chrisbell9075 Рік тому +2

      Yup, so that's why Mr. Fudderman kept talking about "gremlins". He didn't know what they looked like or that they technically really exsisted, but he had always blamed any electronic/vehicle problems on "gremlins" ever since he was in the military. There was a Bugs Bunny cartoon I think that is featured in, I want to say "E.T. the Extraterrestrial" that deals with gremlins from WW2 If I'm not mistaken. Tales of them go back decades..

    1. Keep them out of the light. They hate bright lights, especially sunlight.
    2. Keep them away from water. They multiply when they get wet.
    3. Don't feed them after midnight or they will turn into gremlins.

    Gizmo is too cute! Very much the same formula as Baby Yoda. Big eyes, big ears, cute noises, and little hands doing people stuff.
    He's just as cute in the sequel, the baddies are just as fun and gross, and you might even get a kick out of some of the wild cameos in Gremlins 2 (not a holiday picture, so watch whenever).

    The _Gremlins_ movies were personal favorites growing up, so it's always fun to see someone react to them for the first time. This was a really fun video!
    I'd definitely recommend checking out _Gremlins 2_ if it's not on your radar already. It's basically both a sequel to and a parody of the original. The director felt that the first movie was perfect as-is and didn't need a sequel, but he agreed to make it after the gave him complete creative control. So he decided to make it into a weird, self-aware meta-comedy. So it's basically just wall-to-wall gags, references, inside jokes and fourth-wall-breaking. I'd argue it's just as good as the original, but in its own, anarchic way.

    • @johnpaullogan1365
      @johnpaullogan1365 5 місяців тому

      i seem to remember it mostly as what you get if you took the original's bar scene and extended it to take up most of the movie.

    Gizmo dolls were somewhat popular at the time. Of course, you didn't want your dog near it because there was a squeaker in it.
    And by the way there is a sequel made about a decade later called Gremlins 2: the New Batch. They lean more into the comedy element and we learn the hero Gizmo idolizes.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS ⛄🎄❄️🧑‍🎄🌨️
    The original screenplay was a lot darker than the movie itself:
    The gremlins were going to decapitate Billy's mom and throw her severed head down the stairs.
    The Gremlins were also going to kill the family dog by electrocution.
    The Gremlins were even going to attack a McDonald's restaurant, but instead of eating the hamburgers, they were going to kill and eat the customers.
    The climax was going to have Gizmo turn into a gremlin in order to defeat Stripe, but Spielberg didn't like this ending and wanted Gizmo to be a the hero.

    • @madzec
      @madzec Рік тому +2

    I also forgot to mention a fun fact: The appearance of reporter Lew Landers means both Gremlins movies take place in the same universe as The Howling. Lew Landers also appears in The Howling as a coworker to Karen from The Howling. Apparently, Gremlins and werewolves exist together.

It's got that certain Christmas charm that's perfect for the holiday. It's a perfect way to celebrate the Christmas season. I think Ernest Saves Christmas is one of the best Christmas movies alongside the Muppet Christmas Carol, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, and this one. I highly recommend checking out Ernest Saves Christmas.

    Warner Bros. only got the rights to show Snow White because Disney was still in their "dark age"... maybe the lowest point of the company since Walt died... and also because Spielberg produced this and he was fresh off the E.T. and Raiders hype trains... so he could get pretty much what he wanted. The last big Disney and WB crossover was Who Framed Roger Rabbit... and that's also because of Spielberg. This will *never* happen again unless Disney buys WB/HBO.. which, honestly, at this point might happen.
