This was so helpfulll, I'm starting at Uni of York in September and I already love your channel so I'm glad you made a video like this! Hope you're doing well :)
thank you for this faye! hope we bump into eachother in the new year so i can thank you properly. your videos have been really helpful for me, especially since im moving from so far x
Hey just seen this question! Yeah you’re right it’s not really known yet think it’s still being built! If you have anymore questions let me know or check out my latest q&a :) ua-cam.com/video/W5eyCMIqmVg/v-deo.html
This was really helpful so thanks alot! I'm applying for accommodation which is mostly on East campus as I am hopefully coming to York in September- was wondering how active and social East is as it is sometimes compared to West and it isn't seen as more social. Is this true or does it just depend on the people?? Thanks!!
Glad it was helpful! Obviously it is a bit out of the way of people on west but there’s still parties and everyone still goes out. But yes would also depend on the people! Hopefully they’ll be people in your flat that like to go out and be as social as you, which I’m sure is the case.
Hi, your videos have been really helpful. My main lecture hall is at spring lane building on campus west. Ideally, I would prefer to be in a college at campus west to make it to my lectures on time. But how far apart is it really from campus west to campus east because I prefer the campus west accomodations.
I’m from Mexico, I want to study there but I’m so nervous because I think it’s gonna be so difficult for me to understand the classes and I really don’t know how does the admission is and the portafolio. In two years I’m gonna enter to the university, what things do u recommend me to do? Love uuuuuu :3
M Gav hey! Really well. One of my best friends is from Spain, I think everyone I’ve met are very inclusive and so don’t care where anybody is from! I’m sure that’ll be the same for you. Best of luck :)
@@fayesingleton hey, I'm moving from Spain to York too! Have you noticed if there is a decent amount of Spanish people? And would biomed be difficult for someone that doesn't know all the terms in english? Thanks in advance!
I'm starting at York next year and have applied to Alcuin as my first choice. Would you say it fits its reputation of being boring because that would change my preference? I'd then have Vanbourgh as my first choice.
hi, id probably say alcuin is more quiet just because its more out of the way from the main campus colleges, but the nightlife and stuff more depends on the people in your flat and if they go out a lot!
Tegan Brooks aw so glad you’ve found it helpful! Tbh I really don’t think it matters because in your flat will be a variety of people anyway because not everyone gets their first choice. But from stereotypes I think derwent are known for more partying like crazy nights and stuff but I don’t even think any colleges aren’t extremely social. Possibly alcuin known as the quieter one.. but I know people there that go out more than me aswell so yeah I’d say the colleges don’t affect your nightlife :)
I go to Derwent and the social life is definitely big and known for good and big socials every term. We turn the college bar into a club for events every term too! Then least I’d say Alcuin / goodricke and Vanbrugh. Hope this helps x
Charlotte Heptinstall hey! I think on Facebook people put on the freshers page your flat and block and then you get added to a group chat or you can make the group chat and find people :) xx
Hiya! I'm hoping to attend York this year and I've been searching everywhere for an answer to these moderately insignificant questions so here goes: 1. How much is it to wash a load of clothes? 2. Did you have messy housemates and, if so, how did you go about asking them to stop? 3. What is your opinion on the different colleges, like the 'reputation' of each (e.g quiet/boring, party goers, etc) 4. Does a cleaner actually come once a week or is that a lie lol 5. Did you have a wet room as a shower or an actual glass shower and is there any way I can go about ensuring that I have an actual glass shower? Okay, thanks. Please reply! Or, better yet, make a video on the less significant things that we should know, for example I watched a Dylan (Student Vlogs) video and he said something about the cleaners not cleaning unless there was nothing on the outside counters? Was this the case? Thank youuuuuuu!
Hiya, ive just completed my first year at york! 1. the washing is quite expensive, to wash and dry one load is about £5. 2. Some of our flatmates were messy in the kitchen but we just put messages on the flat group chat. 3. some colleges do have a bit of a reputation, but it doesnt really represent the whole vibe of the college, like i was in vanbrugh which has the "reputation" of the music college but the sport is also very good in vanbrugh. 4. our cleaner seemed to be in the flat all the time, she was always there, very friendly and kept the place very tidy. 5. i was in shared bathroom and it was just a shower cubicle type thing, that was the thing i was worrying about most but honestly a shared bathroom was totally fine, they got cleaned every week.
Olivia Smith thank you so much!! i really appreciate it! i didn’t think i would hear back from anyone so i really do appreciate the help. good luck with your future years of study at York and i might see you there!
I’m staring Biology at York in September. I was wondering what sort of stereotype is associated with each college and what the lectures are like in first year (in terms of size and how the content compares to A level)?
How did you find having a boyfriend at home. I’m planning on coming to uni next year and my boyfriend is going to study in London, how difficult is it?
^0_o^ hey, I know quite a few people with this situation. It is difficult but it does get easier with time and planning dates of when you can next see each other so you have something to look forward to / count down the days really helps. Keep yourself busy and communicate with him and it’s definitely worth sticking it out of you think they’re the one!
Great experience, but truthfully, unless you do a degree that you 100% need for what you want to do, don't bother, it will be a waste of time and money.

Maisie Relph It would be Vanbrugh college . I was staying in James college 😊👍🏻
How many are there in a flat?
Thinking of applying to Vanbourgh college for 2021, what's the reputation like of this college?! x
Maisie xoxo aw great! Stereotypically more sporty like party ish I’d say x
A great Video very mice and cool i wish you all the Best ☀👍☺😃
Do u do freshers week within ur college? what kind of events were there? :) x
ami. Yes! You go out with your flat mostly unless your STYCS merge flats. And it’s club nights like different themes: Hawaiian, neon etc x
Also day time stuff like fairs and talks :)
Are you a part of a college if you don’t live in one? I’m going to be a post grad student and I chose not to live on campus
