hi that’s so nice to hear!!! i’m starting my history degree in a couple weeks n have a lot of mental health issues so hearing that york and the hist dept in general is supportive is such a relief :))
This is perfect timing! I'm looking at York uni for 2022, do you think it's hard at Uni if you don't drink? I'm taking lots of tablets for a previous cancer and I'm not meant to drink alcohol on them, do you think I'll be judged for not drinking? Thank you
Hey! I am at York at the moment and I don't drink! I would say as long as your are comfortable that people will ask if you want to drink and you have to say no then it is totally fine, all of my friends are super respectful of me even though they all drink and I don't. They even get out the soft drinks specifically for me :) I always still get invited to things, even to bars or when the event is only to go out drinking because I just say to people I love being around you all so please still let me know when you're going! and then it is kinda just my thing to order a j20 hehe. There's also a society for people that don't drink if you are worried about making friends bc you don't drink :)
Hi, your videos have been really helpful. My main lecture hall is at the spring lane building on campus west. Ideally, I would prefer to be in a college at campus west to make it to my lectures on time. But how far apart is it really from campus west to campus east because I prefer the campus eastaccommodations.
Hey, so glad you’ve found them helpful! Honestly it’s not too much hassle at all. I studied on west and lived on campus east so I made that journey most days. It’s about a 5 minute bus ride and there’s always a bus and it stops at campus west right by spring lane. Or you can walk it in about 20 mins
Hey Faye, in September I'm gonna be solely based on East campus cause my building and college (TFTI + Langwith), am I going to miss out by not being on West as much??? Thanks!! x
Are there a lot of 2nd and 3rd year students that still live on campus? I'm going to York in September with the ERAMUS programm and in France I will technically be in my third year of Uni, I have to decide soon where I'm going to live and I was wondering if most of 2nd and 3rd years live in Houses in the city or if there are still a lot of them that live on campus
It’s definitely first year heavy on campus however I do know that there are many students in 2nd and 3rd years that live on campus too. I wonder if it’s worth contacting the uni about this questions and seeing what they suggest for you!
I’m waiting for my grades and I’ve applied for CS with AI at the uni of York for this sept Will I get through? Coz I can see lots of bio med students getting through..so
I absolutely agree that York is super supportive of Mental Health! The history dept. has a dedicated well-being guy and I have found him so helpful :)
Aww that’s so nice knowing it’s happening in other departments too :) x
