They were not given an opportunity to repent that if they repented and changed they would be spared. They were just given the message that Nineveh would be overthrown in 40 days. THEY thought maybe if they did repent He would change his mind. He did. That is why Jonah did not want to go to Nineveh in the first place. He had preached destruction before and the LORD forgave and Jonah was called a false prophet.
There was prophecy that Assyria would destroy Israel in the future. If he didn’t preach repentance maybe they would be destroyed so that the prophecy about Israel wouldn’t come true.
In Jewish tradition he was the son that Elijah had raised from the dead.
If he had been resurrected before, perhaps he thought there would always be another resurrection, hence he was not afraid to wish to die those 3 times in the story. The story ends with Jonah still bitter and angry with God, so we don’t know if he ever repented like he preached to others to do.

Ron Wyatt claimed to have found what seemed to be Noah's wife buried. They scanned the ground,and the sarcophagus was 15 foot long. She could have been 13 feet or so tall. Noah could have been giant as well. He did build an absolute massive structure. So, noted and is totally plausible.
In the judgement of all flesh, God repented(sorrowed over) His creation of life upon the earth....but Life sprang back from this judgment because of His Grace. What if the Tree of Life was cut down and used to build the Ark of Noah? Jesus is the Tree of Life. He is grafted into the Tree of the curse... the Tree of the Knowledge Good and Evil at the Cross. He was nailed...fastened to this cursed tree and hung there as "fruit" upon it. Eat this fruit....and live, which is the undoing of Adam's sin and consequence. What if God gave the Tree of Life to be cut down for the saving of the Life of the Earth? That's understandable, we are all born with an affinity towards rebellion against God. It's only after repentance that we can begin to understand Him. People spend a lot of time and effort planning for retirement, how much more important is eternity? It's at least worth looking into.
