That is exactly what I thought! Sometimes they're so liberal, and other times they won't allow "Finger" and "Hand." It's so subjective, and it makes me wonder if they aren't favoring certain players. But they often have contestants back, because of those type of gaffes. Well, it was the 70's, they were all high.
Giving her thoughts and opinions was part of her job. She was hired to drive viewership and ratings. MG was a success not so much because people were drawn to the game aspect, but because people at home (housewives and students and retirees mostly at that time) felt like Brett and CNR and Richard and the regular fill-ins were friends (or even family members) who came into their homes every week. They felt like they got to know Brett and the others as people, not just as aloof celebrities who might appear on a game like Password and just play the game. On MG the gameplay was secondary. It was an excuse for the celebs to schmooze and joke and sometimes run around the stage and do silly things. They talked about clothes (Fannie's shirts), TV appearances, hair (wigs, dark roots), spouses, etc. Even the catty remarks and playful zingers were encouraged by the producers who knew that some conflict stirred interest. The point is, this short of sharing of thoughts and opinions helped make the celebrities "real" to the viewer and turned the show into an integral part of the daily routine in millions of homes across America by inspiring intense viewer loyalty, and thus the number 1 ratings the show enjoyed before the producers began moving it to different time slots down the road. By talking about herself and giving her opinions and revealing her personality, Brett made herself more familiar with the viewers, and the viewers felt a connection and tuned in in droves. The producers (and Gene, obviously, who allowed and even led the shenanigans) knew exactly what they were doing when they hired Brett, and they scored a home run.
Tinkerbelle is Strange? And they matched that with fairy?" WHY WERE THESE JUDGES NOT REPLACED?? I just don't GET it. They obviously know NOTHING about judging.
AFAIK, "queer" is a general term whereas "fairy" refers to male homosexuals, particularly the effeminate ones. I've known non-effeminate gay men to take offense at being called a fairy, back in the 70s and 80s when people didn't get offended at every drop of the hat. Its use here for Tinkerbell is a bit surprising, but I guess it's poetic license, or just different regions of the country.
The winning contestant seems rude can't even look at The other one just runs out to the big match also Brett said she hated football I don't give a rat's Ass I love it my favorite sport
She seemed more anxious than most contestants. She may have just been too "in the moment" to be thinking straight, otherwise maybe she would have. idk...just speculating.

Love Juliet Mills in this! Her general British befuddlement is quite amusing!
She sounds just like my Auntie Linda 😀🇬🇧
She a dullard.
I like Richard's jacket, especially with that dark blue pullover.
James Darren is adorable.
16:28 The contestant clearly said "back", not "backside".
When I heard that James Darren died, the first thing I thought of was the Tinkerbell question
Brett has to have the question repeated because she's always talking...
What did you say? ... 😂
Panelists:
1. James Darren
2. Brett Somers
3. Nipsey Russell
4. Juliet Mills
5. Richard Dawson
6. Betty White
Hmmmm...I thought Goodnight Gracie.
Goodnight John Boy

I didn't know Stacy Keach had a tv show at this time...
I always wonder how long any of the contestants save their souvenir card Richard gives them when they get the supermatch.
I imagine some of the contestants kept them a long time for posterity.
I would hope 4ever I know I would have

Those signed cards are collectors items now.
Nobody said Goodnight Moon or Goodnight Mrs. Calabash. 🤨
Goodnight Moon?
A famous kids book that was written in the 30?'s 40's?
@@poolside123canadian7 you're absolutely right. It was published in 1947. It was also banned from libraries ✌

GN they had to think if rear and butt match? Maybe IRA should stop 🛑🍷
Lol
Fairy and strange are a match??!!!
That's what I thought! What a dumb match!
It was a slang use of the word strange at the time.
I was surprised.
Camera shot.. ;0) ROFL!! Another good episode.. ;0)
Didn't he say BACK and not BACKSIDE? Gene said BACKSIDE but is that what the contestant said?
He did say back, Gene said backside! Not fair to the other contestant!
"Fairy" and "strange" matched and "back" and "bottom" matched. Hmm...

Ok, I watched the previous episode. That retuning contestant doesn't even look VAGUELY familiar
Can I ask, what returning contestant?
Why does clueless Brett assume people care about all of her thoughts and opinions?
Narcissism.
She is a self centered camera hog 🐷🐽

Matching "strange" with "fairy" is an indication of just how far we've come as a society in our acceptance of lgbt folks.

The judge was the producer.

Fairy = gay = strange...??? Very 70s answer. I like Nipsy's answer.

Was "fairy" the same as "queer"? As in the derogatory term for gays?
Floymin , for the most part !!!
In this case... yes :P lol
