I remember when they told us Jesus loved everyone too. Then the Obama/Romney election changed everything, suddenly they were telling us who to hate and that’s when I left religion forever. The sick part is, the hatred is inherently tied to religion, but sexuality is also inherently tied to humanity…so it’s just a stupid circle we go in until it doesn’t matter again cause some bigger issue comes along.

It's just cognitive dissonance. Human sexuality relies on men being ugly and scary, and yet perceived as attractive BECAUSE of that. • @TheAverageSavage1021
      @TheAverageSavage1021 Рік тому +11

Exactly. I can’t say for sure what these parents learned in school, as far ad sex Ed goes, some may have had none at all, some may have been taught abstinence is the only way, and it’s a sin and ungodly to act on natural desires. Some may have been given condoms and put them on bananas. No matter what type of “education” on sex that came from school,, or scare tactics from home- kids/ teens will do what they want. I bet close to all of them broke those “rules & standards” eventually. Most all had boy/girlfriends, most all went to third base, most all eventually had premarital sex, with many people. They grow up, and get married, have kids and get limited amnesia about the life they lived before becoming a married, tax paying adult. They should realize being unrealistic about sex and relationships happening leads to rebellion, unsafe sex, teen pregnancy, or worse. Just like they went to school with girls who got pregnant, just like they dated and fooled around- that teaching them nothing to protect themselves in case, is more of a risk to their kids, than teaching them that birth control exists.

    • @TheAverageSavage1021

In 6th grade, we had a one day 2-3 “sex Ed course” it taught about pads and how to use them. Nothing about sex, condoms, natural urges, the “bases”, nothing. I went on to hs with 2 students from that grade school who had one kid in middle school. Throughout my 4 years, at least 20 students from 8-12 ended up keeping their child, and that’s not counting how many may have aborted in a safe, or very dangerous way. Pretending it’s not happening isn’t a solution. How people don’t see and agree with that, blows my mind.

Children do not speak up because they do not know how. When you do not have the words to say what you mean you stay silent. Respect for others' ideas, respect for others' identities, respect for others' cultures. There is nothing political about that. If you cannot respect all of your students equally no matter how they present themselves, then you should not teach. As a teacher, you are helping to raise these kids, and this is an important time in their lives for them to understand mutual respect and problem solving. What political alignment my students have or what religious values they believe in do not matter to me because I will never be injecting my own beliefs into the lesson. What's most important is that they use those values to be a positive remodel, and teachers are meant to be an example of how to put your best foot forward.

In Puerto Rico, we had various Sex Ed classes for kids from 2nd all the way to 12th grade in many schools. This was done because there were A LOT of cases of teenage pregnancies, especially cases of incest or abuse. I was in 5th grade when I took those classes, all the way back in like 2006 or 07. That’s how back those classes were put, and it worked. Teenage pregnancies decreased over time, cases of family abuse were more investigated and plenty of kids and teens now knew what to do in situations like that, plus it made awareness of LGBT+ community more acceptable when presented as just something that exists rather than it being demonized. Like, one of my Sex Ed and Health teachers back in 2008 was himself a pastor. He was the least bias man in these topics I’ve ever learned from, too. Dude didn’t shove his beliefs at his students; he just did his job as an educator and teacher. These days, I don’t think those classes are as prevalent, but it made it so kids grew up knowing what all that entailed. No one showed us porn, or forced us to be gay or whatever; they made us LEARN about something that was important and it made things better.

Although they do prefer to teach abstinence but they do say if you do fall into temptation just do this instead as a “loophole” in other words. And that’s when you can really see how much religion does impact education. And I know there will be people (probably Mormons) that will say that’s not true, it is. I recall several different STD outbreaks when I was at school, and unfortunately I sometimes learned from experience, and not just word of mouth..
Who’da thought that condensing a bunch of horny, mostly late teen to early twenty-somethings into a super condensed area, where most of them are living outside of parental controls for the first time, would lead to often creating the perfect breeding grounds for STI/STD outbreaks? Actually, apparently the health facilities on campus, bc they were often ready and on that sh!t, but something tells me the way BYU deals with these things is probably a good deal different… And also that I don’t think the crabs issue at PSU was caused by armpit sex, or at least not mostly if I had to take a wild guess (I know that hairy arm pits can definitely house them though, and god help you if you’re a really hairy dude, bc they’re going everywhere from the neck down).

Since when is working 1 bloody job 40 hours a week harder than working several jobs and working over 70 hours a week? I found a fun game...intentionally mis-gendering hogs...small things, like, "thank you ma'am" to a man hog, or "excuse me, sir..." to a woman hog. You'll find out really effing quick they most certainly do care about gender...and it has nothing to do with pronouns. Every single bit of rhetoric is just a mask for hate. We need to stop just reacting and just troll the living shite out of them IRL. Publicly. Privately. Professionally. Everywhere. All the time. Until they get it.

i’m an education major and it’s so funny seeing teachers try to explain basic educational theory to conservatives. they’re not using big words. we don’t even have big words in the field of study… the panic around education is just so absurd to me.

I think another big factor is what age/grade level the teachers are teaching.
also, if your 11 yr old has access to the internet, theyre not innocent and they havent been since they were 9.
1, what do gay ppl have to do with getting pregnant? 2, do the parents know that they can't stop teens from exploring sex? whats goin on with them bruh?

My conservative mother tried to tell me 5-10 kids are learning about sex in school. Of course this flabbergasted me since I had only heard that rhetoric online. But god damn it’s in all levels. And the moment I pushed back. “Do you really think their learning about sex” as in copulation or more about “what body part are what” she had to stop their is no further argument to this nonsense.
It’s crazy to even say that stuff out loud without questioning it for one seconds. Damn and her generation runs this country. Amazing. They have successful equated gayness, gender and med science with hard core porn in these peoples minds.

My sex ed in freshman year in WA did include a very brief discussion of anal and oral sex, only to explain there is still a large risk of STDs and you need to use barrier contraceptives like condoms or dental dams if you’re going to do it, and they still sprinkled in all of that “abstinence is best” rhetoric with every topic. They talked about how anal sex has higher rates of STD transmission and LGBTQ youth are at an increased risk of sexual violence, and they briefly talked about consent. Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with this curriculum for middle school and up. I learned about anal and oral in 5th grade via the internet, and I think it’s much safer for these topics to be addressed in a classroom.

Worst thing is I have a trans friend in the usa who is republican.
She is one of these „yeah the way those people live is unacceptable“ people who don’t realize that the party they support wants to see them gone.
And she also believes that teachers indoctrinate children with lgbtq propaganda and refuses to listen when I explain to her that that’s not what sex ed is.
Maybe I‘m just too European for the whole American discourse, we don’t have those issues we just teach the basics (including a bit of lgbtq themed sex ed) and barely anyone complains

Anyone who is worried about what a teacher says or "promotes" is declaring that they are concerned that their narrative is weaker than one the teacher can present. If they had true faith in their position, they wouldn't worry about outsiders' narratives. I would suggest that these people are admitting that they a skeptical of their own beliefs, that their children will grow aware of that , and ultimately their children will absolutely develop a different belief the moment they move out of the house. Guaranteed. This is absolutely where young atheists are coming from.

    Glad i fact check stats.,
Active shooter hit rates are not 7%
    They are around 21%
    New York Police Department
For starters, national numbers on police marksmanship are not readily available. But we found data on some individual jurisdictions, including several major metropolitan police departments.
An aide to Watts pointed us to a 2008 Rand study that looked at the accuracy of New York Police Department officer-involved shootings. The key data point is the "hit rate," the number of rounds that struck a suspect divided by total shots fired.
The Rand study looked at NYPD firearm-discharge reports from from 1998 through 2006. Some of the findings point in Watts’ favor, while other data refutes her point.
Hit ratios were below 30 percent for gunfights (18 percent) and from long ranges (23 percent from more than seven yards away). However, in cases where suspects did not return fire, NYPD officers hit their targets 30 percent of the time. Accuracy levels were above 30 percent when the target was seven yards away or closer (37 percent).
