I was raised a Christian but lost my faith in college. Reading John Wesley's works brought me back to faith, so I joined the United Methodist Church. But over the years I saw the UMC stray from Wesley's teachings and then go completely off the rails. I left my local church and the UMC. At the time, I was lay leader, Sunday School superintendent, a member of the church council, etc. I tried talking to the Senior Pastor but even though he agreed that the UMC was becoming something other than a Bible-believing Christian church, his position and potential for promotion was too important to him. So my wife and I left. We are both still Christian and love the Lord, and sad about what has happened to the UMC (of which we were members for almost 30 years), but we will never set foot in a UM church again.
I was raised in the United Methodist Church. there was no teaching of John Wesley nor was there EVER a sermon on the Gospel of Christ!!! How many pastors sent the congregation to hell and themselves!
Whatever happened to die to self and take up your cross and follow Me? Instead of seeking to be conformed to the likeness of Christ, they want Christ to be conformed to who they are.
These people are all about love of self and society, not the gospel. They are so offended by calling God the Father, when that was the term given by Christ.
Yep - Their plan is to get a group of people together once a week, hang out, maybe have a potluck dinner. Where is God? Oh, right - they have a god of their own making, one who conforms to society/culture vs the One in the Bible. So sad!
The revelatory name Jesus gave us for God is “Father.” And if anyone knew the character of God, it was the Son. But let’s just ignore our Lord’s teaching, right? Furthermore, to call God “Father” is a gift enabled by the Holy Spirit. And you shouldn’t quench the Spirit. Paul writes in Galatians 4:6, “And because you are children, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, ‘Abba, Father.’” I am a retired pastor who served relatively small churches in my ministry. Mega churches may have their place, but they are not for me. I can’t imagine the stresses of pastoring in one of them.
Yeah today these demons deny the masculinity of God....this is another heresy they have implemented into the Church and needs to be exposed...God bless
John and Charles Wesley preached justification and sanctification the holiness of God, but you are fulfilling the scripture second Timothy in chapter 4, where you preach the tickling of the ears, John and Charles preached salvation through Christ alone by grace alone, and they preached sanctification by the holiness of God that as a born again believer we are set apart According for his good works read Ephesians chapter 2 verse 1 through 10 may the Lord deal with us every so severely for those who preach a false gospel ….may we repent from unbelief and come in to belief in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ ….John chapter 8, verse 24 ….the gospel of Christ does not make bad people good it makes dead people come alive in HIM John 3 verse three unless a man be born again. He shall not see the kingdom of heaven…. repent today and come to salvation through the precious gift of Jesus Christ…. Love in Christ, your brother tim
My goodness! What powerful evangelism! This is how the United Methodist Church captured the world in the first three centuries of the Christian era. Oh wait. Never mind.
I live in Dallas. While we have a lot of conservative Christians here (and I am one), Dallas also has a wide range of other views and beliefs. The First UMC of Dallas has long been a liberal church with about 1500 members now. Most of the other United Methodist Churches in Dallas will continue with the UMC, which tells you where they stand on the UMC's direction. This is in contrast to Texas as a whole, where 40% of the Methodist churches are parting ways with the UMC. One exception in the Dallas area is the 6,500 member St. Andrew Methodist Church in Plano (a Dallas suburb). They chose to disaffiliate from the UMC with 98% of the member vote.
Like, like, like, like, like, like ....... Forget about sin, repentance, forgiveness, and trusting in Jesus alone for your salvation. Number one, women should not be pastors, and number two the only political talk in church should be about God's will and not man's will! As a former Methodist pastor, I left the Methodist church.
Apparently these two didn't read any of the reasons why Jesus came to this earth to die for us and conquer sin and death . They are so lost and only worried about racism. That is the only sin they seem concerned about. Jesus spoke more about hell than He did Heaven. These folks are 100 per cent spiritually blind
They talk about being incllusive and then demonize anyone who does not buy into their agenda.
