SpecShadow Fun Fact, in counter strike Dust 2 map was originally going to be called Dust 3 because the creator said "2 is always worse than the first one." Not direct quotes but somewhere in the ballpark.
Vietcong 2 is, for me, the single greatest example of where a sequel takes away everything that made the original so good. As someone who grew up with Vietcong as one of my nostalgic games, Vietcong 2 remains my biggest disappointment in gaming to date. I still remember being let down by the promise of a North Vietnamese campaign, only to be given 4 "bonus" missions instead with no substance. The worst kind of sequel.
I hope I am not too late. I loved Vietcong and I played it as a kid. It's a 2003 game yet it has so fucking much in it. I think I completed it 3 times and I would do it more but old software is not friendly with new software. Kind of hard to play if the game crashes even if there are some sort of small fixes. Thing is for a 2003 game it's amazing. You have a good looking game with gun or environment sounds that feel well researched. You even have to classic Vietnam music playing. You can hear more if you visit your room in the trenches. This is why I love this game. It feels immersive and it has good variety of missions. Between missions you are in your room and you can visit firing range to test weapons. In your room you have your radio where you hear some stuff and classic music. You can read files about lore or guns for example. Sometimes you are solo, sometimes you have couple teammates and sometimes you have a squad. All of them have a purpose. For example providing radio support, point man, ammo, medic or just carrying heavy machine gun. For a 2003 game it's fucking insane how well made it is. Even today games lack this kind of stuff. You would think games today has stuff like archives and some do but not too many. I don't dive into every game but I don't remember the last time I saw archives about lore and guns. It's just stuff games don't bother doing today. I played Vietcong 2 but it felt like completely different game. After couple missions I stooped playing. For a guy that completes pretty much everything even he sometimes forces himself to finish it I think it says a lot that Vietcong 2 is not great.
as some one who only play games in the hardest difficulty, i gotta say vc2 did it job better than vc1, it fixes a lot of issue vc1 had like the stupid health system. Although it no more a game that resembles "vietcong" but rather some cod bootleg, i still prefer vc2 for its more generous AI and gun play, be honest the tunnel mission in vc1 was stupid, especially on max difficulty
If there's one thing i can applaud about this game, it's it soundtrack. The soundtrack is so fucking dope, especially the main theme song for the game.
Every.Fukin.Time. I mean, song is great but it's overused. There are plenty of other songs from that era (and videogames in that theme). But no, better use Fortunate Son again. Now here is a twist - I'm not mad because it's that song again. It's because I've played VC2 too and got painful flashbacks. Even though this piece of shit code is out of my hard drive - the pain is real, like I'm playing it right now. Horror Horror
The best part of this game was the fact that in the first level you could talk to Vietcong 1's protagonist in the bar. Otherwise it was pretty disappointing
Played Vietcong for years in mature coop communities which one hardly finds these days. Some more serious ArmA clans might be an exception. The sequel had always been a letdown and nobody ever joined the open VC 2 servers, so they were shut down and everyone went back to the good old VC. If not even the most hardcore VC veterans enjoyed it, there must've been something terribly wrong...
LawBreakers is still a great game, and everything I expected from CliffyB [and then some]. It's just a shame that Nexon is running that damn game into the ground so hard. Even now, they're content to sit back and whine that PUBG somehow destroyed their game. I'm sure they spent more on that interview than they ever did advertising LB... my hopes at this point are that BKP can break off from Nexon and start over with a major 3.0 patch, alongside an Xbox One release, new characters, and some kind of way to get new players in (like a Battle Royale mode using the zero-G mechanics to make things a little more interesting on the outer edges of the map).
+Brupcat Overwatch had a pretty strong start, but sadly I found myself saying that quickly after launch. Support has just been dreadful for the game, and Paladins was pushing quality updates left and right. OB64 is a gigantic mess right now (not for the "muh P2W" nonsense everyone is wrongly crying about, but simply because it isn't a good system), but I'll probably be checking it out again once the dust clears. I highly recommend Paladins even in its current state above Overwatch, it offers far more content and depth to the basic mechanics that Overwatch got right. Also, unlike Overwatch, it has decent level design.
Bad Texture yeah, it's a good game just marred by no real advertisement and Nexon being who they are. Considering they ran dirty bomb into the ground and kept it a Perpetual beta even though a lot of it is f****** finished and yet they release content as if it were full game why not just call it the full game you lazy bastards!
had to watch this in 360p and thought the art style was actually quite cool, so i was surprised when you said it looks like shiiiet. i'll have to rewatch once 1080p is up
I love your videos. And this is no exception.I really don't know why but your way of analysing and explaining things is incredible. Please keep making videos like this one
Is Killzone even all that comparable to Halo, anyway? I know that Sony really pushed the whole "Halo Killer" thing to magazines all over the world, but...the game wasn't developed by Sony, and it's definitely not like Halo. It almost plays like a sci-fi medal of honor, space nazis included.
Hue is where I come from in Vietnam. Feels kinda bad that there aren't really any good games set in the Vietnam war. Good review Gggman. You should bring in more special guests to review games with you. The second voice really does add to the overall entertainment.

Never got around to playing this one - even though Vietcong was literally one of my favorite FPS from the early 2000's. I loved the MP in the first game, so I wonder did Vietcong 2 have MP and if it did if it was any good? Sigh, I'd love to see a Vietcong reboot/remaster one of these days.
Geez it hurts to watch this, why would you take me back to VC2??!! The first one was the most overlooked shooter of its day, it deserved a better sequel. Spot on dudes, keep it up :) And wd Salokin, you guys mould together great.
It's really sad it turned out like this, i really liked the old one, even played Purple Haze the console version. Though i do get my fix nowadays playing Mud and Blood Recon.
I just played 2 levels on episode 2 and they were awesome. A huge step up from episode 1 and I thought episode 1 was great. But I think GGG would review it only once teh game's fully out. He's already done 2 videos on it and the game isn't even out yet.
For the single-player campaign, it seems like the developers hit a wall in terms of what they could add after the first Vietcong, which along with its expansions, they really reached peak narrative and gameplay. So they seem to have taken a "in the streets" approach with Vietcong 2. The real strength of Vietcong 2 lies in its multiplayer, it was incredibly fun and had an active community, at least until GameSpy shut down :(( (RIP). the single-player was just a bonus tacked onto the main MP attraction for me
The script is read as if GGGman has two personalities. Btw, check out the Metroid Prime series. Those are a lot of fun and can be set up in an emulator to play as a regular PC FPS.

While I remember original Vietcong being some kind of cult classic, it's ironic how negative the sequel turned out to be.

Sequel being worse that 1st game is nothing surprising in video games (and movies) industry.

What I didn't like was the fact that the sights were much bulkier than in Vietcong 1. At some point the sights just obstruct a view of the target.

It’s major malfunction is that its developers didn’t show it enough attention whilst making it
