    Hi Pene, I love your chinwags. I don’t have the same recall (memories) as you, only snippets. Born in 1956 so almost the same era. Your knitting is superb. Great Grandson is gorgeous, and yes he does look like Pete who is also gorgeous. Love your walks, the wildness and beauty of the sea. Appreciate your sharing all these precious moment’s. Til next time 🥰🤗

    The v neck tank is a very classic looking piece, cheerful colour's too. I love the feel of baby alpaca.
    George looked adorable in his new sweater. It was a perfect colour to enhance the cable texture pattern.
    It makes your day when you can spend some time with them. I'm looking forward to half term next week and some family time.

    I really need to start using my stash as well, and stop being tempted by new yarn 😂. I think that when we are creative people we are drawn to colours, textures and patterns, and planning what we might do with this latest purchase can be as enjoyable as the making of the item. The jumpers for your great grandchildren have all turned out beautifully, and what lovely children.

    • @penelopeschinwag
      @penelopeschinwag  8 днів тому

      Hi Susan, I agree about the temptation! I has been a challenge choosing the pattern and adding to the yarn I already have but I am enjoying it and feel so good when I've done it! It's so lovely that the children absolutely love their jumpers and appreciate them.

    Great to see you again Pene. Loved all your knitting, and your quilt was a wonderful hit. Your new cast on will be glorious I'm sure. I had some Debbie Bliss Lace yarn in my stash, an off white, creamy colour and didn't know what to knit. Then you came along with the silver river shawl by Helen Stewart and I was away. I knitted it double, making it 4ply really, and added a light brown for the contrast. It came out beautiful, all thanks to you Pene, and I want to knit another with green contrast. They are addictive! Loved the flowers and the beach, the time of year when things begin to change. Take care, thanks for your company, see you next time.

      The Helen Stewart shawls are fabulous aren't they. They will be using up what is left over from these sweater amounts. So pleased you enjoyed knitting them. Like you say addictive. Rained all day here but I can see the roses are still ok! xx

    It amazes me that you finished the jumper since your last video, and it is so beautiful. Our paths so often are similar though we have always lived on opposite sides of the pond. We, too, have had a beautiful fall here in Michigan, but are being told that after the warm and sunny weekend approaching, the bottom will drop out on the thermometer, come Tuesday. 1959 meant a break for warm milk at my school too, but I was never offered an alternative, so often just pocketed the 15 cents for the week's milk and had none. I remember all of my elementary school teachers and my favorites were the 2 who made us feel good about ourselves. Wonderful photography, once again. Thanks so much. 💕

    Another lovely episode! Thank you for the cheerful time with you and your family and your lovely country. You really do whip out the knits! I never learned to knit well and only recently unraveled the one thing I ever completed. I took a 6-week course at a local shop ( back home) and made a vest from a Cascade yarn. At the time you could purchase a length of wool in a suitable weight for a skirt of trousers and I got it - and carried it around in my cedar chest for years and years until I sold it on eBay maybe 10 years ago. I digress. My mother was an expert knitter. I still have dress and a Lopi cardigan she made but I never wore because they were too small. She did not believe in making them in my size because she thought I should become smaller. Now I don't know what to do with them. The photo of you and Phillip is charming and you look so happy. I know how you felt as a child not wanting to venture an answer to a question or perform in front of people. I think most children are shy and I think it is an inborn natural response - after all, it is a survival instinct not to march out in front and be a target - even of ridicule if not a weapon. It is a relief to learn that we are able to hold our own and a course in public speaking is so useful for a student. We had our first freezes a few days ago so most of the flowers are gone except the ones which are faithfully covered by their growers when the evening temps come down. Your garden is so gorgeous as is your seaside. As always your family films are a joy. All the best to you and yours!

    Hi Pene! I have watched your videos for a long time but finally figured out that I needed a youtube channel to leave comments. 😂 I love your channel and never miss a chinwag. I was born in 1955 so i relate to all your wonderful stories. I miss seeing your Mom and understand your loss....I lost my Mom a few years back too and miss her so much.
    I love the Debbie bliss blue yarn and i agree it will be lovely with the other blue...can't wait to see the finished sweater. Your grandchildren look darling in their sweaters. I think i will try to knit something for my 2 grandchildren. The sweater you are wearing looks so cozy. I'm knitting a shaw at the moment along with other WIPs. 😂 Love your story and your films too. You and Pete take care...looking forward to next chinwag!!... Hugs..Lonna😊

    Always enjoy your story and visits with your family. George is very cute. Funnily enough I decided yesterday that in 2025 I am going to shop from stash with just a tiny craft budget just in case I need a specific zip, thread, etc. I tried to do something similar this year but only managed to April! I will explain all in my next video. X

      Balance, isn't it Anita. Hard a fast rules never work. Wanting to use my stash is not a limit I'm putting on myself but a real desire to use it. It is an effort, far easier to 'just buy new'. You had such a good clear out this year and now I've seen your new purchases you're set up 😍

    Lovely to see you Pene, gorgeous jumper, made in two weeks!! - I am in awe - cables just turn me into a gibbering wreck😊. Ugh, warm milk, when I was young my mum used to make me a 'special' drink when I was ill, until I caught her making it! - raw egg whisked in milk with a little sugar😮, no wonder I hated that as well. Take care and see you again soon, Jane x

    G’day Penne, so pleased I saw your latest episode tonight was bit concerned, I thought “Oh haven’t seen episode of Penne & Chin Wag for while” 😳 Thinking “hoping everything’s ok with her & Pete!” and I looked at episode date “For goodness sake, I’ve missed it popping up, relieved I am they’re ok“ I thought. I’ve been so busy with work days, rushing eagerly home end work day to say hello mate, cook tea & get to my knitting few hours then bed and off to work again next day to do it all again. Made decision to start transition to retirement over next 12 mths, I’m 67 yrs now and reckon it’s time to move towards it. I’ll be around 68 1/2 yrs retirement start, well that’s plan 😂 I’ll definitely won’t miss any episodes of Chin Wag then 😂 hoping I’m lucky 🍀 enough that you’ll still enjoy sharing Penne, it’s rather selfish of me and I do understand it’s a BIG task for you but so many as do I love each episode. Take care 😄❣️🇦🇺

    Hi Penelope. It was so nice to catch up with you again. It was lovely to see George in his new jumper and how much he likes his sister's quilt. Your story is so interesting. At the age you were in 1958/9 I was experiencing world travel as we made our trips back and forward to Australia. My parents took two trips before deciding to stay in Australia. I was 11 at that stage. I think this has not only made me into the person I am today but left me with social anxiety as I was never settled in my early years. Three different primary schools in England and three in Australia. I look forward to catching up with you in two weeks. xx
