i noticed you asked about marilyn monroe so i’ll explain!! this comeback is based on marilyn monroe. soyeon was inspired by her quote, “i’d rather be hated for who i am than loved for who i am not.” she said it was sort of like “this is who i am and i’ll be who i am even if you stop loving me for it.” it’s also why they’re all blonde. she wanted to talk about the prejudice of how marilyn was seen as a dumb blonde sex symbol even though she was extremely intelligent. she also wanted to use the nude concept as breaking prejudice & stereotypes as to why people automatically associate nudity with something vulgar or sexual bc she sees it more as something vulnerable, like being your full true self. i’m not sure if you watched with subtitles, but the lyrics are very prominent & portray the concept really well. side note, marilyn monroe is soojin’s favorite person. she’s her absolute favorite celebrity, and she’s had multiple photos of her as her wallpaper. i’m glad you enjoyed the comeback :) your saida video back in 2018 is what got me into kpop. when gidle debuted a few months later they instantly became my favorite group, so i technically have you to thank
