It's official. I'ma do a "Peril Run" (Peril Mario as soon as I hit Toad Town) of Paper Mario 64. This video gave me the push I needed. Also, even though Koopatrols don't appear in TTYD, they're an icon I'm glad is still recognized. PS: love the profile pic. Emolga is criminally underrated as a good Electric/Flying.
itd be possible if whacka isnt immune to status effects if he is, then the max would be 26 i think, if you can power bounce on him a max of 9 times hes not immune to burn so thats a good sign
I didn't expect to laugh hard because of the stage hazards falling on Whacka and messing with the run, especially the Bowser statue. Clearly the RNG didn't like you. Aside that, this challenge feels like a change of pace. Instead of doing as much damage as possible, now it matters to do as little damage as possible in favor of spawning more bumps, and I like that Love Slap is useful in this challenge. Well done!
Clearly he intended, through the bleak Pit he descended, And each separate dying monster left its coins upon the floor- That there would be a whacking, as of someone gently smacking, A most patient plannèd slapping upon that Whacka poor I'm wondering what the purpose of making Mowz's Love slap do multiple instances of "contact" but only one instance of damage was. Was it an oversight? Just for the sake of the animation? I can't think of any abilities that have a chance of triggering on contact that this might synergize with somehow. Still you've found a very, very funny way to exploit this quirk. As expected!
Now THIS is the Ms. Mowz content I've been waiting for. Great strategy! It's really unfortunate that you had such a run of bad luck near the middle. I almost wonder if the chances of stage hazards appearing increases the longer a battle takes?
So interesting fact about these wacka bumps i noticed for the player: after specifically hitting a opponent five times in a row, a red bump is always garunteed to appear. after that, it goes 6, then 7, then 8, than 9, then back to 5, repeating the cycle. HOWEVER, wacka himself can break this cycle as he can randomly spawn one by force should the need be acquired from his stage tremor attack. Thing is, this _skips a cycle_
theoretically, if you farmed for two more HP Drain or P-down D-up, could you spawn infinite bumps by doing 4 slaps for no damage? Also, doesn’t FP Drain give the same effect of decreasing damage by one? Actually wait, what if you hadn’t upgraded Mowz? I’ve barely used her, does non-upgraded Mowz + one HP drain + one P-up D-down = no damage from four slaps?
Yes, you can spawn infinite bumps that way. But farming badges is not allowed as a personal rule. FP Drain only affects Mario's power and there's no partner variant of the badge in this game.
@@Koopatrol thanks for the response! yeah, figured farming badges probably wasn’t allowed. what about not upgrading her? (also, good to know about FP Drain! you can tell i’ve never used it lol)
Wait, does fp drain p not exist? I thought it did because Mario fp drain exists in the shop, but I haven’t played the game in a while, and never have played the remake…
@@Koopatrol yeah but if yoshi's damage was reduced to 0, thats possible right? that would provide 6 every turn for free that is, unless there is a 1 dmg minimum, in which, considering that ground pound damage lowers depending on the damage up (i.e. charge dealing 3, then 2, then 1 on all subsequent stomps) wouldnt it be possible to have a yoshi that would deal 1 damage on only the first stomp, providing 6 bumps per 1 dmg? (or something along the lines of that)
@@anonamoly Yoshi has to deal damage in order to spawn bumps. Love Slap is one of two attacks that spawn free bumps (0 damage attack), the other being Fiery Jinx, where a failed AC Fiery Jinx spawns a bump on the initial 0-damage hit, with the resulting burn on subsequent turns dealing damage. In summary, Ground Pound = 6 damage, 6 bumps Love Slap = 2 damage, 4 bumps (or 0/2, 1/3) with P-Down D-Up P and HP Drain P Fiery Jinx = 3 damage, 4 bumps over the course of 4 turns (completely fail the Action Command)
@@Koopatrol interesting, thanks for clarifying! i couldve sworn a damageless attack would still spawn a bump hehe, your mastery and intellect of the game as a whole is very impressive :)
Each time the enemy, Whacka, is hit by an attack, his head creates Bumps (the things that look like pastries). Then he throws those Bumps at Mario to attack. The more times he is touched by an attack, the more Bumps he makes. So Koop is trying to make Whacka make a lot of Bumps by hitting him with attacks that touch the enemy a lot without hurting it very much. In this case, he's hitting with a slap attack that touches the enemy four times but only does two damage. The point of the challenge is to make as many Bumps as possible before killing the enemy.
This might be my favorite TTYD video ever, plus all the research on how this fight works is surprisingly interesting

Make a sequel to taking Pine T. Sr to Bonetail with this remake!
Pine T. will immediately take the first exit pipe in the remake, making this impossible.
